About Charlie Palmer Steak - Reno
Progressive American cuisine pioneer, Charlie Palmer, continues his West Coast trail with Charlie Palmer Steak, Reno: a contemporary steakhouse that feels more like a clubhouse wrapped with blonde wooden walls and textured fabrics in midnight blue, deep terracotta and espresso.
In the kitchen, we continue the clubhouse feel with neo-traditional steakhouse fare such as Oregon Wagyu Beef Short Ribs with Garlicky Gremolata and classic tableside service of Steak Diane. The trademark eclectic wine list is strong in America bottlings focused on the Northwest and including rare single-vineyard bottles.

Charlie Palmer Steak - Reno Ratings and Reviews
I think the steak house at the GSR is it's only down fall. Everything else was amazing.
The steak house was extremely loud, it might be location to the casino, or acoustic design, but my wife both agreed that it was to loud for a romantic date.
My wife got a salmon plater, it was perfection!
I got a filet mignon. I ordered mediam. It was rare in the center. I'm not one to send it back and make a fuss, so I went with it.
Sides are way over priced, and not your standard selection. I'm a hudge sautee mushroom fan, it's not on the menu, but they did bring a order of pretty good mushrooms. Broccoli not on the menu. They do have mashes potato, but something was off about them, I found myself over salting them..
Wine and beverage selection was great.
Our server messed up my wine order, so just didn't charge for the wine, that was great.
Our servers were great.
We declined desert. And they brought out cookokies to go, that was neat.
For the price we paid, the atmosphere was just too loud. And although I could have sent the steak back, at $49, you shouldn't have too...
Charlie Palmer's was the highlight of our 2-day stay at Grand Sierra. We loved the attention given us, the atmosphere, the ambience, the food was spectacular, the service excellent. We were totally comfortable and enjoyed every minute. We will return just for this experience.
Great meal. Wait staff very attentive, warm and friendly. My companion loved the seared foie gras and thought it was amazing...possibly one of the best things she has ever eaten. The renovation was great although I do miss the kitchen being so up close and personal. My only recommendation would be to Ensure that the host/hostess be as attentive and friendly as the wait staff. The only downside was the host/hostess. Remember that they are the first person that customers come In contact with and they can either set a good or negative tone. Luckily, the wait staff and the food made up for the disappointing greeting. Would still highly recommend and will return when I am in the Reno area.
Donavan was a great server. He was very attentive and knowledgeable.
The ambiance was great except for some of the weirdo's that were in there. I understand that you can't control who comes in, perhaps a dress code could make it nicer?
I'm enjoying a $200 + meal with my wife and the guy two tables away is wearing a ragged 49er's T-shirt and walked in with his own tall can of Bud Light... It would be nice to keep this upscale restaurant full of upscale people. That's my only [minor] gripe. Everything else was great
We were celebrating my wife's birthday. We informed our server that we wanted to share our meals and the meals came to us already divided. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was beyond good. Portions were just what we needed, neither skimpy or excessive. We would recommend Charlie Palmer's for anyone wanting great food and a comfortable environment.
Food was sooooo good! My chicken was wonderfully cooked and had great flavor. Husbands steak was perfect and he loved the sauce he chose! Service was excellent. I would for sure come back. The sweet waitress even brought me out a cake because it was my birthday. Ive now been craving the cake since because it was very good!
Every weekend we go to the upscale steakhouse in the city. This was the next on our list. However we were not impressed, the hostess were great, but what we have experienced at other establishment this would compare to the the local Outback/Texas Roadhouse. The appetizers were mediocre, we ordered steak it was not she, bland in taste, the lamb chops were unimpressive. The side items were room temperature. I would never give this place a second chance for the price spent. This was not upscale, and food quality does not match what you pay. The presentation looks great but taste gets 4 thumbs down.
First time visit to Charlie Palmer: Ambiance was warm, inviting, beautiful and comfortable. Service was impeccable, our waiter was very attentive and very knowledgeable of the food and prep for each dish. Ordered the King crab, souvid pork chop and salmon, all were cooked to perfection and delicious. Definitely will return to try the steak next visit!
My filet mignon was grilled from frozen, which gave the steak a mushy interior. It was tasteless and if I had been blindfolded and unaware of what was on my plate, I would never have guessed it was steak. My French fries were mushy and soft, with no crunchy exterior. My last glass of wine never materialized, though our server had acknowledged my order.
My husband and I came here for his 40th Birthday. The setting was very intimate and nice ambience.
The food was phenomenal. We started with the ginger scallops, which were amazing. My husband had the salmon and I ordered the veal. The salmon was the best we've tasted by far. The veal was very tender and flavorful.
Our dinner at Charlie Palmer's was prior to the Steve Winwood concert at the Grand Sierra Resort. At first, I was hesitant to eat "casino" food to celebrate an occasion but I was reminded that CP's is on par with Ruth Chris. Driving to CP's for a stand alone experience is well worth the effort. The menu is similar - emphasis on the red meat and if a person wants add-ons like a bake potato, they are ala carte. I created a make shift steak frites and it was cooked to order - very tender, just excellent. The steaks are on par or better than RC's but the appetizers appear to be better or more adventurous (we had fried artichoke hearts that were superb).
Only knock and it can't be helped is the ambience as it relates to being in a casino. I sound like a snob but if you're going to CP's to celebrate a special occasion be prepared to dine with loud children, people wearing shorts and ball caps, etc. I assume if this CP's was a stand alone restaurant and not in a casino, there would be some kind of dress code or expectation. However, we knew what we were getting into, making reservations at a place inside a casino and the food transcended the casino-ambience. All-in-all, well worth the drive and experience. If you like Ruth Chris, you'll be more than pleased with CP's
CP is a tasty treat in Reno. It just make the other restaurant look silly. The staff there is very kid friendly and adult friendly too.
The menu that I always order are the Goose liver, ribeye, oysters, and daily special.
Trying to put words that everyone can understand. lol. Portion size is good. Taste is excellent. Service was what you expect to be.
Their oyster was not acceptable this time but the staff took care of it professionally. Love their service.
Overall. A meal for two with a good tasty wine will run you about $150-200. Which was very decent.
Dinner before Smokey Robinson concert. Very nice experience as food and service was great. However, we did not realize portion sizes on side dishes were large enough for two, otherwise would not have ordered two types of potato dishes and we would have selected another vegetable. Our server gave us chocolate chip cookies wrapped to go which was a nice touch.
Oh my! Stayed at the GSR for 2 nights to see a show and thankfully had the pleasure of dining at Charlie Palmers. We split a Ribeye (huge) and got a side of oysters and a large baked potato - everything was cooked to perfection, presented beautifully, and served graciously. An extensive wine list was made easier with the friendly help of the sommelier. Not the place to count pennies but worth every one of them! Loved the interior and the night we dined there was no wait and it was relatively quiet dining. Really enjoyed the meal and restaurant and will definitely be back.
