Finally, a New York style atmosphere and experience crosses the Hudson to Central Jersey. Char Steakhouse's innovative cuisine features only the finest cuts of Dry Aged and Prime Beef with fish delivered fresh daily. Guests will dine by landscaped views revealed by towering windows. Mahogany wood walls and ceiling treatments create an authentic steakhouse environment rivaled by none in the New Jersey dining scene. Unique features include four modern fireplaces that are the first of their kind, a curved wall of water that rains serenity in the aptly named Rain Room. Guests can enjoy 7 cuts of the finest quality dry aged beef or snack on oysters and colossal blue crab from our premier raw bar. Seating in the lounge is offered on a first come first serve basis or party goers can reserve arched custom booths for up to twelve.     Was down to see a show at Count Basie and told waiter we had a time crunch. Explained they had issue with computers so we cancelled our apps but they came anyway, 50 minutes after we sat down. Main came 15-20 minutes later giving us less than 10 minutes to eat. Needless to say we ate about 1/2 our meal. We did get comped for apps but didn’t make up for the experience.

    Everything was excellent. For the appetizers we ordered the lobster dumplings, miso scallops, steak tartare and bacon slab. Everything was delicious but I especially loved the scallops that was my favorite bite. For dinner we had the broiled lobster, cowboys ribeye with truffle butter, filet mignon, the special prime rib, and the gnocchi. For sides we did the death by potatoes, cream corn, Brussels, and grilled asparagus and a host of drinks. Literally every bite was good. All 7 guests were beyond pleased, highly recommend.

    Showed up early and the restaurant still was able to seat us immediately. I requested an accommodation to sit in a certain area of the restaurant and they made the accommodation. Nothing short of great food and great service. Highly recommend.

    It’s a subdued atmosphere though there is a large flat screen tv. Our server (Adrian? Sorry, I’m awful with names) he was personable and professional. The food delicious through and through. We enjoyed “meat and potatoes” and scallops as starters, strip steak (cooked to perfection), creamed corn and kung pao Brussels sprouts. All were top notch. For dessert we shared the cookie jar, delicious ice cream with cookies, raspberry, caramel and peanut butter swirls. It’s ideal for two. We’ve been to Char before and we’ll be back again.
