I would suggest not asking for a spicy Caesar as they made it over the top spicy to the point where we could not drink it. The carbonara was so rich and creamy even prior to the egg yolk being mixed in so it was a very heavy meal (I am assuming they use butter and heavy cream). The pasta was over cooked (not al dente) as it needed to be hot while we stirred the yolk in. Meh. We definitely had higher hopes for the overall experience.

My husband and I went for my birthday lunch and everyone there was beyond attentive and recognized it was my special day including proving us with a special appetizer on the house. The lunch special is such a great way to try a few things on the menu is by far the best value for quality food in downtown Calgary. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet comfortable and casual enough that you don’t feel uncomfortable. Food came out fast and hot. I would highly recommend this place for any occasion!

Always order the sandwich board at lunch. Always. Best deal and it's amazing and quick. Plus cookies.

I have had business lunches at Charcut before and they were all excellent value. However, this was my first dinner experience and it was average at best. We shared the prime rib and the quality wasn't great with a very high price tag. The service was excellent. However, if you are going to pay this kind of money for a special occasion meal of average quality then rather go to another high end establishment. I would recommend Charcut for a business lunch but not dinner. Just too expensive for mediocre food.

Place is great, very cosy feel and the lunch menu is great. Servers generally are very enthusiastic and helpful, though this time it seemed like our waiter wasn't very interested in serving us and just trying to pass his day. Lunch options is awesome, lots of food and always feel full leaving

Charcut is not what it used to be. Food is now prepared well in advance and sits waiting. The disappointment was real. Used to look forward to eating here, time to find another spot!

The food was very good. Fresh, high quality ingredients. My husband is more of a meat and potatoes guy where as I am a bit more adventurous. It is often hard for us to find a place that satisfies us both... this was it. Honest dishes done right without too much pomp. What really stood out was our amazing server. Her menu knowledge and wine recommendations were beyond on point. Would definitely go again.

Fantastic restaurant not too loud, music was a little loud in our location but otherwise great and fast service, highly recommended. Very nice place if you're trying to impress a date

I usually really like to come here for lunch but this time I was disappointed. I am lactose intolerant and their lunch special was a soup and a sandwich with milk in it. The waitress offered to have the soup without milk but the sandwich in the "special"was impossible to make lactose free as the cheese was already mixed in. So I picked a chicken sandwich that wasn't very good. Some bones was still in it as well as crunchy matter, with very little chicken. So for a small sandwich with almost no meat, french fries, and a coffee, it was 22$. The waitress nicely brought me their awesome cookies. That made me happy.:)

We have been here quite a few times , just wasn't as delicious as we remember. Usually comes out on a block as a share plate, this time it was just a piece of meat on a plate. So we didn't have enough room on the table for all the things we ordered. The food was good but had to send the prime rib back for extra cooking. Will probably return ....just not right away.

First our reservation was reported as a “no show” to open table, and we were actually even a few minutes early for our reservation.
They offered us a poor table when every option was open, our waitress was unfriendly and condescending, I had to repeatedly ask for my water glass to be filled, I was only asked once in 2 1/2 hrs if I would like another cocktail...
Our appetizers were overpriced and unimpressive, my main course was delicious...
We had to ask for our bill...
We are regular downtown diners...have seen many places come and go...
Choices are becoming few and far between.
We won’t be back to Charcut

Chacut's Lunch all at once is a quick and tasty way to enjoy lunch in a great ambiance. A couple of the people we dined with had the blue nose fish special, which was also good. The take-away cookies are delicious!!

I first went to Charcut shortly after it first opened and had a great experience with friends.

This visit, March 2018, was entirely different. While the service was fine the overall food experience was terrible. The appetizers, an octopus dish and a cheese dish were alright. I love braised meats so I ordered the lamb which came topped with feta and fried chickpeas...... it was the worst braised meat dish I’ve ever had.... ever..... lacking flavor with an overall dry taste. The brocollini side dish was terrible and should just be removed from the menu. I don’t know how anyone would enjoy that, it’s kind of a failed attempt at something similar to a creamed spinach. We also ordered the NY strip..... meh.... Dessert, a chocolate pudding was average.

I would never return to this restaurant. If you are going to charge top shelf prices at least produce some top shelf food.

This is about the tenth time I have been to CHARCUT. My expectations are always high based on the hype and exposure that the restaurant has received. Apparently I am a slow learner as I am always underwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong, the food was”good” - well seasoned and well prepared - BUT at this price range they need to up their game. The steak special was flavourful in terms of what the presented but really meat and potatoes with a big of green sauce that enhanced moderately at best (they tried calling it salsa verde).

C’mon Connie - number 11 visit needs to be better or it’s the last.

Big Taste menu. Imaginative and tasty.

Our second try here ...first time, shortly after they opened years ago, we were ambivalent and given alternative restaurants around town, decided not to return.

This time Big Taste and a performance at Jack Singer had us downtown, so we decided to try again. 9.5 of 10. A very pleasant experience. Service was excellent, meal was exceptional ...we'll be back.

We received a gift certificate for Christmas from our son who frequents your restaurant often. We decided to go during the “Big Taste” thinking we would get a sample of your menu items. The meat feature was roast pork loin which we received three pieces between two of us. The food was very tasty but for the price ($65:00 each) the quantity was very disappointing and pork loin isn’t the most expensive cut of meat. The cauliflower salad and the cheesecake were delicious.

Not from Calgary but we have been to this restaurant before. Obviously it had left a good impression with us the first time so decided to go again. Service was a little slow at first and found the ambience somewhat lacking where we were sat. It was an 8:30 reservation on a Thursday night and not overly busy so not sure why the service didn’t quite make us feel welcome. AThe food was great except for the broccolini dish which was very bitter. We were honest with the waitress when she asked us how it was since she recommended it and well whatever... The rest of the meal was very good with no complaints.
