I mentioned we were celebrating my husband’s birthday when making the reservation and they treated us like gold from the minute we arrived! The food and service were exceptional and we hope to come back again to celebrate other milestones in our life!
The service and food were superb! They treated us like royalty. The 4 waiters all referred to me by name. Impressive. They offered suggestions with pleasant eagerness to impart knowledge. The tenderloin was perfect and the sturgeon was incredible. I would also recommend the crab cake. Expensive but worth it!
Excellent experience as we have come to expect at Charleston Grill. A couple of the items -the sourchoke soup and the scallop entree - were too salty for our taste but the overall presentation and variety were outstanding as usual.
Every bite we took was delicious!!! Service was outstanding
Our first visit and we both loved it. We did the six course tasting menu and each course was excellent, the service was wonderful. We really enjoyed our evening, and the wife said "This is my new best place to dine."
Held a surprise birthday dinner for my husband - a drive to Charleston of 2.5 hours. WORTH IT! Four of us enjoyed the Chef's 6 course tasting menu...EXCELLENT. The crab cakes were incredible. If you've never had Sturgeon - an ABSOLUTE must at the Charleston Grill. Get ready for Venison tenderloin like you've never tasted before. Ambiance was great, with live jazz quietly playing in the background. The servers allowed us to take as much time between courses as we wished, never hurrying us through the meal. We ended up passing the various desserts around the table so all could sample the wonderful conclusion! An old favorite of ours that has a surprisingly updated culinary twist on low-country cuisine. We will be back!
Wonderful experience. If it’s on the menu, you have to get the sunchoke soup. It’s incredible; it’ll change your life. The scallops are amazing, creme brûlée is the best, and service was outstanding. Highly recommend. Thank you.
This is by far my favorite restaurant Downtown! Each time I've visited with my family, it's been an amazing experience! The last time I visited with my friend, it was spectacular! Our waiter made the evening so special and the food was remarkable! Will return very soon!
Everything was outstanding
My third time here. Superb in every way. The manhattan is the world’s best.
Nika was AMAZING! She walked us through an entire food tasting and took into consideration that my husband is allergic to shellfish. Every course was beyond exceptional from the kitchen. Each time a new course came out we would swear it was better than the last. The music and entire feel was perfection.
Once again the Charleston Grill lived up to being our favorite restaurant in Charleston. The combination of amazing food, incredible service and a lovely atmosphere with live jazz music made this a truly special evening for our 15th anniversary celebration. There are many restaurants that have good food, some even have decent service, but Charleston Grill takes it to a whole different level. And to have beautiful live jazz that doesn't overpower the dinner conversation is like the icing on cake. The special attention given to us for our anniversary (a card waiting on the table when we arrived, a plate of sweets with "Happy Anniversary" chocolate at the end of our meal) made us feel so special. The effort given to every detail is trill appreciated and we will continue to come back for every special occasion we celebrate. Luckily my birthday is next month! :)
Service and food were excellent. Expensive but high quality
Everything was wonderful!!. The food was delicious, the service was perfect and the ambiance was beautiful. Highly recommend.
We went to Charleston Grill to celebrate the final night of a wonderful vacation with family. The service was impeccable. The food was just outstanding. Each course was unique and delicious. There was quiet live music which was a pleasure to listen to. The location is perfect, right in the middle of beautiful, historic downtown Charleston. Overall, our dinner experience was outstanding.
Disappointing for New Years Eve. The Service was impeccable, the food was disappointing. The price fix menu had nothing special to make it a memorable evening. The main course choices of pasta, steak or lobster was unexciting, I had the lobster which the portion was similar to one (just one) large shrimp. My guest for the evening and my wife had the steak. They asked repeatedly if it could be prepared well done and was assured it could be. They choose that over the lobster selection. Both came out of the kitchen closer to medium rare or medium at best. My wife ate hers but gave me half because it was too rare for her. Our guest sent hers back twice and gave up, ate two bites and passed it to her husband.
