Beautiful, elegant, white table cloth dining. Attentive friendly staff and prompt service. Live 2 piece jazz combo. Quite conversation place with a warm upbeat feeling. First floor n the old Omni off King. Would definitely return.
We enjoyed an outstanding anniversary dinner at the Charleston Grill. The food and service could not have been any better. Dinners are a little pricey but....are well worth it. While it was our anniversary and we received special attention I could observe that every table and every guest were treated with outstanding service. We will return again on out next trip to Charleston.
We had an outstanding meal here. The "tasting menu" is a system by which you get to choose any five things from the menu (not counting the caviar...) plus dessert, and each person at the table gets a half portion of each. I suppose there are people who might find they didn't get enough food this way, but we were completely satisfied. The crab cakes were just what they should be: lump crab just bound together. Scallops were perfect; creamed chanterelles on grits with shrimp and country ham a nice combination; duck foie gras exactly right, and the roasted squab excellent as well. Presentations and accompaniments were appetizing and appropriate. Nothing we had was remarkably creative, but everything was just as it should be, something that's rarer to find than the exotic.
We ordered a split of Billecart-Salmon Rosé to start, and a very nice 2011 Nuits-St. Georges from the extensive (and not seriously overpriced) wine list. It turned out they didn't have the champagne chilled yet, so they offered us a glass of another rosé champagne while we waited. There was also a complimentary glass of a nice dessert wine, though I forget the details.
The service was unusually good, even for a restaurant of this quality. I had mentioned that it was our 38th anniversary, and there was a card at our table, and all of the waitstaff from the hostess at the door to the wine steward wished us a happy anniversary. People were there when it was useful, and not there when it wasn't. Altogether the nicest anniversary dinner we could imagine.
My wife and I visited Charleston Grill for my birthday - it was a wonderful experience. The food was great and the service impeccable. During dinner, a Bosa Nova group performed; it provided nice background music without being intrusive. I would highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
I requested to be seated near the live music and my fiancée and I were given then best seat right next to the jazz band. Food was good but the overall evening was great! Special place.
Food and service was five star‼️ Would recommend to all tourist or residents of the area‼️
Beautiful experience... A must do in Charleston.
In our opinion, this is absolutely Charleston's foremost restaurant in every category. We celebrated our anniversary there and took a 1982 Bordeaux first growth that we had cellared. Mickey Bakst, the incredible maitre d', recognized it immediately and saw to it that our server respected it for exactly what it was. Our servers, Andrew and Paul, provided excellent, professional service throughout the meal, but everyone on the staff works to make sure that all guests have the utmost in service. The food was exceptional. We started with the caviar dish, enjoyed a crabcake appetizer and topped that off by splitting the 22 oz ribeye - enough for both at dinner and leftovers for the night after. This was certainly a splurge (our 50th anniversary), but you don't have to go to these extremes to fully enjoy the ambiance, service and food at Charleston Grill.
excellent service. incredible food. fantastic atmosphere. expensive, but worth it. we love coming here whenever we can! never disappoints!
Everything was superb!! Great food, ambiance and service!
Took an overnight trip to Charleston in order to have a nice meal and chose Charleston Grill which we have been to on several previous trips to Charleston. Food was wonderful as usual and service was outstanding. We split the tuna appetizer. Both the Thai fish and Lowcountry Muddle entrees were very good.
Everything about dining at this restaurant is high-end without being pretentious. Absolutely delicious and unique food. Staff's attention to detail is noteworthy -- it's present as you are greeted and seated through when it's time leave; making you feel like royalty. Every step to ensure you have the best meal is made and they accomplish that completely.
Service was beyond great. Very attentive but not overbearing. Flounder dish was out of this world. Gluten free options are available including bread. Jazz band was soothing to listen to. Lots of gifts from the chef (amuse bouche). Class act all the way. By far the best meal I've had in Charleston thus far.
Excellent Restaurant. Service, Food , Wine and Atmosphere all 5 star. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it.
This would be a very fine restaurant even in New York City. Certainly this is one of the very best restaurants in Charleston - and that is with a lot of strong competition.
Food was excellent. Service was superb.
We celebrated our engagement here at Charleston Grill two years ago and returned to celebrate our second anniversary. While I did note the fact we were celebrating our anniversary in the comments section of the reservation, my wife and I were totally blown away by our reception. We were greeted as old friends immediately acknowledging and congratulating us on our anniversary and (GET THIS) seated at the exact same table of our engagement with our host even stating he believed this was where he seated us two years ago!!! Now for the restaurant: Atmosphere is elegant and extremely comfortable. Service is top notch, impeccable! The wait staff knows the menu, they know their wines, and they time everything perfectly. The food was plentiful and excellent! Choices were tough, but we thoroughly enjoyed the foie gras, fried chicken livers, the pork rib steak, and the squab. Our server topped off the evening with a beautiful, hand made "Happy Anniversary" desert of assorted chocolates and other sweets. This is the place to go to celebrate or to impress.
