CHARCUT Ratings and Reviews
Very nice room, good service and nice wine list. The meal was underwhelming. Starter sausage skillet was disjointed (jalapeno maybe could have been charred?) and not worth the price. Mid course rigatoni carbonara with guancale was tasty and I would recommend it to those set on dining here. The feature steak sadly had not been seasoned and the salsa verde lacked punch.
Great food. The waiter was amazing he enjoyed his work and it showed. Found prices a little high but for the location they would be in line. Did find the place a little noisy that said it was New Year’s Eve so everyone was a little louder than usual and there were a few parties there. I would definitely recommend as a great date night.
Nothing worse than coming in from the cold and being greeted by a stuck up hostess. No smile no,friendly greeting. Why? Because she doesn’t look up from her screen. “Hello” and “how are you today” were both delivered without so much as even making eye contact. Call me old fashioned but hospitality and greetings are best executed when looking at someone. My server was okay, attentive without being welcoming. As the hostess said to me “we are VERY busy you know ...”. Sounds like the line from Pretty Woman. The front of house staff here are too cool for school. I left the standard 15% tip because the back of House excelled. Food was great and fast, I received my meals before I could even get my glass of wine. Wine was lovely but that credit belongs elsewhere. The kitchen carries this place. But not enough to recommend it. Great food elsewhere in Calgary with great servers too.
Services was awful. Waitress was very rude, impatient with our questions, and rarely came to the table.
Food was almost inedible - two diners ordered the steak special, and there was so much lemon in the sauce it was absolutely overwhelming. Tasted more like ceviche than steak.
Internet was down, so they would only accept cash and credit card. There was no mention of this until the end of the meal when she didn’t explain it but demanded a credit card.
Then she never came by to pick up the slip (with ALL our credit card info) and was so rude when I asked her to pick it up.
Will NOT be returning.
My friends and I have visited for weekend dinner. The food was mediocre in flavour and the server was not so impressive either.
When he explained about the specials of the day, he was just looking at the ceiling(tried to remember the lines) and just spoke very fast as not giving us any good impression.
Furthermore, when I asked him about what kind of white fish the special was, he just said it’s between Halibut and Snapper, clearly not knowing the details. Also he was very rushing throughout the entire time whenever he needs to say something to us (menu explanation, checking up for flavour etc. even when the restaurant was not busy)
This place is located in convenient spot and has good vibes but based on my previous visit, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
This was my first time at Charcut. I really enjoyed the Prime Rib - it was cooked to perfection & melted in my mouth with every bite. We also ordered the octopus and oysters to start which were also fantastic. The octopus was cooked in an amazing sauce & was very tender. The dessert was great too! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and would definitely come back.
The washrooms were absolutely disgusting. For an upscale restaurant, washrooms should be checked for cleanliness and need a renovation.
I probably wouldn't come back because of the washrooms. Even though I have dined at Charcut many times and that was the first time using the washroom.
Went with a couple of colleagues and as usual was just blown away by delicious food and efficient service!
The All at since meal at Charcut is so on point - fast and tasty! This is why we come here almost every time for all our business meals!
Thank you for another wonderful meal. See you Tuesday! 😁
I have been to Charcut mostly for their lunch. It is high quality food at a very reasonable price and the staff is amazing. A few times the chef has gone around and introduced themselves for an added touch. I recommend Charcut as a nice relaxing place to sit down at lunch.
Was disappointed as not enough different main course dishes! Most of all booked ahead and it was my husband's b day and they didn't seem to care where they seated us! And no b day cake as I saw one delivered to a table but larger crowds count more as we both noticed! Anyhow are waiter was excellent with service & suggestions! Won't be going there again as we usually stay at least twice a year at Le Germaine!
Food was great, didn’t get a hello from the server. The only greeting we got was asking whether we wanted still or sparkling water... No food quality checks on any of our courses, drinks took >10 min in a non full section. Tad bit disappointing for the caliber of restaurant that it should be.
I came in on a Tuesday afternoon right after the lunch rush. We were seated in the corner by the large windows that overlook the street. I ordered the hot cocoa while I waited for my friend and her baby to arrive. The hot cocoa wasn't anything to write home about and I found it not worth the money but the service was absolutely amazing. We had a server who I didn't catch the name of who I thought was such an amazing personality. She had short, around chin length blonde hair. Super friendly, came at the right times, wasn't intrusive. She was just perfect! My friend and I had ordered the 16$ sandwich lunch that came with the soup, fries and cookies. Everything tasted really good, even cold as I ended up spending most of my time engrossed in the baby. Coming from someone who used to work in the industry, what really stood out was the service. She wasn't offended when my friend and I were deep into conversation, checked to make sure we were alright at just the perfect time intervals, our glasses were always filled with water, she even cooed at my friends baby as well. At the end, my friend had left her credit card and we were already a block down the street and the server came running to return the credit card. Whoever you are, thank you! Thank you for putting up with a baby and us, we had a great time and mostly in part to you. I hope management recognizes that because you are certainly great at what you do.
