Charley's Steak House and Seafood Grille - Kissimmee, FL Ratings and Reviews
Wow, so many accolades, this restaurant is living in the past. Whatever service and food it had that justified all the awards, is long gone. 50 minutes late for our 7:45p reservation. 20 minute wait to get first drink at table. 4 attempts at cooking a Medium Rare Ribeye. 20 minute wait for Espresso only to learn they don't have any more and then a 20 minute minute wait to check out.
On the food side I have to say the flavor of the steak was good, once it was cooked correctly. Sides are small, don't let them fool you with "family style" meaning there is enough for a family! Salad with dinner had good flavor, very small. We had six in our party, we spent $500.00 without wine, I have more business in Orlando and this will not be where I take my clients.
Read other reviews, you will see a common theme!!!
All was very good with one pretty important exception. We were a party of 8 and chose 2 bottles of a wine. They brought it to us but it was a different year. Didn't have a bottle of the year on the wine list. This happened with 3 wines we chose. We finally settled for a 4th choice but this tarnished the evening. The explanation was they can't update the list often enough. I guess the cost of printing has become cost prohibitive versus the cost of lost customers.
Our visit was disappointing to say the least. Seated in a room with several large tables (8-12 people). Noisy and waiter kept bumping into her chair because guest seated behind her insisted on pushing back from his spot. Our waitress would disappear for extended periods. Wine list was good if you were buying by the bottle. By the glass was a bit limited and wasn't too excited with the selections. Pricy either war.
The bread was very nice. My Ribeye was just okay. I've had better for much less. I thought the seasonings were non-existent . I guess I was expecting more. Wife's porterhouse was better. Lobster Mac and cheese was good.
Overall, with our $200 tab I was dissappointed.
Sadly we will not be returning to this restaurant. I have been to Charley's several times. I had not been for a few years as it had never worked in our schedule while here in recent years.
It has completely lost it's magic, it used to be beyond compare. This time the food was so-so, the waiter condescending and annoying, the decor tired. And I am not difficult to please by any means. Their practice of trying of trying to entice you with what THEY wanted you to order got very old quickly. When my niece ordered coffee before dinner you would have thought she had created a major faux pas. (She had a caffeine headache and was trying to relieve it!). When I asked about a steak out of the order our server was presenting them I was put in my place quickly. Needless to say that treatment of me was reflected in the gratuity.....The service was slow though they were not busy. The steaks were good though not exceptional as in the past. My Bloody Mary was so bland and watered down, so pale you could barely tell there was any tomato juice in it, the celery dried up on the end. None of this is what I would expect from a supposed top steak house in the US. Their standards have slipped beyond belief. It used to be an experience at Charley's, now it is a chore. Won't be going back.......
We celebrated my mom's 95th birthday here and I am so glad that we chose Charley's for this special occasion. Our reservation was early, and there was nine of us in our group. They couldn't have treated us better or made my mom feel more special. Daryl, our waiter, was absolutely fabulous, and the service was spot on. We are from Chicago so we know our way around a steak house and Charley's didn't disappoint! I will be back next time I visit mom! Thank you Charley's for making this special occasion one our family won't forget!
Wow, where do I start?? The hostesses were very friendly & welcoming. They say us right away. That's about all I can say positively about my experience there. Oh, and the lobster bisque was amazing! Huge chunks of lobster in it. While the meat was quite rubbery, it's very hard to find a restaurant that actually has lobster in their lobster bisque down here, so I can't complain too much.
Back to the service. The waiter was extremely slow & not very good. I can't remember his name, but I will never forget his horrible cigarette stench. He complained to us about being tired after a long day, but that shouldn't excuse poor service. The food took forever, almost as if he forgot to put our order in. He came back about 40 mins after we ordered to tell us the kitchen was backed up...and our food came out soon after. The baked potatoes were rock hard still, not cooked all the way. All 3 of them. We had to flag down a busboy to take the potatoes back for us since our waiter was nowhere to be found. Management did come & apologize for the potatoes, but it had taken so long to rectify the situation, the members of my party didn't even eat them.
We really enjoy this restaurant, but seem to have bad luck with service. We'll likely give it one more shot, since my husband likes the steak so much.
What keeps this from being a 5-star review is that children were running around their family table, and the parents/grandparents allowed this to occur. I have difficulty appreciating fine dining with childish distractions happening at the table next to mine.
Great evening at Charley's . A slight wait in the bar area resulted in a lovely martini served up by a very congenial bartender.
We were a table for three and we were all pleased with our meals! Since you are in a steak house be sure to avail yourself of a lovely steak. I had an 8 oz beef tenderloin cooked to perfection. The garlic mash potatoes and side of mushrooms were also deelish! My other dinner guests were also pleased with their meals. Portions are hardy and the restaurant will gladly make up a doggy bag of any left overs. Each of us were able to enjoy another meal at home with our left overs.
I would happily return to this spot for a casual evening with good food
Overall I was very unimpressed with our meal at Charley's. We have been going there each year when we visit for work and it has gone way downhill from 6 years ago when we first went.
The bar was not stoked with basic spirits (Campari) so serve a basic/traditional cocktail such as a Negroni. This was just the first thing of many that led to the less than stellar evening.
We had ordered our dinner and then 20 minutes later the server came back to me advising that they had run out of the Wagyu steaks and also the Lobster Mac and Cheese.... These are the two things that bring us back to Charley's each year. We had an 8pm reservation and to find out these two items had been sold out was very disappointing.
Overall I would not recommend this restaurant and we will likely find a new place next year for our annual dinner. The Manager did comp a bottle of wine, however a $75 comp on a bill that was over $1000 is not adequate in my opinion.
Seated us 45 minutes after our reservation time.
Food was well below average. Steak was grey with no grill marks and ever cooked. I can only assume that it was cooked in a microwave.
The side dishes seemed like they were a week old and over cooked to the point that they were inedible.
A lot of money for a very bad meal. I will never return.
I have been going to Charley's every time I'm in the Orlando area for over 20 years. I never leave disappointed. The service is exemplary. Perhaps more importantly, the steaks are amazing. The steaks are as flavorful as any I have ever eaten, and are always prepared to perfection. Our waiter's suggestion to try our steaks with some truffle butter made our already outstanding meal even better.
Have lived in South Florida for over 30 years and travel the 2 1/2 hours 4 times a year for our special occasion dinners. We have eaten in most of the top rated Prime Steakhouses in the country and have to put Charlie's Steakhouse right up there with any of them.
Three of us travel to Florida, two from Connecticut and one from Virginia, and play golf in the Kissimee area and for the last eight years or so we make sure to hit Charley's Steakhouse one night. It has been a great evening each time, good food with good friends, not cheap but certainly worth it.
I came in on Valentine's Day which I expected a wait but when you make a reservation online they ask for contact number to text details ... never got a text just a generic we are running behind it will be another 30 mins which ended up being 45 mins before seated. For a steak and seafood place on a day when a large crowd is expected but you didn't order enough lobster ? My server Matt was horrible his "assistant" aka buss boy was more attentive to us and helped us out more than our server did entire night meanwhile we see him going back to tables nearby multiple times while we had to grab the buss boy to help us. Overall for a establishment like this I was not satisfied especially when I've been there multiple times
Terrible delays - 90 minutes wait for meal. Steak undercooked, meat tasted off. Entree was taken off the check by the manager but a full check was presented by waiter. Mistakes being made at most tables which created a terrible atmosphere. Waiter very vocal about 'fighting' with the kitchen all night.
