I ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it came out medium, the texture was coarse and stringy, looking more like an end cut from a roast. I felt like I could have gotten a better meal next door at the coffee shop
Friendly staff, the support staff was a bit overly attentive in clearing the table and asking us if we were done.
I've dined with you before and have always enjoyed the food, but this time my filet and lobster were tough and dry. I've been in F&B for 14 years and I know stuff happens. I hate to send back food.
The martinis, Oregon pinot, apps, sides, dessert, and bread were all wonderful.
Great service, great steak, green beans and twice baked potato not so great.
Brian was our waiter who was very attentive and professional. Julian works there still. We
knew him from years past when it was not the GSR. We were sorry it was his day off, but
Brian said he'd text for us.
Anything Charlie does is first class with exceptional food. The portions are very generous.
we asked to split a steak and they did without hesitation. We've been going to Charlie's since the day it opened. We look forward to our next visit.
Always a favorite. Great staff, cocktails, entrees. The best!
We had a nice time together, as it was a well deserved date night, but service was definitely disappointing as we felt degrated from the get go.. waiting after being checked in for our reservation GM Seen us and didn't even acknowledge us, and as soon as another.. (White) couple walked up they were greeted right away.. being in the restaurant business I was thinking okay maybe he will talk to us later at our table. He did end up seating us after we clarified that it was us to be seated for our reservation.. and the other couple didn't even stay to eat.. not once after we were seated did he come by to see how our meal was or check on us, but was going around to others asking them how their meal was.. when we are also paying Customers.. Very dissatisfied with the amount of money spent not to get awesome Customer service from the Entire Team.. Thank you to the Server and Bus team!! Will not be Back
Service was top notch, too bad the food didn’t make the cut.
We were seated right away, the food was great, service was a little slow.
If you want beef, this place has it among other favorites. What to be expected is the dip in your wallet, it ain't cheap but once in awhile you just have to splurge for your cravings.
Outstanding service and food. My wife had the filet and it was extremely tender. I opted for the smaller 8 oz New York strip and a salad. The bleu cheese wedge was huge and the chunks of bleu cheese were plentiful and not salty like some bleu cheeses can be.
We also had a twice baked potato which was huge and an order of the potatoes gratin. I’m a huge fan of potatoes au gratin and these were perfectly made with Parmesan.
We were too full from dinner for dessert but they still have us each three sugar cookies tastefully warapped in clear plastic like a little gift. It was truly a memorable meal.
Steaks are good. Sides are meh to bad. Service is a bit abrupt - in any case not in keeping with the prices. For being inside a smoky casino the value is very poor. Skip it.
Took our pastor and wife for an elegant dining experience. Nice no smoke smell in GSR casino restaurant.
We went to celebrate a birthday we ordered Hennessy for the birthday man but you guys was out we ordered the tomahawk for two medium well we thought it was bone in it came medium already sliced off the bone you need more appetizer selections not very many things to choose from I dine at the Four Seasons Charlie Palmer's inside the Mandalay Bay very good never had problem and also the tomahawk had a lot of fat in it. But Donovan the server he was nice
Good service and good food. A bit pricey but worth it.
Finding ourselves stranded in Grand Sierra Hotel in Reno due to snow storm decided to splurge on a good steak dinner. We were not disappointed! Despite being a large restaurant it is divided into smaller sections and levels which make it more intimate and quieter. Plenty of staff providing good service.
My lamb chops were pretty good. Quiet place inside busy casino. We have eaten here before and would again.
The four of us were seated as soon as we arrived. The waiter was right at our table to assist us. The food was delicious. It did seem to take awhile to have our food brought to the table.
My wife (Nancy)was not feeling well that evening (Wed. 3/14)
Donovan was -without a doubt- the most caring attentive server that we have ever had. He asked their talented chief ((Michael) to create a healthy, soothing soup- rich with free range chicken slices, hearty broth, noodles, etc. It was DELICIOUS & the perfect solution for an upset stomach. Michael bowled us over when he personally approached our table to inquire how Nancy was faring & if the soup was to her satisfaction. Believe it or not- he even went to the trouble of baking special crackers as an accompaniment!
In addition, Les (the Manager on duty could not have been more accomodating! He is undoubtedly a terrific asset to the Charlie Palmer Steak restaurant chain. He even provided her with several tea bags, two bottles of " high end" ginger ales & a porcelain soup bowl complete with spoon to take the remainder of unfinished soup to our Concierge room. To top it all off, we were gifted with two attractively packaged bags of yummy chocolate chip/ oatmeal cookies as well as a pair of gourmet mini macaroons.
Rest assumed, we will ABSOLUTELY return to your delightful establishment (in hopefully considerably improved health). In the meantime, we will extoll the multitude of virtues of Charlie Palmer's to all of our family, friends, neighbors & acquaintances.
Once again, our sincere thanks to your entire Reno staff for extending we "locals" such exemplary, heartfelt hospitality.

This is probably the best restaurant in the Reno area. I have eaten here several times and not been disappointed ever. Great side dishes compliment the entree's. The wine list is extensive and fairly priced. Highly recommended!
We ate at the restaurant twice over the weekend. We very satisfied with the food and the service. The second time we ate there it was a little annoying only because a man that was dining near us had his cell phone on speaker and that was a little annoying and distracting. Otherwise, great food and service.
The service here was excellent. The filet mignon was tender and done to perfection.
From the minute we checked for our reservation to the final good night by staff the experience was top notch class! The bartender suggested a specialty martini type drink that was to die for. The staff allowed enough time to enjoy our cocktail before dinner and paced the evening according to “our” schedule (or lack there of). What a great evening to share with a friend who’d never been, but assured everyone they’d be back! Thank you all for the quality of dining Reno needs.
