Chapel Grille Ratings and Reviews
Food was very good. Whole experience was good. Only thing that was lacking was the service. Our waiter came over and said he’d be right back, we waited probably ten minutes and he just asked if we knew what we wanted. Didn’t go over the specials which we saw others doing. He brought us bread but no butter. Again, nothing crazy, just little things. Overall really good experience
As always Chapel View never disappoints me at all , the service is excellent ,the wait staff are the best at what they do . The management staff has a good grip on things . The food is always to die for esp the oysters are delicious .... wouldn’t hesitate to refer anyone here .....
I enjoy going here for special occasions. It's nearby and the atmosphere is classy. The wait staff is very attentive and the food tastes good. I'm very sensitive to MSG but I don't have any reaction to the food here. It isn't cheap but not outrageous either and there is a fairly good selection.
Went there for dinner on Valentines Day. It was an early dinner at 5:45 and there was no wait. Unfortunately my wife and I waited for an hour and 10 minutes to get our dinner. Couples which were sat after us received their food before us. What a joke, we had tickets to see a movie which was missed due to waiting so long for our food. Never again Chapel Grill! You ruined our night!
We’ve been there several times before when it’s been busy and the service is always good. Except for this night. It was incredibly slow for no apparent reason. The arancini appetizer was excellent but the entree’s were sub par. We were there nearly two hours and didn’t bother with dessert.
The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. I took my wife there for her first time for Valentines Day. I've gone here previously for business meals. Our server, Jacqueline, was extremely pleasant. However, it appears that the restaurant over-extended themselves for V-day to make as much $$$ as they could. For the price of the appetizer, two dinners and a $32 bottle of wine, it was $132-, which included no desert or coffee. The meals were average at best. There are many restaurants in RI that provide more value and are just as nice. The appearance of both of our meals were unimaginative, almost just thrown together. You would expect more from a simple plate of pasta with vodka sauce and 5 scallops. Even dressing it up with something green would have been nice. I left a poor review on their Facebook page and the ownership apologized to me and another disgruntled customer, which was a nice gesture. Regardless, I won't be returning there for dinner. I may return for a cocktail at their bar which is very nice. But, that's about it. We are not "foodies" and are usually easy to impress. Unfortunately our experience was unimpressive.
We were seated at 5:30 for Valentines . We expect some slowness in service based on it was Valentines evening. The waiter was outstanding and drinks and appetizers were served in a timely fashion. Our meal was delayed for 45 minutes and one dinner was wrong. The correct entrée was sent out in about 5 minutes latter. Without complaining the General Manger approached us and inquired on our service. After explaining our experience he immediately set out to make things right. Without going into detail we walked out of the restaurant full on a excellent meal and completely satisfied on actions of the General Manager.
The waiter and accompany servers were excellent.
We were there for Valentine’s day so the service was understandably slow it it was worth the wait. My beet salad was just yummy and my husband enjoyed his Caeser. However, we waited over an hour for our main courses. I think there might have been a mixup in the kitchen. When we started eating, though, we just loved the lobster agnolotti. It was delicious. We were seated downstairs, which was filled with just tables for two, so that was lovely. I can’t wait to return on a less busy day.
Finally got to Chapel Grille's famous brunch for Galentine's... we got there first thing and the food was tasty and hot. A LOT of selections. I would have had to do a LOT more eating to have $30 worth of food, which is why I'm not sure the value was there. We also took advantage of the "bottomless" drink specials. The Bloody Mary's were spicy like we asked and tasted great, and I could have stayed for a few more. They were a little on the weak side, but that's to be expected with any unlimited drink option, but hey, for $10, THAT was a great deal. I'd definitely like to go again, maybe with a little more time to graze and drink.
This place is getting less and less stars every time i visit. I asked for a booth and was rudely sat at a mini. I learned this place has 4 types of seating. #1 The Mini is the smallest table for 2 on the planet. I thought they were joking. 4 of those tables in one section super close to each other. Can't have a private conversation. Have to stand sideways to get to your seat. #2 The standard seat. #3 The standard booth #4 super large awesome booth... after sitting at the mini, i may not go back to this place. The filet was overcooked and dry. I do like their chicken masala.
Mini seats should be half price.
It was very busy when we arrived for my sons birthday. The waiter felt the service was slow because the kitchen was behind. He gave not only my son a birthday dessert but the parents too. We weren’t upset or complaining about anything. What a nice gesture & memory we have of that night.
I have eaten here on many occasions and never had such a bad experience. We arrived on time for our 7:15 reservation and were seated promptly. We sat in the "conservatory." It appeared that there were two waiters for the room. We waited about 20 minutes for our cocktails and to hear the specials. It was about 15-20 minutes later that the waiter returned to take our dinner order. We were not served util 9:00 and the meals were mediocre. It was obvious, looking around the dining room, that many others were dissatisfied with the service, as well.
I took my wife on a date with the intention of a romantic night out. When we arrived, they sat us in a corner that was a high traffic area and felt very claustrophobic. My first glass of wine received had a dirty wine glass with chunks of dried food on the rim. I asked the waiter for a new glass, he apologized and brought me a new one. I had a prime rib for dinner, it was cooked well, tasted good - I would rate it a 6.5/10. For dessert, we had the pumpkin creme brulee, overall it tasted good, but the plating was bizarre to me. It looked like somebody plopped a can of cat food on the dish. Service was great, but overall was not impressed.
The Chapel Grille is one of my husband and also my favorite resturants. We have been several times and the food and service in a beautiful setting is always very good. It is a higher end resturant and the prices do reflect that. However, I am disappointed with their menu.
As it seems, the menu has been streamlined. Some of my favorite items have been dropped, such as their Cleopatra salad, and paella. There isn't much of a selection, but our food was very good.
Some of the food was very dissapointing. 2 of us ordered the jumbo grilled shrimp ala carte and a side the shrimp were quite small 1 order cam out cold when it was reheated was rubbery and tasteless. Another ordered the salmon cold reheated overcooked and dry. Our waitress was great and they did offer us dessert on the house fo the 2 cold entres. I would not return except for lunch. The food is way overpriced for the quality.
Tod Igor we celebrated my mother’s 70th birthday and the team at Chapel grille made everyone comfortable and really went out their way to take good care of us. Food was outstanding. We got a variety of dishes including steak pasta and seafood and everyone raved at the taste and how well it was prepared. Our waiter was so friendly and really handled all our little quirky requests so graciously. Thanks for maki g the nights success. Can’t wait to go back.
