Progressive American cuisine pioneer, Charlie Palmer, continues his West Coast trail with Charlie Palmer Steak, Reno: a contemporary steakhouse that feels more like a clubhouse wrapped with blonde wooden walls and textured fabrics in midnight blue, deep terracotta and espresso.

In the kitchen, we continue the clubhouse feel with neo-traditional steakhouse fare such as Oregon Wagyu Beef Short Ribs with Garlicky Gremolata and classic tableside service of Steak Diane. The trademark eclectic wine list is strong in America bottlings focused on the Northwest and including rare single-vineyard bottles.

OverLl the food was great. I started with the Cesar Salad. It was fantastic. Big enough for two. For my entree I selected the filet with the peppercorn sauce. It was tender and cooked perfectly. The sauce could have been more peppery. For a side I had the Brussels sprouts which were amazing. My only complaint t was the very slow waitress and the noise level which was too loud for a date night.

I'm vegetarian so I didn't expect to find a lot of choices at a steak house. We were there celebrating my husband's birthday. My husband and friends enjoyed their steaks (NY cut and Filet Mignon) and they looked good too. We had mash potatoes, green beans, chick peas w/spinach, mac and cheese. All the sides were very good. Our waiter, Julian, was awesome!!! He treated us like old friends and provided us with personalized service that felt genuine.

First time I ordered duck and I didn't understand when the waiter asked me what temperature I wanted my duck at (I've only ever been asked how I wanted it cooked med rare and such) when I looked at him confused he snapped at me impatiently "how do you want it cooked what temperature ?" I felt upset paying the almost $150 when that's the sort of service I got.

The ambiance was great with subdued lighting and the seating was appropriate and comfortable. Everyone was polite albeit professional and attentive. Our host was amazing and I was thoroughly impressed with her candor as well as her knowledge of the menu. Any question I had she was quick to respond with impeccable detail. Due to a delay with our order the chef provided additional foods to tide us over until the main course.

When our main course arrived my girlfriends filet was made to order to her satisfaction while the salmon melted in my mouth like butter. Accompanying vegetables were both unique and tasty from the au gratin potatoes, butter rich spinach to delectable Brussels sprouts.

All told, considering the refreshing service by all attendants, the subdued ambiance and the varying appetizing and palatable dishes proved a dinner to savor and remember for some time to come. Thank you Charlie Palmer restaurant for a great dining experience.

On my 65th bday. I ordered the petite new york strip prepared medium rare which was cooked to perfection. A choice of different sauces were offered. My choice was the aoli, though delicious I certainly did not need it as my steak stood on its own two feet. My side was the twice baked potato. I had already read a sterling review about that side from another post. My boyfriend claims he doesn’t eat streak. However I talked him into trying the first bite. Instantly, though he ordered the seared salmon, which was equally delicious, he became converted. The potato was to dye for. Alot of yummy sounds were coming from our table as we slowly enjoyed & shared every bite. The service was outstanding. The noise level, tho in a casino was not detectable, & pleasantly there was no cigarette smoke in the dining area. Following, which we both would rate as fine dining, I received a complimentary chocolate desert. It too was delicious. IMO not a complete birthday without cake & a candle to make a wish on. Described as a flour less delight it resembled a s’more with a coffee mouse in the middle topped with whipped cream sprinkled with cocoa powder and drops of caramel droplets. If that wasn’t the “piece de resistance” we were also complimented with macaroons & house made bites of dark chocolates. Lastly & certainly appreciated in addition to the prefect evening, we received two small bags of homemade oatmeal raisin cookies.
I will finish with this. I am a third gen native of Reno. I have had the good fortune to do a great deal of traveling both within the great USA as well as Europe & the Caribbean. The evening was too perfection, I will always remember that meal as one of the best I’ve had. Bravo to little big/little Reno, GSR and Charlie Palmer’s for a great dining experience. Thank you!

The service was Ok. For 100$ dinner expect way more. The waitress was very rude after we both didn’t want wine. She shut down and didn’t listen. She then ordered the wrong meal. Chicken does not come well done or medium. Once our food came out it was cold and frozen and tasted horrible. The bread was very hard and cold. The glasses were dirty. Our salads had a sprinkle of dressing and nothing else but lettus. If your looking for a nice night out would recoment the Harras or even Olive Garden has better service and food. Would not recommend to anyone and will not go back.
