Chapel Grille Ratings and Reviews
The place is very beautiful with a nice exterior and interior. We came for dinner on a Friday night and had to wait for a table even after having made a reservation. After we were seated we were handed the restaurant week menu. It decent appetizers, good entree options, and okay dessert options. The wine pairing gives you 4 oz glasses instead of 6 oz glasses (typical). Portions were okay, smaller than what you’d get if you ordered “a la carte” but still enough to fill you up. I wasn’t impressed with the Caesar salad but the salmon was tasty. I had a similar meal at Siena in Providence the weekend before and received much larger portions. Food was also better.
The experience wasn’t amazing. I was there for my birthday and didn’t really receive extra treatment - the waiter took my wine glass away before I was finished and when I brought up the issue he gave me back the exact same glass back (you’d think he’d give me a new glass with more wine for his mistake). He did end up giving my boyfriend a free capacchino but how is that making it up to me? Also, they brought out a special little birthday biscotti with whipped cream, which was nice, but I had already ordered the biscotti for my dessert so you’d think they give something different (again, the special factor wasn’t there). There were very busy and we did do restaurant week so I guess you get what you pay for 😕
We go to Chapel Grille often and always have been satisfied with the food. On a wintery night it is great to get a seat near the fireplace and in the summer it is wonderful to sit in the sunroom or outside. The service is very good and the food is well prepared. The Salmon is one of my favorites and you can never go wrong with their Risotto dishes. Garden City is a delightful place for shopping and dining and Chapel Grille will not disappoint.
Decided to try the restaurant as part of the Providence Restaurant week promotion and weren't disappointed. Good selection in the promotional menu as well as a willingness to prepare GF versions. Regular GF menu available as well but confusing to decipher. Our waiter, Patrick, was a delight. Restaurant decor a bit over the top but maintained coziness
Restaurant week for lunch at Chapel Grille was a delight. Our party of four tried several of the dishes and were very happy. The butternut squash bisque was a huge hit as was the brownie sundae. Each of us enjoyed the sandwich entrees, Italian Dip and the Herb-Grilled Lemon Chicken Wrap and our other friend devoured the cheese tortellini with pancetta, peas, and alfredo sauce. Our waiter, Michael, as always, was excellent despite how busy the restaurant was!
My friend and I attended for restaurant week and had a lovely time. The wine pairing was spot on with the courses-the chicken escarole was delicious with a slice of their bread. I then had the beef tenderloin tips with an amazing sauce and my friend had a generous portion of salmon with wonderful tasting lentils-wonderful meal!
We went for Sunday Brunch our reservation was 12:45 the brunch buffet food what was left was delicious. But the key was what was left. Did not replenish food so half the things they advertised were all gone. And never republished. But we paid full price. Waite staff is excellent. Even when a piece of prime rib came out raw. Not rate but raw they quickly tried to fix the issue without even being asked. So our experience was definitely not a good one there
We came in for dinner on New Years day, upon arrival there were only a few other tables in the dining room we were seated in yet, our table didn't seem to be ready ( high chair was requested in reservation not at the table and the floor around the table was dirty) I was also surprised at how slow the service was, we waited several minutes for drinks and a bottle of wine and an almost ridiculously long time for dessert menus and after dinner drinks. The Food was outstanding (short ribs, roasted chicken with fried artichokes etc.) However, I do expect a much higher level of service and ambiance when spending $230 for three adults and a toddler before tip.
Brunch Buffet - Family opinion: Meh. Overcooked, reheated waffles. Dry chicken piccata. Omlette/Pasta station cooks using their hands instead of utensils, cross contaminating all the ingredients (basic allergy training!). Bacon tasted chemical. Inattentive and forgetful service. Beautiful building though.
The food at the New Year's Day Brunch was very good with the exception of the desserts. We tried several and they were either too well done or rather dry. It was a very frigid day and the booth we were seated at was extremely cold, but the kindness of the brunch manager was greatly appreciated when he brought a small portable heater. All in all, this restaurant is beautiful and the waitstaff is always caring and attentive.
My boyfriend, sister and I went to the Chapel Grille for the first time on New Years Eve. As the reviews described, the restaurant was beautiful. We had a reservation and only had to wait a few minutes before being seated. They had a fixed menu that evening but everything we ordered (appetizers, meals, dessert and coffee) was outstanding. My sister and I had limoncello martinis and they were delicious. Our server Chanel was very attentive being as it was New Years Eve and we really enjoyed her. The only negative was it was extremely cold that evening and we were seated in a booth next to the window which was a little cold and every time the door opened you felt it. I would definitely return as we had a very enjoyable evening.
I’ve dined at Chapel Grille several times for lunch and dinner. I was very disappointed how the tables for 2 were set up on New Year’s Eve. The tables were side by side vs back to back - no privacy. My reservation was made well in advance and expected better accommodations. The food and the service were great but I doubt I will visit the Grille on a holiday again.
Loved our lunch at Chapel Grille! It was the first time there, a friend had given us a gift certificate to the restaurant as a Christmas present. We wanted to go while it was still decorated for the holidays. We sat out in the Skyview Terrace which was lovely. The food was excellent as was the service ! We totally enjoyed the experience and will certainly go back in the future.
Food was very good as usual. The servers are typically well informed and provide assistance for your dining experience. On this occasion our server was a young woman named AJ. This woman was extremely good at her job. Would see if her area was available next time we make a reservation.
We had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, but since it was Christmas Eve I figured some patience was in order. However, I made our Christmas Eve reservation back in August (which I thought was early enough) so I was surprised that we were seated in the somewhat dingy downstairs area that's used for special events . I guess I should have specified that I wanted to be in the beautiful upstairs chapel area, but since I didn't know about the downstairs I didn't realize I needed to specify which dining room. On top of that, they first seated us at a table that was almost in the doorway and badly lit. Luckily, there was an empty table next to us that we asked to be moved to and they accommodated us. I'm not sure why we weren't seated there in the first place since we were told that it was for a group who were over an hour late for their reservation (and never showed up).
Once seated, things went a little better but clearly our waiter was struggling (despite his best efforts) to serve several large tables. He did have some help, but they also seemed stretched to the limit. It took a long time to get drinks, food, and any and everything we asked for (bread, butter, extra plates, etc.). I will say the food tasted pretty good, although not quite on level with the prices. Overall, I'm not sure I would go back anytime soon and definitely not on a holiday!
We had a great Christmas Eve. Our waiter was great, food great, even though it was a special menu. We will definitely go again on a holiday. One small thing we requested a table by the fire, we were seated down stairs. Not sure why when I request this, every time I call for a reservation they tell me it is not available. Maybe they save it for special clientele. It would have been nice especially since I called a month in advance.
