The food is delicious, fresh, and creative. The wait staff is great. And the ambiance welcomes conversation and quality time spent. Charcoal is one of my new favorite places to dine.

Our first visit to Charcoal this past Saturday, November 11, 2017, and it didn't disappoint. Starting with the bread, it reminded me of the bread my grandmother used to make and we all ate it hot out of the oven. Salads, entrees, simply delicious, we will definitely go back, and well worth the 30 minute drive.

Small menu but wonderful food and good service. We were a party of six and everyone had something different and they very much liked their choices. Optional sizes for many of the choices made it nice to be able to sample more than one dish. Would recommend for foodies!

Our dinner was fabulous! We are a party of 4 and we all loved our meals. Must order the sourdough bread as a starter and the doughnuts for desert! We really enjoyed our evening at Charcoal and certainly will return!

I don't order the appetizer size pasta dish, they are so good that I always order the entrée size. My wife did the same, thinking that she would have leftovers to take home. No pasta made it home that night. Everything we ordered was excellent.

This restaurant keeps getting better and better. Green apple salad with crunchy grains and nuts yummy! The hanger steak with broccolini and hazelnut pesto was the perfect entree. Someone had the hot chicken and we all got s taste. It was moist and tender. Don’t forget their in house baked sourdough bread with Vermont butter. Bread doesn’t get much better than this! AND the donuts for dessert with caramel sauce. Service was very atttentive. BYOB. Try it you won t be disappointed.

We dined there years ago but have not returned for dinner until now. People should be warned that the menu is quite limited and you will either love the concept or dislike it completely
I don't order fish out so I chose not to order an entree Instead I decided to try the bacon bolongnese starter (small size) which was a hefty portion and plenty to eat! I must warn you that it is very rich so bring some wine to cut it! I ordered the apple salad first which I loved
But the best part of the meal was the delicious bread. Worth the money!
Check the menu online before you go just to give you an idea that this place is different! BYOB and also enjoy the view out the window if you can!
With all this I MUST add that I LUV this place for brkfst!!!!!!! Go early or plan to wait forever!

Our first visit to Charcoal BYOB, but certainly not our last. Located overlooking the Delaware in Yardley, Charcoal is located on the second floor (steps from ground level, elevator for those whose mobility is impaired). Dining room is large, with some seating by windows overlooking the river, others in the interior of the room and a counter facing the kitchen. The size of the dining room makes Charcoal a bit less intimate than other fine restaurants. This is more than compensated by the quality of the food and the excellent service. Ingredients are fresh, often local, and imaginatively prepared. Menu modifications for dietary preferences are cheerfully accommodated. Prices are moderate (expect $100-110 per couple for two starters, two mains and a shared dessert). BYO a real plus....get a special bottle from your cellar or wine store to pair with the excellent food here.

Such a great space! Intimate, tasteful, quiet. The service was great, the food was fantastic. The parking situation is a bit prohibitive, and it's a hike from most anywhere, but we'll be back. Highlights were the view, the bread (yes, the bread), beet tartare, and brioche donuts.

Never disappointed. The menu is small but well thought out. Should find something for everyone as long as you are not a picky eater. The menu is creative and might change based upon fresh available ingredients. Nice atmosphere with good views.

We enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner at Charcoal at a table overlooking the Deleware River (request ahead). We had the bread (a must before dinner and for soaking up the tasty sauces with dinner). We ordered 3 small noodle bowls and the hangar steak dinner, all of which we shared. Excellent very low key and unhurried service and an attentive waiter. The food was wonderful, flavorful, and innovative. Dessert of carrot cake with homemade vanilla ice cream topped off a fabulous dinner. Bring a nice bottle of wine, sit back and enjoy this little gem right in the Herat of Yardley. There's nothing else like it locally.

The food never disappoints at Charcoal. The pierogies may be one of the best things I have ever eaten . But wait, maybe it was the carrot cake? Or the pasta? Everything dish was amazing .

Wonderful poached eggs on buttered, grainy wheat toast with perfectly cooked potatoes and the absolute best homemade scrapple, along with large mugs of imported coffee and a warm, sugar-coated donut with caramel sauce. All devoured while overlooking the peaceful Delaware River. Friendly service. No rushing. A foodies delight. Can't wait to try dinner!

Definitely a restaurant for foodies! Limited menu, farm to table fare. Location on the Delaware River, so request a Window seat when making reservations. Price are higher than expected for a "neighborhood, BYOB restaurant", but food was good so no complaints on our part. But with higher prices (entree $24 and up), and everything a la carte (including the delicious bread & butter), it's not a place where most would just run out to for a weeknight dinner. One complaint: Waitresses should emphasize that bread is not complementary when asking diners if they want b&b on the table! The bread & butter plate ( 4 slices of thick cut yummy multi grain bread & whipped honey butter) is $5.00 for plate. Unknowingly we ordered a second plate (took home extra pieces) and were surprised to see a $10.00 bread charge on our bill. I'd suggest that they give the first plate "free of charge" and then add on cost for additional plates!

Our service was good at the start; however when we finished dinner and were contemplating dessert and coffee we sat for a while, reconsidering our order, and finally flagged another waitress to ask her to send ours to the table. Excusable if the restaurant was busy, but it was a relatively quiet night, and at that point only a handful of tables remained!!

I hadn't been to Charcoal in a long time and thought it would be a nice change for an out-of-town friend's visit. I was surprised at how limited the menu was. The starters were mostly over $9, Charcoal Bread was $5. Although there were plenty of pasta offerings, there were only 4 entrees: two fish dishes, a fried chicken and a steak at $30+. I think there were 3 desserts on offer. While the quality of the food was excellent, the portion of swordfish was small for a $28 offering and the albeit excellent pickled cabbage a tiny portion.

Their homemade bread is absolutely the best, crunchy crust and soft inside. I had the grilled swordfish with summer vegetable chow-chow, green peppercorn caramel sauce. It was delicious, great blend of flavors. For dessert we shared the Brioche Doughnut, it doesn't disappoint.

Good food with interesting choices. A Saturday night and crowded with several large parties so service was a bit slow. Noise level was beyond energetic - so loud it was painful at times. Would recommend going at a less busy time.
