A lovely date night and even dog friendly. Nice cocktail that was large! (I got The Cure). The fried chicken was awesome - wish they served it with more sauce. we got two bowls of ramen. Both were quite good. The Soyou was nice but wish it was more flavorful or had more salt. The Tan Man was quite good too.
Nice outdoor seating and each table has its own heater.
Wontons were decent. Service not the best. Good outdoor ambiance.
Overall good experience
I like the food at Chaplin but did not enjoy myself this time: I came there on a date and they sat us by an open door on a cold night. When we asked the waiter if he could kindly close the door he said “No”, and when we asked for an explanation he said “just because”. That left a bad taste in my mouth, particularly in these times when we are trying to support restaurants by dining in.
Great ambiance and service
Amazing server! Gave us great recommendations so the food was amazing, and above and beyond customer service. Seated right away even though we showed up an hour and a half before our reservation so the hostess was very accommodating on a busy night which is impressive. Overall 10/10
Great atmosphere, the food was incredible!
Interesting cocktails, great food and fun staff. Can fully recommend this place for dinner.
Best ramen I’ve had in DC this far
Great food..music is a touch too loud making it hard to socialize.
Good food!! Heaters!!
If you like ramen you’ll love it here. Cocktail named “The Cure” is deadly good
Good meal, good service
The food is chaplains was so delicious. I enjoyed my time and I took my roommate who Was trying Ramen for the first time in DC. I had an experience at a Ramen place the other day and I did not like it. I knew I had to be remedied so of course I want to chaplains to get the taste that I was looking for, in which I did. The service was OK, I have had better service, but given the pandemic I guess I would say most waiters have to stay away from their tables a bit more than usual just because of what’s going on. Other than that, it was fantastic.
My only recommendation is blinds. We sat at the window near the front and the sun was painful. Felt myself becoming overheated.
Great cocktails and some creative twists on ramen. Great outdoor space in on a cozy corner.
One of my absolute favorites. The service staff let us put 2 tables across from each other to stick with covid protocols, but we were still able to feel like we were all together. Food is great. Drinks are great. The server even gave us complimentary shots because it was my birthday. 10/10
Made a reservation in the morning. Got sat quickly for an evening dinner. All dishes were served hot, quick and flavorful.
I enjoyed coming here when the place just opened (5-6 years ago?) but now it went downhill. Food, ramen particularly, is delicious, that’s why we do take out quite often but dining in experience has been bad again and again. Last time we came to enjoying the nice weather on the patio on Friday evening. When I came to check in our reservation , very unpleasant man that acted and looked more like a manager, definitely not like a welcoming host, just threw in my face that our table is not ready yet and that’s it. 20 min after our reservation time i came again to check on our table and this man once again acted very rude and said “your table already paid, I can’t kick them out”. I asked how long does he think it will take, because we came with the baby and we couldn’t just hang out near restaurant entrance forever, he said “it will happen eventually”. Is it my problem that they didn’t time our table or didn’t set the expectation for the dining in group sitting at our table? I don’t think so.
Our server Merybath was quite unfriendly too. She was very mild and in her own thoughts, kept forgetting stuff. Also, does wearing a mask mean server doesn’t have to smile? Guests could still feel a vibe, right. She was also wearing black sports hoodie... Waitress attire always speaks for the level of the restaurant.
Bathroom was pretty sad lookin with cracked sink , no paper towel machine, old door handle. Place clearly needs some renovation, nothing has changed since the opening several years ago.
I would love to support local business but this business doesn’t want to support its own customer and service quality level.
Always great food and great service!!! Love the appetizers and ramen alike!
The best pork buns I’ve ever had, and the fried wontons were great as well.
Terrible service but the food it’s so good that is one of my favorite restaurants. I almost always order to go .
The best food and best staff in DC! Always delicious and fun !
Awesome food and service! Highly recommend especially on the weekends!
Ramen and cocktails are always exceptional here. Weirdly they wouldn't give us tap water. The waiter said it was because of the pandemic but I've never heard that from any other restaurant. Service was very slow but courteous. Outdoor seating was spread out and comfortable.
Delicious food. Felt comfortable with their outdoor dining.
One of my favorite spots for quality time with loved ones
I would argue that this is the best Ramen in the city. I know there are many other great locations but Chaplin is my favorite!
Felt like we were being rushed out from the second we arrived.
Great eve at Chaplin’s - home to some of the best ramen in DC. The ramen was amazeballs, as usual, as was the tori karaage chicken. Strong drinks, a great server, and the best heaters I’ve experienced so far in DC made it a stellar eve.
Always banging and delicious.
We were seated outside but there was a black tent and black fabric enclosure so it felt really dark. Food was served in plastic containers which is not at all environmentally friendly. If you want to eat from here I would recommend just ordering a take-out and eating at home.
Friend wanted to try pho and I had been a few times so thought it would be best location.
We had to wait almost 20 minutes for our table. The service was extremely slow, we did not get any water despite asking for it three times. The Ramen was served in a throw away plastic bowl like it was take out food. The restaurant was extremely cold because the served and guests never closed the door to the patio.
The food was bland, served in take out containers, and they charged us $1 for water
Great place, great experience, great service and great menu
Chaplin’s never disappoints! The service was incredible, the food was delicious and the ambiance was a vibe. We ordered ribs, gyozas, chicken and shrimp shumai, various ramen dishes, the Japanese friend chicken and every dish was so tasty. I’ll be back! Thanks for making our Valentine’s Day dinner amazing.