In all fairness to the restaurant, they did comp us our bottle of wine and did try to get it right but if the kitchen is unable to cook a well done steak, they should not tell people they can. Take a special night like New Years Eve and combine it with one of Charleston's best restaurants, the last think you expect is disappointing night on the town.
The food atmosphere and service was outstanding one of the best restaurant I’ve ever been to
top notch restaurant in terms of décor, service & food. Tasting menu was fabulous with our server customizing the selections to our tastes. Outstanding wine list & a very knowledgeable sommelier added to our overall experience. Music was excellent with a violinist and guitarist providing great songs while still allowing conversations.
We enjoyed our dinners especially due to the kindness of the M'aitre De. Our table was great, after we moved away from the kitchen area. Tell me why one seems to always be seated near the kitchen when they don't know you! Anyway, we will definitely return there for another visit,
Food was poor service was great front of the house!
Best dining experience in Charleston!! Always amazing food and service. If you enjoy being pampered and having some of the best downtown spoil you, Charleston Grill is it!
What an amazing experience.. The food was off the chart, such depth of flavor and better than promised on the menu! The ambiance was superb! It only had a "hint" of being "high end".. in terms of snob service, but the server settled into our vibe, and then we were good! The desserts should NOT be skipped.. they were stellar. Although this restaurant offers top rated food and service, I was impressed with their ability to offer comfortable service, for those of us who don't want all of the "pomp" and such... Don't be intimidated.. GO for the wonderful food!!
It is our 10 year holiday tradition to have dinner at this great restaurant. We are never disappointed! Outstanding beef and fish (this time with exceptional sturgeon) and personal service with a complete wine list. I can not recommend highly enough.
My husband and I dined for the first time at the Charleston Grill for our anniversary. The food was divine and staff superb! We will definitely be back!
This was our first time dining here and it didn’t live up to all the hype it claims. The food was good but not fit for a foodie and certainly overpriced for the meal. They push to give you bottles and bottles of water to jack up the price, We we’re celebrating a birthday and all they gave was a card. Plenty of better restaurants in Charleston for sure
Everything was delicious and the jazz was wonderful. Noise level accommodated nice conversation at our table.
Always the best overall food, service and wonderful ambience. WE love coming here as the menu changes frequently with fresh seafood choices and other excellent options. A little pricey and would have liked more side choices to choose from. We had drinks at the beautiful bar before dinner, service quick and drinks ample. We try many restaurants when in Charleston and always return to C.P.Grill because it's consistent and delicious with delightful surprises, (our server went to the other bar to fill our request for a special after dinner drink)!!!! WOW!
Food and wait staff excellent. Management was very inattentive and biased to their personal favorites, not to the general clientele.
A little more upscale than I was expecting but the food and ambiance were top shelf.
Family of mom and daughters in town for Christmas.
Everything was perfect and delicious.
Came to Charleston for the holidays from out-of-state.
Charleston Grill was wonderful. We had the 6-course dinner, which was perfect for us. The live music, atmosphere and service was just what we were wanting to experience for a Charleston Christmas!
We dined here for Christmas dinner. FOOD - perfection. Best crab cake ever, perfectly tossed salad. I had lamb entree, my husband had the beef filet, we ate every bit. Creme brulee desert. As it was Christmas the menu was pre fix; we didn't mind as there were some good options. SERVICE-- Servers were very attentive and helped with selections, wine. Courses were delivered at correct intervals. We felt like the staff wanted us to have the best possible experience, and we did. AMBIANCE -- The environment here is elegant, classy. You can really dress up here. Men wore jackets, many with suit and tie. I wore a long gown. VALUE-- It is pricey, $110 + per person, plus wine, extras. Worth every dime!!!!!! You get a 5 star experience, you do pay. Overall one of the best dining experiences ever!!
Pris fix for Christmas and utterly enjoyable.
The venison was Devine and the lamb perfect!!
Great food and service
Charleston Grill doesn't disappoint. Wonderful staff, delicious food and a fantastic warm atmosphere make all meals there an event. Pre Christmas dinner for seven slightly exceeded the GDP of smaller nations, but well worth it.
We'll be back!
Wait service and dinning room outstanding
Excellent food and service. The oysters were terrific.