I had a almost last minute reservation..i took my two kids to celebrate my husband's birthday...he was very impressed with all attention and care put into our meal..also i had added special request which was nice to know they not only read our needs but they also make sure it happens...i requested a candle in his cake...it was beautiful..thx hannah...best service..
Charlie Palmers used to be one of our favorite places to dine out. They went through some bumpy times and we stopped going there. We thought we might give them another go at it. We were pleasantly surprised! We will be back.
The atmosphere was great and the meal good. We were going to the Olivia Newton John concert. The staff knew we were going. We had food left over that they packaged very nicely. We get to security at the concert to be told that we can not bring any food into the concert including our bag from Charlie Palmers. I could understand this if it was food brought from outside the venue . However, we paid a lot of money for the food and should have either been told at Charlie Palmers that the concert security wouldn't allow it in and offer to hold it and tell us not to bother. We weren't happy when we were told that we had to throw it away!!
Excellent steak, none better!! I will go back every time when I am in Reno again.
Side dishes were tasteless. What no baked potato's with a Steak??? Too Noisey. Service was wonderful Steak was good Lobster was Blah tasteless mushrooms had little flavor twice baked potato was awful.
The entire staff was outstanding, we will definitely be back- the food-the top!
Excellent in every way. This was a wonderful meal highlighted by great service and attention to detail. We will be back soon.
Great service and wonderful food
One dinner was very excellent. One dinner, the filet mignon was tough.
The day was a holiday and the staff was not prepared to serve.
The service was mediocre. No one filled the water glasses, no one filled the wine glasses.
No one passed by the table to ask if anything more was required.
OverLl the food was great. I started with the Cesar Salad. It was fantastic. Big enough for two. For my entree I selected the filet with the peppercorn sauce. It was tender and cooked perfectly. The sauce could have been more peppery. For a side I had the Brussels sprouts which were amazing. My only complaint t was the very slow waitress and the noise level which was too loud for a date night.
I'm vegetarian so I didn't expect to find a lot of choices at a steak house. We were there celebrating my husband's birthday. My husband and friends enjoyed their steaks (NY cut and Filet Mignon) and they looked good too. We had mash potatoes, green beans, chick peas w/spinach, mac and cheese. All the sides were very good. Our waiter, Julian, was awesome!!! He treated us like old friends and provided us with personalized service that felt genuine.
First time I ordered duck and I didn't understand when the waiter asked me what temperature I wanted my duck at (I've only ever been asked how I wanted it cooked med rare and such) when I looked at him confused he snapped at me impatiently "how do you want it cooked what temperature ?" I felt upset paying the almost $150 when that's the sort of service I got.
The ambiance was great with subdued lighting and the seating was appropriate and comfortable. Everyone was polite albeit professional and attentive. Our host was amazing and I was thoroughly impressed with her candor as well as her knowledge of the menu. Any question I had she was quick to respond with impeccable detail. Due to a delay with our order the chef provided additional foods to tide us over until the main course.
When our main course arrived my girlfriends filet was made to order to her satisfaction while the salmon melted in my mouth like butter. Accompanying vegetables were both unique and tasty from the au gratin potatoes, butter rich spinach to delectable Brussels sprouts.
All told, considering the refreshing service by all attendants, the subdued ambiance and the varying appetizing and palatable dishes proved a dinner to savor and remember for some time to come. Thank you Charlie Palmer restaurant for a great dining experience.
On my 65th bday. I ordered the petite new york strip prepared medium rare which was cooked to perfection. A choice of different sauces were offered. My choice was the aoli, though delicious I certainly did not need it as my steak stood on its own two feet. My side was the twice baked potato. I had already read a sterling review about that side from another post. My boyfriend claims he doesn’t eat streak. However I talked him into trying the first bite. Instantly, though he ordered the seared salmon, which was equally delicious, he became converted. The potato was to dye for. Alot of yummy sounds were coming from our table as we slowly enjoyed & shared every bite. The service was outstanding. The noise level, tho in a casino was not detectable, & pleasantly there was no cigarette smoke in the dining area. Following, which we both would rate as fine dining, I received a complimentary chocolate desert. It too was delicious. IMO not a complete birthday without cake & a candle to make a wish on. Described as a flour less delight it resembled a s’more with a coffee mouse in the middle topped with whipped cream sprinkled with cocoa powder and drops of caramel droplets. If that wasn’t the “piece de resistance” we were also complimented with macaroons & house made bites of dark chocolates. Lastly & certainly appreciated in addition to the prefect evening, we received two small bags of homemade oatmeal raisin cookies.
I will finish with this. I am a third gen native of Reno. I have had the good fortune to do a great deal of traveling both within the great USA as well as Europe & the Caribbean. The evening was too perfection, I will always remember that meal as one of the best I’ve had. Bravo to little big/little Reno, GSR and Charlie Palmer’s for a great dining experience. Thank you!
The service was Ok. For 100$ dinner expect way more. The waitress was very rude after we both didn’t want wine. She shut down and didn’t listen. She then ordered the wrong meal. Chicken does not come well done or medium. Once our food came out it was cold and frozen and tasted horrible. The bread was very hard and cold. The glasses were dirty. Our salads had a sprinkle of dressing and nothing else but lettus. If your looking for a nice night out would recoment the Harras or even Olive Garden has better service and food. Would not recommend to anyone and will not go back.
The food was excellent.
Excellent service and food. Overall an unexpected fine dining experience for a Reno hotel/casino.
