Chapter One is an award-winning Modern European restaurant with 3 AA Rosettes in Orpington, Kent. Following a major refurbishment in early 2019, Chapter One has relaunched with a more modern approach, tempting guests with greater variety and quality.

Under the direction of acclaimed chef Andrew McLeish, modern European cooking is available in two formats. In the Restaurant, sophisticated seasonal dishes are served in a refined setting with a weekly changing 3-course Lunch Menu du Jour, a seasonally-inspired 7-course Tasting Menu and an a la carte option. In the more informal Brasserie, a selection of favourites are cooked to perfection with the finest ingredients. The drinks offering is as exciting with an AA Notable Wine List, premium spirits, and cocktails. There is also a private dining room for corporate and private occasions.

A most enjoyable experience. It was a joint birthday lunch for two very dear members of the family. We were seeking a venue with a quiet and relaxing environment; Chapter One fulfilled these requirements admirably. The Team was most attentive throughout the meal. The menu was not extensive but more than adequate; each food dish placed in front of us was delicately arranged and delicious. We'll take away good memories of a great family celebration at Chapter One. Tony

We had an excellent meal and the staff were exceptional. Our friend had a problem with his car and had to call out the AA. The staff arranged fir the meal to be delayed until the problem was sorted.

We were celebrating my mother's 90th birthday and were made to feel very welcome and unrushed as we had a drink before eating. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable without being intrusive and catered for my dietary issue of being gluten free without any problems.

My family abd I have visited this restaurant a number of times over the years for Christmas eve's, big birthday's and any other excuse! The service is exceptional and the food is consistently lovely (highly recommend the mushroom risotto). Thank you for making my mum's 87th birthday lunch special.

Another lovely meal, starters and desserts outstanding, staff really excellent. Sommelier on particular was very helpful. My only feedback stopping a 5* rating is that the main food felt sliggtly over-salted, particularly the ribeye steaks and some of the veg sides. It's a minor quibble for an otherwise wonderful experience. This is a terrific place and highly recommended.

We have been coming to Chapter One since the day it opened, initially it was only a restaurant so we would come for special occasions, as well as a Easter and Christmas but since the Brasserie opened we come more often as we don’t always want a three course meal. It never disappoints. I love the tuna tacos to start followed by the baby chicken cooked on the grill. The range of wines is fantastic.
