We had a very delicious meal with great service and ambiance. Each course was excellent. I had the lobster bisque, scallops, and duck, and my husband got the fried oysters, pear salad, quail, and beef. The meal was memorable and we will definitely return if we are back in Baltimore for a special occasion.

What an amazing experience! We were greeted so warmly, our waiter Andrew was fabulous, and the food exceptional. It really lived up to the wonderful special occassion, a 70th birthday, that we were celebrating.

As usual, everything was perfect, from the moment the valet came to park the car until we left the restaurant. The service is impeccable but relaxed, the food is beautifully prepared, and the wine pairings are exceptional! For fine dining, the best restaurant in Baltimore!

Superb is the word that immediately comes to mind when describing CHARLESTON. Whenever I want to celebrate a very special occasion, Charleston is definitely my restaurant of choice. Every detail is top tier from beginning to end. We in Charm City are indeed fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber in our midst.

Absolutely fabulous - I cannot remember a better meal. My friend and I were treated like princesses. I chose the lobster soup, red beet tartare, mushroom tart, and grilled French quail. Unbelievably delicious. My favorite of these was the lobster soup, which was to DIE for.
Andrew was so attentive, without hovering - not to mention gorgeous and hilarious! Luis was very, very kind and attentive - adorable.

I can’t say enough about the Charleston. I only wish I could have met the chef. 👍👍

I had been looking forward to my first visit to the Charleston and I must say that the front of the house was spot on, but the food was disappointing. I did the 3 course menu with an added salad. Each course was "fine" but there was not one taste that put a smile on my face or had me wanting to say to my dining partner "oh my, you have to taste this!". The presentations were clean but boring. The exception was the beautifully plated beet salad. A bright red firmly cooked beet with carrots that were mashed and wonderfully earthy tasting. The problem was that neither of us had ordered a beet salad and looked at the plate with confusion until we noticed the small artichoke on the plate and realized that this was the artichoke salad that had been recommended to be placed in the middle of the table for sharing. The desert of chocolate pot de crème with brittle was quite yummy. I don't think I will return as I think that this represented a typical experience.

We were celebrating our 50th. wedding anniversary and from the moment we walked into the restaurant until we left was by far, the best dining experience we have ever had. Shortly after we arrived, Chef Wolf came out and greeted us. We had a pleasant conversation and it felt as though we were talking to a friend that we had not seen for a long time.
The service was impeccable and the food absolutely delicious. We were sent complimentary artichoke soup which had citrousy notes, yum, yum. I started with a lobster soup, arugula & mesclun salad, then the pan roasted rockfish. My husband had cornmeal fried oysters, the rockfish, pan roasted duck and grilled lamb, all items which he enjoyed immensely. We were served complimentary desserts. Our dinner entrees were paired with wine and that is definitely the way to go as the food items were paired expertly. We wish we could do it all over again. Finally, I must say that Will, our server, was pleasant, knowledgeable and brought the food out at a leisurely pace. This made the dinner very relaxing. We felt like royalty throughout the dining experience that we will never forget. Thank you Chef Wolf and staff.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Charlestons. While I think we are well diverse in food and restaurants throughout the US, we had a great meal here. Those complaining about Customer Service, most likely do not attend sophisticated restaurants. I do understand that they may feel as if they staff should not feel arrogant about them being there, I do not think the customers understand how their trying to make it the best high end experience for the guests. Well thought out menu and surprised to see the Chef on a Thursday night.

Charleston and Cindy Wolf have a sterling reputation; both are consistently at the very top of "Best" lists. Perhaps because I am always skeptical of restaurants known for being especially expensive, we had never seemed to have gotten around to having a meal there. However, my wife had a significant birthday coming up and requested that it be celebrated with a quiet dinner out, so I decided to take a chance on Charleston. I am not sorry I made the choice. While this was our first visit to Charleston, it certainly will not be our last. We had one of the finest dining experiences ever. The service was outstanding, performed by a staff appropriately well-schooled. Each course was scrumptious to the point of being heavenly. The wine pairings were extremely well done. My wife had lobster soup that was paired with a sherry that was undoubtedly the best I have ever tasted. I loved the cornmeal encrusted fried oysters and the broiled rockfish, both of which made this Marylander feel he had died and gone to heaven. By the end of our meal, it became obvious that Charleston and Cindy Wolf richly deserve every bit of their fine reputation. My only regret is that I did not overcome my skepticism earlier.

