Live Jazz: Sunday - Thursday 7:00pm -11:00pm, Friday & Saturday 8:00pm - 12:00am
Atmosphere was excellent, service was superb. The food was too salty, from the bread all the way through to the dessert. We had the crab appetizer and the crab was excellent but the sauce was so salty I couldn’t eat it. The red snapper was excellent but the sauces were too salty. The key lime cheesecake had salt on top with the pineapple. We paid too much for all that salt.
We celebrated our babymoon in Charleston and had a a lovely dinner at the Charleston Grill. We did the tasting menu and they made sure my food was
pregnancy friendly. It was so nice to have a elegant
meal without worrying about ingredients. The service and ambiance were wonderful. Plus, they had an alcohol-free wine, that made for a happy mom-to-be.
Excellent, the perfect restaurant! Live jazz, elegant setting, and excellent food.
Celebrated my 5 week anniversary to my smoking hot girlfriend. Ate a whole mess of stone crabs. Washed it down with a bucket full of Budweiser’s. Enjoyed the jazz (pronounces “yazz”) music. The Charleston Grill is a nice change of pace from our usual favorite restaurant, the Red Lobster. A+ dinner.
Expensive, but excellent food, ambience and drinks. Problems with kitchen that evening, but items removed from bill for the delay. Excellent service.
We had the four-course tasting menu tonight and it was the best four consecutive courses I’ve ever tasted. Taylor delivered impeccable service and provided perfect wine pairings with each course. Mickey Bakst was the consummate host. Another perfect night at Charleston Grill!
Interestingly, the manager came by and took our salt and pepper between courses. The entrees were fine, so we didn't really miss them. I busted his ba##s about it and he was apologetic. That was like the only odd or negative thing, apart from the lighting being too high. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience. You can't help but feel you are being treated like a special person when you dine here.
Overall good but got over charged $40+ of drinks I did not order. I hope not a regular occurrence. They took off bill when I pointed it out but I think they probably should have comped a couple drinks for this error.
Great food, ambiance, service, music. This is our favorite restaurant on the East Coast, perhaps in the U.S. The scallops were as good as I've had anywhere in the world.... We've been going to this restaurant for 12 or 15 years, never yet disappointed.
I was impressed with the restaurant’s level of courteous and attentive service and selection of wines on par with the best restaurants I have been to. I also enjoyed the jazz music, which was not too loud and rather a pleasant addition to the overall ambience.
The staff is always so wonderful!! Made the start of our honeymoon great!!
Our experience was an absolute delight at this neighborhood gem of a restaurant! The atmosphere is lovely and the staff is the epitome of Southern charm and graciousness. Our waiters, Trevor and Adam were a delight! The food was creative and delicious. The live jazz was wonderful!
The Charleston Grille provided impeccable food, service, and ambiance for my 30th birthday. We cannot show enough appreciation on the one of a kind experience that they provided. I have recommended the restaurant to several close couples for their escapes to Charleston.
Charleston Grill is THE FINEST of dining in this charming Southern city. Elegant yet comfortable surroundings. Superb service. Limited menu choices — but something for probably all tastes. Our waitress initiated our dining experience by delighting us with a tasty foie gras amuse bouche. My companion enjoyed a fresh, tasty vertical greens salad — while I began with an outstanding crab cake. Next for my companion was a wonderful preparation of sturgeon. Not commonly available — so a particular treat. My choice was butter-poached lobster fregola — savory and succulent — with perfectly prepared cous cous enhanced with thinly sliced zucchini, small white corn niblets and just the right amount of tomatoes. Fine breads and wine enhanced our dining. And an exquisite key lime cheesecake completed our meal. That is until our waitress surprised us once again — this time with an after-dinner thimble of spiced crushed raspberry juice. Refreshing and tasty. And then — as she brought our check — a plate of complimentary sweets. Truly the finest of dining experiences!
What a fantastic restaurant. I had the Lamb, which melted in my mouth. The wine list is second to none. Just a nice, cozy restaurant worth the expense & trip.
Everything including the food, the service, the jazz was excellent. GM Mickey goes above and beyond
We have taken many of our family and favorite friends to the Charleston Grill. We plan to do the same in the future. The food is delicious and the service superb.
