As always... great food, great wait staff, great view, great experience. Thank you!
Have read great reviews but never had an opportunity to visit. I'm glad we did. The menu is unique and the dishes I sampled and ate were delicious. There is no other restaurant in the area which offers this level of culinary talent.
Had dinner with two friends. It was busy but not slammed so we didn’t feel pressured to get done. Wait staff was very good. She checked on us just the right amount of times. The hot chicken was very good. The pickled cucumber that cane with were a pleasant surprise. We will be glad to go back for another friends get together.
Fantastic as always!!! Everything is always so different and exciting...fresh and tasty! The pasta was phenomenal (perfect for our vegetarian guest) and the chicken never disappoints. The Duck was perfectly done and scallops delicious. And that was just the main main course! The starters were... one more delicious than the next. And the bread...amazing!
Dinner was so good that we are now back for breakfast!
Creative, delicious food prepared professionally and served with hip, friendly servers. Best food in area, worth the drive.
Charcoal is a fun find! The menu is not large, but you want to order everything on it because it all sounds so good! We would return for a special occasion or just spur of the moment dining. We really enjoyed the our meal and conversation with friends. BYOB
This is a great local spot for a quick lunch or dinner. The pasta dishes are always amazing and they come in a small or large plate. Charging $5 for bread is a bit much, most places even in pricey Philly areas that are in the same price range include it-but okay, I’ll go along with this. The bread is wonderful. As is dessert here....my favorite guilty pleasure is the donut. OMG....there’s none even close anywhere. It’s less than 1/2 mile from my home and I appreciate the sophistication and style of the menu-small but premium choices, great ingredients of high quality (like the Griggstown Chicken)....we keep coming back and feeling grateful that we have this option nearby.
Dishes ranged from good to excellent--important to choose carefully, given the higher than average prices. (Of course, bringing your own does help offset the prices...)
The heirloom tomato salad was fine, though a couple of more slices of tomato would have been appreciated. The rye radiatori was was tasty dish, more so because of the bacon bolognese. Of the mains, the seared duck breast was exceptional, both for the tenderness of the meat and the creative blend of peanuts, grilled watermelon (!), and coconut yogurt. Must try! The other main, hanger steak, while perfectly acceptable, was uninspiring. The meat itself was sinewy in places, and the accompanying horseradish mashed potatoes were doled out quite sparingly, as if something quite precious. Our spirits were lifted once more by the dessert, the polenta budino, a winning combination of sweet, crunchy, and salty.
Overall, a very good experience that, with a little better luck in selection, could have been excellent.
Food always well prepared and interesting. Seasonal additions are delicious and make return trips worth it. Serving staff is well versed in the menu selections and are ready to advise on ingredients and preparations.
Wonderful spot for lunch recently. It's BYOB with large windows overlooking the Delaware.Salads and sandwiches attractively presented and delicious. Only three dessert choices, but all winners. Ice cream made in house as are the breads..
This place continually blows our minds! Great BYO with amazing chefs, awesome food, perfect ambiance and top notch service. PS. Get the donuts for dessert - they're so good we're having them as dessert at our wedding!
The portion size is shrinking, but the flavor is exploding. Everything was delish except the blah blah cucumber salad.
This is without question the best restaurant in the area. The dishes they create are no less than genius. I go here often and am constantly impressed. The menu changes constantly and the ingredients are locally produced where possible. I'd eat anything they served even if it was something I generally do not like,I know I would like their version of it. 6 out of 5 stars
I LOVE this place. Been here 3 or 4 times and always have an amazing meal. It is definitely a bit pricey so we reserve it for special occasions, but always worth every penny. The food is fresh, innovative, creative, and delicious! Everything is bursting with flavor and color. One of my all-time favorite places. Great for date night!
We came during restaurant week, but there was no mention of that, either on the restaurant's website or during the reservation process. The limited price-fix was $36, and 4 of the dishes offered were pastas, a cheap strategy on the restaurant's part. The house bread, which is a simple no-knead, is priced at $5 an order, which seems exorbitant. Portions were very small, and the deep-fried hangar steak was just wrong -- ill-conceived and tasteless. Of the party of 6, 2 didn't want dessert, and yet we had to pay the full price anyway.
Food was awesome!!! Perfect date night with my husband! BYO which is awesome too!
Went for Restaurant Week. Had the scallops. They were cooked to perfection--I gave the chef a 2 thumbs up. The amount of everything was just enough--didn't have to bring some of it home. Very fresh and creative, but simple ingredients--the way it should be.
We chose Charcoal based on one past visit, and reviewing the menu on the website. However, when we got there, we found they were participating in Yardley Restaurant Week. So many of the dishes we were looking forward to weren't available. Would have been nice if the website had made mention of restaurant week, since they obviously update the menu on the website for seasonal dishes. We will probably go back, but not frequently. Takes about 25 minutes from home, and costs about $100 for two, even though it's BYOB. Not an every week destination.
Food is creative and delicious. View of the river is lovely, and they were able to honor my request for a table by the window. We were entertaining a friend from the south of France so this was important to me. Our waitress was efficient but a little on the surly side.
Every dish more amazing than the next. Never disappoints. The place to go when you want to impress your guests.
Limited menu. We happened to choose successfully. Food was good but...
If we chose other options???
Good food, everything a la cart, including the bread! Earthy dinnerware, diner type utencils? BYOB, still on pricey side. Limited selection.
perfection. I eat there too often to review very time -- but for now -- we ate there last night and were dazzld the duck was crispy on the outside, just right on the inside and the watermelon side was out of this world.
The best in Buck's County, consistent, inventive, delicious!
This restaurant is great for breakfast (served until 2 pm) or lunch; there is an extensive selection of sandwiches, salads, burgers, omelets, etc. All the food is fresh and well-prepared, well-presented. Prices are moderate.
As an excellent home chef I often more than not can always improve on the dish I have ordered.
NOT HERE all I can say is WOW and THANK YOU... Everything was exceptional!!!
I will be back! Liked the I/2 portion option on the pastas as we could not wrap to go … Great spot when staying over near the Trenton airport. View of the river at sunset was a plus!!
As usual, I was not disappointed with the quality of food and inventive cuisine. Took my friends for dinner and they were really impressed. My favorite restaurant by far. I live in New Hope and we have a few good places here but if i want a "treat" i go to Charcoal.
The food is exceptional and the menu changes occasionally so there is always something different. The staff is friendly and helpful. Don’t forget to save room for the incredible desserts!
Place is just Ok. Nothing that special. Ordered calamari and tuna for appetizer, they lacked any pop very bland. Wife had the fish it was ok. I had the duck breast which was below average. Would debate about going back. There are better places to eat than here.
Great food. Excellent view of river. A bit overpriced. Menu is a bit limited. It could use a few more light and healthy items.
Fantastic restaurant with elevated food. You can taste the difference from other restaurants. The chefs work their craft to come up with new innovative dishes. Great food.
Great BYOB. Excellent food. Small Plate. Great view over the river.
excellent food put together in a very creative way
Best restaurant in Yardley
the food is outstanding and such a nice atmosphere
My first time at Charcoal did not disappoint! Great, funky food. Simple menu so everything was good.
Another tasty dinner at charcoal. Although the portion size seems to be getting smaller, the flavor of the food is getting better
In my opinion Charcoal continues to be one of the best restaurants in the area. The food Is consistently good, the river views are beautiful and the service is excellent.