We have been going to The Charleston since it opened in 1997; however, we had not been for several years as we frequent the other Foreman Wolf restaurants. We were disappointed. The decor needs refreshing--in fact, the ceiling near one of the air vents was soiled black. The idea of 3-4-5 courses needs to be reconsidered. Even with three courses it tends to be too much with dessert added. In addition, the food was not outstanding which is what we expect from The Charleston. One course in particular, the fresh artichoke risotto was not properly cooked and one of the pieces of artichoke was tough and chewy.
We will continue to frequent Cinghiale, Petit Louis, and Johnny's, but will think twice about returning to The Charleston.

Excellent service, elegant setting, and great food. Great selection between 3 to 6 course pricing. I thought the serving sizes would be small so I ordered a 4-course meal and was very full (3-course would have been fine). But there are so many delicious courses to choose from too! Dessert came with fixed price and was amazing.

Having eaten at high-end restaurants before, I found the food to be fine, but not outstanding. We took the three-course menu, followed by dessert. That amount of food was MORE than enough. The meal started with an amuse-bouche. It would have been kind of the waitstaff to ask if there are any food allergies or dislikes before serving. It is quite uncomfortable to reject a chef's creation and it mars the experience when one cannot partake in it; other high-end restaurants where we have dined have normally asked about food aversions or preferences and provided an alternative amuse-bouche.

For the ordered meal, my spouse and I ordered different salads. They were both fresh and flavorful. This was followed by a risotto (for my spouse) and a chanterelle tart. They were fine, descent flavors, but nothing spectacular that made me feel excited about it. The main dish was beef and for the portion size, I was dismayed about the amount of fat it contained. My husband left a third of his already small portion (perhaps 2oz) on the plate because it was riddled with fat. The composition was nice enough, but again, nothing that made me say this was an exceptional experience.

The desserts were outstanding! We had the chocolate pot de creme and the maple cheesecake. This was accompanied by the chef's selections of 2 kinds of mini macarons and a white chocolate with currants. Each was fantastic! I'd honestly return for just desserts and coffee, but that's not what the restaurant is about.

With respect to the staff, each was kind, polite, engaged, appropriately paced to our tables, and attentive. I did sense a little bit of pretentiousness, but that's not to be unexpected at a restaurant commanding the prices it does. The dishes served on were gorgeous! I was thoroughly delighted seeing those works of art.

Overall, having eaten at famous restaurants in Basque and Catalonia, I would have expected a more artistic, intriguing plating for the price point set for the experience.

The food was outstanding and our only regret is that we didn't try other items on the menu (although we felt well-fed after the three course option, we could have squeezed a fourth in).

Moreover, the restaurant was very accommodating to us, even though we arrived over one-half hour late and had to leave at a set time for a concert (we did call ahead to let them know).

Bottom line: great place and we can't wait to go back!

Excellent food and fabulous dinner service. The lobster bisque was amazing. While the ambiance was nice, my only dis-satisfaction with the evening was the temperature. We were seated directly below a vent blowing cold air on a cold evening. It cycled intermittently and I was freezing. Though brought to the attention of the staff, no change occurred. Everything else was wonderful; however, for the price of the evening, I think that a concern like that should have been addressed.

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I love the tasting menu and how you can customize your dinner to suite your desires. The atmosphere was fancy but not pretentious. The wait staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The wine list was amazing. It is definitely pricey, but totally worth it for a special occasion like a anniversary or birthday. Loved it.

The halibut in beurre blanc sauce with mushrooms was definitely my favorite dish although everything was delicious. The service was outstanding; the mere mention of leaving my glasses in the car and a tray of reading glasses appeared for me to choose from. When we let them know we were pescatarians, they changed the amuse bouche to a scrumptious fried oyster. Love this place!!

Celebrated a birthday dinner with a good friend of mine. There were three in our party and everyone enjoyed their food and the service. Our server was Danielle and she was excellent. I had the lobster soup, snails and lamb. Dessert was bread pudding and vanilla bean ice cream. Chef Wolf and staff are to be commended on food and service. Looking forward to dining at the Charleston soon.

Fantastic restaurant! I loved the “tasting menu “ concept. You order from 3-6 menu items in the order you prefer. Plates are not small , not large. My wife and I did three courses in addition to a “cheese course” and desert. That was more than plenty for us. Other than the very top restaurants in NYC, (Daniel, etc...) one of the best restaurants we have been to......Very Good food, service and ambiance!