Food and service was fantastic!
Saved this for our last night and it did not disappoint. Service was friendly and attentive without being obvious. Food was in step with low country classics however chef added surprises which were inventive, original and delicious.
Absolutely loved this place. Tasting menu and wine pairing were worth it. Great service. We’d happily return!
We were disappointed by the menu and the food was just good, not great. We have been to the Charleston Grill several times over the past ten years and have always loved it. This time, with very important guests and we were underwhelmed. When a restaurant is ranked 2 or 3 or 4 in Charleston, the expectations are high - the Charleston Grill did no meet these high expectations. The menu is very limited, the options are not exciting and some of the portions are disappointingly tiny (venison appetizer, beet salad are two examples). We were told it's a new menu. We had a great server and she was very knowledgable about the menu and some of the wine. The wine list is pricey with a lot of great bottles that are expensive to very expensive but have few that are under $100. We ordered Cabernet and the were only two bottles just under $100. I don't know if they have a corkage, but if they do, I would take my own wine.
Overall, we had a nice evening with friends, but Charleston Grill did not live up to our past experiences or it's current ratings. With so many great restaurants in town to choose from, we likely won't be back.
Best restaurant south of DC, hands down. Never lets us down.
The best restaurant in Charleston. Excellent food (crab cake appetizer was amazing), fabulous service, ambiance perfect. The live jazz loud enough to hear but not to interrupt any conversation.
Manager has really bad attitude, rude and disrespectful. Will never go back.
EXCELLENT JAZZ BAND THAT WE ENJOYED THOROUGHLY! WE EVEN CAME BACK THE NEXT NIGHT FOR COCKTAILS TO HEAR THE BAND AGAIN.
One of the best meals I have ever had. The 4 course meal plan was tremendous. My wife and I had the crab cake for an appetizer, followed by scallops and lamb for a mail course and a lovely dessert. It made our weekend getaway from work and the kids complete. A wonderful spot for a special occasion meal.
Amazing dining experience. So glad to make this a part of our trip. Our servers were extremely attentive and the food was phenomenal.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Charleston Grill and could not have been more pleased! The entire staff was exceptionally attentive, as were both the manager and the assistant manager. The food was exceptionally well prepared and exquisite.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food & wonderful service. A little pricey.
The food was great - serious effort to create interesting dishes. A quartet playing jazz to a largely unappreciative audience, but we loved it.
Charleston Grill continues to be our "go-to" restaurant in Charleston. The service at this restaurant is unparalleled in the Charleston area. The opportunity to have a restaurant in Charleston where you feel as if you are treated very specially and not as a tourist is wonderful. The tables are placed to allow you to have a private conversation. The food here is exceptional and unique. The bar service and the live jazz are an added bonus.
Great birthday dinner with outstanding service. The atmosphere is very relaxing and conducive to conversation. Highly recommend.
Charleston Grill provided exceptional service and delicious cuisine for a lovely dinner date. Mickey recommended the perfect wine to accompany our meal. Dinner at Charleston Grill is truly a memorable experience. The ambiance, music, service, and cuisine that pleases the most discerning palate, are second to none in Charleston. Chef Weaver consistently outdoes herself with her culinary expertise that seems to evolve each season.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Charleston Grill. The ambience was perfect with mello jazz music live , great menu and drinks. Service was very attentive and not too obtrusive. The food was really spectacular.
Service was outstanding. Menu items were unique and excellent. We ordered a tomato cobbler and it did not disappoint. The wait staff would just appear and tend to a water glass in need of refreshing or when it was time to order a desert or after dinner drink. Well managed and it showed.
We enjoyed a fabulous dinner with excellent service and wonderful light jazz music! Everything was excellent beginning with the host checking us in, throughout dinner and dessert! Not to be missed while in Charleston!!
We went for our Anniversary, it was great. The table had a card on it for us. Our servers were very attentive. Food was delicious. They gave us complimentary wine and dessert. Highly recommend. We will return when we are in town.
Delicious! Great special occasion spot with live music.
One of the best meals we’ve ever head. The staff was amazing and knowledgeable. The ambiance was top notch.
Great meal and wonderful service.
