Charbonos - Avon Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went rather last minute for Valentines' Day, and actually had probably one of the best experiences we've ever had at Charbono's. Reservations were on schedule, the service was prompt and friendly, the food came out quickly and was of excellent quality. We have a wonderful evening!
My third visit was the worst. Expected better on Valentine Day. Seated at an uncomfortable table with fold down edges that numbed our legs. very wobbly chairs. Felt like they would collapse. Ordered simple lettuce and tomatoes salad and it threw them for a loop. Then ordered a 8oz. Filet med well. It came out bleeding . So they took it and my plate. Left me with a baked potato on a saucer . Finally got my steak on a saucer also. The staff was very good! 2good visits and one TERRIBLE!
Valentines Day, they put out extra tables for this day as it gets busy the one we were seated at was wobbly. My husband had to put napkins under it to make it sturdy. He ordered the spaghetti, way too done, kinda mushy, no salt or pepper at our table, we had to ask and it took a while to bring almost done by the time we got it. We did have a reservation as well. We were put by the door so we felt a draft every time the door opened which was often. When we paid our bill, waitress asked for VIP card I didn’t have it, she asked to look it up said she could’t find it and it’s only under my name, but she was like oh well, maybe next time. Also, my husband went to bathroom said it was worse than a truck stop, bathroom disgusting needed cleaned, hope the manager gets this place straightened out!
Steak was under cooked, mashed potatoes were hard and flavorless. For 91$ On steaks I was disappointed, I’d rather go to longhorn or Texas road house. At least I’ll get more bang and flavor for my buck. Very disappointed in the food, service was good though.
I ordered the salad/filet mignon/carrot cake option off of the Devour Indy menu on a recent date night with my wife. I was very disappointed with the steak. While it was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the outside had heavy horrible tasting charred grill marks that tasted a little fishy. I have never before failed to finish a 6 oz. steak but I just couldn't get over the awful taste of the grill marks. I was also surprised that there wasn't any kind of sauce for the naked mashed potatoes. The carrot cake was delicious but accompanied by inedible cinnamon-covered carrot slivers that had the consistency of bark. (The waitress said they were fried carrot pieces. I think they were originally the leftover peelings.) My wife enjoyed her entrée (horseradish salmon) and we both enjoyed the atmosphere and service. My wife and I have dined at both Charbonos and Boulder Creek 2-3 times and this was our first disappointment.
Server was totally AWOL which wound up being ok because we caught up with friends but literally could not find the guy. Food was good particularly the ahi appetizer and the cocktail. Good place to eat in Avon, not as good as other Cunningham spots downtown. But with a lack of high end restaurants in the area is the best in the neighborhood.
Have had the prime rib in the past when they had it on special and it was very good. Was not told it was a special tonight so a little disappointed, but found something else on the menu instead. At the end of our meal I heard a different server at the table next to us go over the specials and told them that prime rib was one of the specials that night. Not too happy to find out what I wanted was available, but it appears our server did not know that.
The food was very good and all was fine until we ordered dessert. Right after we ordered dessert Jeff brought our guest checks to us and they were all wrong. He finally got this all straightened out but did have to wait some time for the dessert. When we go back I would not ask for Jeff. He needs more training
It was New Year’s Eve and it took a long time to get our entrees. Our server was apologetic as was the manager and we weren’t in a rush so we didn’t really care. I had a steak w risotto. Steak was undercooked but that’s better than over cooked. The risotto was just warm and sticky instead of creamy. I chose not to send it back as they were obviously busy. The last time I had a meal there, it too wasn’t up to par. Not sure what’s going on but they need to step it up a bit. Also if the manager is going to come by apologizing for how long the meal is taking, offer something. Percent off, dessert, Something.
Our first visit to this local neighborhood. Our server, Dillon, recommended the specials for New Years Eve. We order them both. The aged beef was amazing in flavor and texture the Black and Blue Mahi was a portion size and very flavorful. The service was great and atmosphere was perfect. We look forward to returning!
I had made my reservation over a month ahead, do we could have our favorite server, but when we got there, they had to use her in the bar. I told them if they would have called me to let me know, I would have canceled my reservation. No heads up on the change. They did give us a appetizer for free, but was not happy with the server we got. She was not very friendly, and we were not very happy. Will be a while, before I go back there to eat!!! We have been going every month yo eat there, but not now!!!
Every year our family looks forward to the traditional Christmas Eve dinner at Charbonos. However, this year was a disappointment. It was like they weren't prepared. They didn't offer prime rib, which is a staple for Christmas Eve. The bar didn't have or was out of ginger beer for a Moscow Mule. We were able to grab the last bottle of A1 and that only had enough in it for 1 person. And the chicken alfredo was very bland and doughy. I believe our waitress was the only person waiting on tables in the bar area. We never saw anyone else. Although she did a good job, she was running ragged. Hope next year is better!
