The wait staff was fantastic. Attentive as needed but not hovering annoyingly. Dietary restrictions and allergies were accommodated without hesitation and suggestions were offered without any discontent.

The food was cooked too order and was extremely flavorful and excellently prepared. Portion sizes were filling but not over abundant where you felt compelled to goes yourself.

My only complaint is they do not serve prime rib. That being said the filet mignon was stellar.

Overall we were underwhelmed by the food. Our appetizer was very good , but the steaks were nothing special for the prices charged. My first cut in my medium rare steak clearly was cooked medium, especially compared to my wife’s. I sent it back and it came back cut more in the middle to show it was cooked slightly better, but still over cooked in my opinion. Not to argue I ate it, but found it off putting that I sent back a dish and essentially was told it was a bigger cut so the outside may slightly be more done. For a top of the line steakhouse, that is a crock and the chef and the manager should have more pride in a steak they are charging 55 dollars for. Wouldn’t go back knowing for similar price I can get a better steak

Only minor issues was the dining rooms are on the darker side a little bit more light and not so close together to each other table wise would make a great difference would make it a little bit more Cozier

This was the second time we've eaten at Char and this time was miles better than the first time. The food was really good (had the Surf and Turf) and a great bottle of wine topped off by Maple Bread Pudding for a dessert. Our table was in a much better location (last time near the bar) and it had moderate noise level so we could hear ourselves converse with one another. We will definitely come back, hopefully next time when we can experience outdoor seating which looks very cozy.

The place was pretty packed for a Monday evening, this is a good sign, I was seated in a booth, comfortable near the bar. I had a cocktail with porto and whiskey, a delicious creation, the ice in it was not cube but ball, details count for this restaurant...
They make their bread themselves and it is excellent: ciabata, prinzel sort of and remarkable pop up.
The main attraction for me was the 55 days dry aged beef on bone i had, it was cooked to perfection - medium rare to melt the aged fat enough - and the flavor were enhanced by the process. Real bearnaise was obviously made by the chef according to french recipe, it was delicious. The side dishes, mac and cheese and cream spinach were generous but unremarkable. The mousse au chocolat cake was devine and could easily serve 4 persons.
My waiter Gregory was outstanding and made this evening truly remarquable by being just present enough to be efficient and none intrusive .