Amazing experience! As always, service was superb -Bryan and Steve were fabulous! Everyone who encountered or assisted us were personable, friendly and absolutely excellent. Great bottle of Schramsburg with oysters and foix gras! Wonderful Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with Thai fish, pork chop, lamb and scallops. Brussel sprouts and roasted carrots were great to share. Wonderful, relaxed dinner!!!
Food was amazing as was the service! Chip waited on us and treated us perfectly. They went above for our anniversary as well which made the whole night that much better.
This restaurant was 5 stars... ambiance, live music, food, service! A very memorable experience. If its a special occasion for two I recommend reserving a banquette table near the band. Its not too loud either. located in the Belmond Charleston place hotel.. Reservations are a must!!
Great celebratory meal at Charleston grill. Service and food was amazing. Band playing in background was good.
Have eaten there several times and the experience with always first class. This time, not so much. Our waiter has always been very personable, asking about our visit, if this was a special occasion etc. They checked their data system for info on our previous visits. This time, none of that was done. The wait staff has always been very attentive. This time, not so much. Since we were staying at the property, we had always been given the option of having dinner billed to our room. That was not an option this time.
Food was way over priced based on quality and quantity received. Lots of great ratings for this place but once we did find it (GPS and eyes couldn't do it), it was located inside a hotel. Service and ambiance, along with live music, were all very nice. The price paid was just too much. Meat was tough. Appetizers were so-so. Dessert was nothing special. So unless you like paying $200 for two people to eat, with no alcoholic beverages included, you might look for another restaurant in Charleston.
Dinner was fabulous. Our server Adam was exceptional. Would come back again and definitely would ask for Adam to serve us he was outstanding and made us feel special!! Thank you Adam!!
Wonderful service, delicious food. Fantastic overall.
We were treated very well in both the Charleston Place Hotel & Charleston grill! The atmosphere was great but the food was just average. I do plan on giving them another try someday soon.
As always the staff, food and atmosphere did not disappoint!
A lovely, cozy, fine dining experience, very good food and large enough entrees to take home if that's your thing. It was pleasantly "unstuffy" and yet maintained a high end feel. Service was exceptional. My only complaint would be: we were seated next to the restroom/kitchen in the back room which really hindered me from fully enjoying a special birthday night out with my husband... especially since we don't get out on the town too often! Our reservation was for 5:30 pm when the establishment opens for the evening, and the place was pretty empty at the time. So being seated in the back room by the kitchen/restrooms was off putting to say the least. I would suggest to everyone when making reservations there to be very specific about where you'd like to sit. Seemed to me the front rooms were the nicest with the best ambiance.
Excellent meal with great service. Husband says one of the best steaks he has ever had
Our favorite restaurant in the world! Which is saying a lot considering we travel a lot, and eat out very frequently
Promptly seated. Very professional wait staff. The service was excellent. Food allergy for both of us was managed excellently. Chef adjust menu perfectly. Nice presentation. Enjoyed the live music too. Well done. Highly recommended.
Service was amazing, attention to detail, excellent food, live jazz was perfect compliment to everything. One of the best dinners I've had. A must visit for Charleston. You won't be disappointed!
I introduced my out of town family to our favorite of all restaurants. Now The Charleston Grill is also their favorite and they have dined all over the world. I can’t say enough good things about this exceptional restaurant.
The beef was low quality, stringy and not a prime cut. Something out of a discount section of a grocery store. It was burned on the outside then over sauced to cover up the low quality.
You would be better served to book a different restaurant!
Excellent food and service as always. Was there for a birthday and they had a card and the staff were all informed.
What a special and delicious place to dine! From the moment we walked in the entire staff was attentive and very accommodating ! A must while in Charleston!
This was an outstanding dining experience. The food selection we chose on the prefix were on the regular menu. Excellent! Bryan was our host and his assistant was Chip! They serviced us well except during the courses we felt a bit hurried. It was Thanksgiving. The only real criticism we have was the mandatory 20% gratuity on our bill with room for an additional tip. Really? On two people? Perhaps for a large party. We don’t believe that policy served them well either way.
Fois gras excellent crab cakes too die for flounder stuffed excellent lamb was prepared perfect all this paired with some fine wines
Rick, Mickey, Andrew and Andre made our dinner unforgettable. This is definitely our favorite place to dine in Charleston.
It was a wonderful way to begin the holidays!!
