Charcoal Steak House Ratings and Reviews
I made our reservations weeks prior for my boyfriends birthday. We had 7:30 reservations which we got there a few min prior to our time. As we watched several couples being taken to their tables the 6 of us patiently waited with no one explaining to us what the hold up was. After 15 min of waiting we were told that the 4 people at our table weren’t leaving. I told them that I made reservations and we should not have to wait which is the whole purpose of making a reservation. The manager said that they time slot each table for a two hr max stay but they can’t guarantee anything. Once again I asked what the purpose of making a reservation was. The manager could tell that I was getting upset as this was my my boyfriends first time going to this place and I wanted to make his birthday dinner really special.
After waiting we thought we would sit at the bar well we found a table but were told we couldn’t sit there bc we didn’t have a reservation and of course there wasn’t an actual spot at the bar. We left the bar again and the manager asked if we wanted to get a table at the pasta restaurant but still have their menu. I stated that we made a reservation for charcoal and I expected to sit at the charcoal. She suggested we wait in the heated patio area and she would come get us once our table was ready. We waited for over an hr for our table and had plans for a certain time. I am extremely disappointed with the service. The food was ok nothing special.
Over the years I have dined at the Charcoal many times and the food has always been very good. I usually order steak. This time the quality of the steak was not the same and also it was overcooked so I asked for it to be replaced.. The replacement was cooked to my liking but the meat was still not up to par. I had also asked for a side order of red wine demi-glaze , but what I got was not red wine demi-glaze. I know the difference, because I buy the demi-glaze from the Charcoal , whenever I cook steak at home. But the staff on the other hand were very polite and did everything to accommodate me. Not their fault. So overall I think this might have been a bad night for the chef and the kitchen staff. I will still eat at the Charcoal and recommend it .
Charcoal Group ALL of the groups restaurants are always TOP NOTCH, atmosphere with great service and great menu options, always mean a GREAT NIGHT OUT In the words of TOny the Tiger, GREEATTTTT! Specail shout out to, Stephanie our server was very busy, but was OUTSTANDING! Ands she has a DAY JOB Mother of two young children to boot. TY Michael
This was our Anniversary and my wife's birthday. We had asked to be in the Cellar but were taken to another room. We ordered cocktails and the martini had the wrong olives. My manhattan was not in a stemmed glass. This was rectified by our server who then took the food and wine order. The food arrived before the wine and before we had finished our cocktails. It was sent back. It was returned when we requested, It was lukewarm and the plate was cold. We sent it back and when it returned there was no appreciable difference. The manager arrived and said it would be redone. Again it arrived lukewarm. We cancelled the order, finished our wine and left. We were not charged for the food. After dining at the Charcoal for over thirty years we will not return.
We enjoyed our dinner although we thought that the menu was limited. I wanted to have fish, but only choices were salmon and tuna. I had the prime rib which was very delicious.
I usually order beer, but it was overpriced in my mind.
Overall, it is a nice restaurant for a once a year get together, but would not consider going otherwise.
The food and service was excellent. We love the Charcoal! But- we couldn't get a table until 7:50 and had 7:30 reservations. We rechecked with the staff at the desk and only then did they switch tables for us or else we would have been waiting even longer. Diners shouldn't be allowed to linger and talk after they've paid their bill, especially when the next round of customers are waiting in the lobby for half an hour.
To go to a Steak House and not have steak wouldn't make much sense so everyone in our party had a steak of some sort. 2 wanted it well done and the chef butterflied it so that it was cooked just the way they liked and not burnt on the outside. Vegetables were nice and crisp and although they were out of our first wine selection the second, a Chilean wine, was very nice. The Waitstaff were attentive, friendly and helpful. We had made reservations (highly recommended) and our table was ready on time. 4 of us, bottle of wine, a couple alcoholic beverages and the bill was just over $200. The only slight disappointment was the garlic bread recipe has changed and I have to admit I really enjoy the old crispier style. Very enjoyable evening.
We went to celebrate our 39th anniversary together. Both dinners were alright but certainly not what we expected from the Charcoal. Dinners were warm, not hot. My wife's dinner was to come with Brussels sprouts. She had one on her plate along with a bunch of sauce and small onions. When we told the waitress she smiled and laughed a bit and then just left us sitting there. Just not what I would expect for a $34.00 plate per person. The atmosphere is very nice. Will go back, think it might have been an off night - we hope!
The food was excellent, charcoal did not disappoint in this regard. I was, however, very surprised as to how casual the dress code has become. There was a time when charcoal did not allow any type of jeans to be worn and my mother and I felt a little uncomfortable since we were dressed up. The service was wonderful and we felt very well taken care of.
unfortunately, my chicken dish was raw in the middle and I didn't realize it until I'd had a bite already, which totally grossed me out. The other diners at my table had wonderful meals. Our server was excellent and very apologetic about the chicken. The meal was also taken off our bill, as I would fully expect. Other than the chicken issue, our time there was very lovely.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at the Charcoal and it meant the world to us that they asked us if we were celebrating something and acknowledged it with a little dessert and chocolate written note ! Those are the little special touches that matter so thank you !
The service was really good and the food was fantastic. They gave us time to relax and enjoy a drink before we ordered. The arrival of the food was timed perfectly and the manager came and asked how we enjoyed it. Because we were there for a special occasion they gave us a complimentary dessert to share, it was delicious.
My wife ordered steak and it was done perfectly (Well done).
The dinner rolls were delicious.
Both of us had the Caesar Salad and it was delicious, but a tad spicy.
I had the Prime Rib 8 oz done medium well and it was absolutely delicious.
It was a very nice touch when the Waitress brought a complimentary brownie to celebrate our anniversary. That is going the distance.
We would highly recommend the Charcoal to anyone.
