About Charley's Steak House I-DRIVE
Charley's Steak House is owned by the Woodsby family and has operated in Florida since 1974. Charley’s serves only three-year-old USDA prime and choice Angus steers, aging them four to six weeks for tenderness & flavor and hand-cutting the steaks daily to ensure consistent quality. The steaks are then flame-broiled over Florida citrus and oak wood in a custom-built pit at 1200º searing in the tantalizing taste that has made Charley’s the #1 steakhouse in America every year since 2007! Charley’s philosophy of providing only the finest extends from the kitchen to the wine cellar. The wine list approaches 1000 selections from scores of exceptional wineries around the globe. Charley's Steak House I-DRIVE Ratings and Reviews
I was disappointed with my steak preparation. I order medium rare and it was over cooked. It took awhile to get our entrees and didn’t want to wait for another one. The decor is a bit dated. Needs some upgrades. For the price I was disappointed. I had a better steak and more upscale environment at Eddie V’s.
I am really impressed by how everything turned out minus the food. The steak was over cooked and the lobster was also over cooked, dry and chewy. However I will say we had an amazing night but I can easily get a better steak and lobster for a third of the price elsewhere. The service was great and very polite. Overall a great night and experience but food could definitely be much better especially for the price. The atmosphere is great and made for a wonderful evening. I would not recommend this restaurant simply based on quality of food. I am not a person that will send my meal back, I will except it for what it is or not eat at all.
I have been to Charley's at least 10-12 times as I go every time I pass through Orlando. It has always been, and continues to be, one of my favorite restaurants, anywhere, anytime. Excellent service, wonderfully prepared cocktails and meals. The only problem is deciding what to get!
We dine here often and decided to take the in-laws for a treat. Food was great, service was even better. Two of the items cane out not exactly at our desired temperature, agreed upon by management they quickly took the item back and served perfectly cooked pieces, they did accommodate these errors perfectly. It was evident that Charleys was having a busy night after checking the grill on the way out there was no space for any other meats. I give them two thumbs up as usual, this time for their ability to keep the customer happy and resolving the issue quickly. I still recommend charleys to everyone that wants a good steak. I get the fabulous filet once a year, if you have not tried this and you are a steak lover....do yourself a favor and just do it. Order the fabulous filet once in your life.
The first time I ever experienced the incredible Charley's experience was 20 years ago, and I am so grateful to the great man that made it happen. This time was no different. From the wonderful wine and drink selection to the kind of quality food that makes your eyes roll into the back of your head in disbelief, every single thing was absolutely amazing. The service was a bit higher than top notch, never skipping a beat. They even made a togo box of some leftover steak for my loving pitbull Charlie. My friends from Ohio and Arizona were blown away by the experience. Couldn't imagine a single thing that could have made it any better, except maybe saving room to try that salted caramel infused cheesecake... Save up for that special occasion, make a reservation, and thank me later! Thank you Charley's!!!
We visited for Valentine’s Day. Everything was great. We were seated at the appropriate time of our reservation and our server tried to make our dining experience one to remember. The food was cooked to perfection. Dessert (chocolate cake) was delicious. Wine recommendation was really spot on to compliment our dinner.
Our waiter would promise some item, water refill or sugar for tea, then not bring it. The steak and sides were delicious but a side lobster tail had shell fragments. Toward the end I began to feel like serving us was a distraction to the waiter. For $150 meal I was expecting better.
Waited nearly an hour to finally order some food! Asked for a bottle of wine which they couldn’t find, eventually we choose a different bottle but still had a long wait until it came then finally put our food order in which again took ages. When the food arrived it was good but I was past the point of wanting to eat and out daughter was falling asleep at the table.
This is our go to steakhouse in the Orlando area mainly due to the unique flavor for the wood pit they use to cook the steaks. All the food was good but the lobster tail was just ok. It had some breading and seasoning on it which was over powering. I wouldn’t recommend the lobster tail but other dishes were all very good. I suggest the creamed kale side which is similar to creamed spinach. Wine list is a little over priced at around 3x retail.
The ambiance of the restaurant is nice, the grill is at the front when you first walk in and gives a wonderful welcoming aroma. The grill is 1200 degrees and supposedly sears your steak immediately to lock in the juices and flavor.
The side dishes here are more like sides you would get at a typical chain restaurant, they are large portions that were clearly not created or prepared by a chef and unfortunately nothing special.
The portabello mushroom app was tasty, with the mushrooms lightly breaded and crispy, but the "fondue" was nothing more than a ranch-type dressing with chunks of blue cheese. Although there was a candle under the "fondue" it was not the slightest bit warm. The wedge salad was huge and again, nothing special. The lobster mac and cheese was very good but a little light on the lobster. The presentation was also lacking as it came in what could only be described as a large brick and was not very visually appealing. The sauteed onions were good. Lastly, the broccoli was seemingly steamed although it said "sauteed" on the menu. It did not have any seasoning at all and was almost raw to the point I could not spear it with my fork.
The flavor of the steak was great and the high temperature grill does give a beautiful sear to the outside of the steak, but all of that is lost when the steak is overcooked. My medium plus steak came out well done.
Dessert was decent, but the salted caramel ice cream had a slightly gritty texture.
Service was ok, but our waiter was a little over the top. I also am not a person that cares for a presentation of raw meat to choose from prior to dinner.
All in all I think that quality of the food does not justify the price. We ended up with a bill over $300 after tip and we've paid less for a much better meal at the more upscale Bull & Bear Restaurant.
See previous review that was left, great food and waiting staff as always. Was originally told 1.5 hour wait without a reservation hostess and bar staff were rude about the bar area being open seating. I then went online and made a reavervation and was called back within 5 minuets of making resveration. If reservations are going to be required for quality service they should be required.
Always a great dinning experience. Kobe Ribeye, crab appetizer platter, lobster mac and cheese were all awesome. Charley's is the one must place for us to go when were on iDrive. Doesn't matter if you only speak Spanish or English our waiter Ken was the best.
Been there once before. This time around food was ok but seating left a lot to be desired. Seated near entrance and although I looked for different seating was not told other side of the restaurant was available. Issue was not with service as that was good.
This is one of our favorite restaurants, anywhere, not just in Orlando. The escargot was fabulous and the Famous 20oz Filet was prepared perfectly for my wife and I. Our waiter Ken and his associates were extremely proficient and helpful, and seemed to anticipate our every need.
Outstanding dining experience and great way to celebrate an 80th Birthday!
Great waiter service and understanding the menu and steak pieces. Changed some food for us, took garlic off the bread to start etc which was lovely.
The steaks were cooked to perfect, but personally, although we liked the smoked taste, it was a little too much for us hence the stars here. Nothing to do with how they were cooked, just our taste preferences.
Best service, hands-down. The wait staff and management at this location is top notch. The steak was phenomenal as usual. The French fried potato wedges were awesome. The mushroom appetizer made with rice flour, needed more breading... The crispy mushroom pieces were the most desirable, the larger cuts of mushrooms are not very good.
Last, the Mac n cheese square was poor. I would like the Mac n cheese to be made with better cheeses. It was not good.
This place is very special. Overall great job.
