The owner was so wonderful and gracious. It personalized and already fantastic experience.
There’s a new waiter who is absolutely abysmal. He’s been our waiter the last 2 times I’ve been and it’s just been a huge downer. He’s robotic and mumbles, it’s like pulling teeth talking to him. I love this place, the charm and the food but I’m almost tempted not to go back if it means having to be served by this guy.
The food was amazing, I really had a great time and again the food was AMAZING!
Hard pass. Dishes were mediocre at best. Plenty of better french restaurants in SF for the same price.
A wonderful evening. The hosts really lovely and made us feel so welcome welcome
The best restaurant ever. There is so much heart in this restaurant. The food is exquisite- flavors and combinations that burst in your mouth that you know you could never get at home, trying, or anywhere else for that matter. The hospitality is warm and genuine and you feel as if you’ve gone to your favorite aunt & uncle’s for dinner, an evening full of good food and warm conviviality.
Impeccable as always :) The prix fixe is just the amount of thoughtfully-prepared food for you to feel quite full. The oysters were delicious as well.
We’ve been coming here for the past 14 years to celebrate special occasions and Chef Philippe and his staff never disappoints!
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here last night. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal and that was the best part of mine.
There’s nothing to say cause you can’t stop eating he amazing food!!!
The food was delicious and the staff were really friendly.
We were welcomed in a good manner. They took the drink order much later than expected. On the other hand the food order was taken quickly, unfortunately they were served pretty late. The server was nice and polite.
The descriptions of foods need extensive revision; they are not really sufficient in selection which I ended up with a dish that was lower than my expectation. If I knew the content of this food, I would not order it but that food would be a good selection to someone else. I remember getting the same dish at a dinner in Bahama's Hilton, I did not like it there either. If it were described better, most probably I would not order it.
The appetizer, trio salmon was excellent and the desert was just OK.
The taxi drivers do not know the name of this restaurant though it seems an old settling.
The value vs cost was not worth. However, i would like to give it one more chance and go there to breath their nice ambience.
Chapeau did not disappoint! Birthday dinner for my partner was superb.
Dinner and a theater experience. We haven't done this in over 2 years.
The food was sublime. I’m looking forward to going back.
I’m very particular and hard to please and Chapeau was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in ages.
Lovely little secret in SF
Food was excellent. The portion was surprisingly big. Every course was delicious. Great staff too
Love ! Love ! Fabulous food. Always consistent, always great❤️👍😘
Chapeau is consistently wonderful! It's our go-to neighborhood French restaurant. We had the oysters, french onion soup, corn soup, filet mignon and profiteroles. All were very tasty and delicious. Can't wait to return!
Special guest, a relative in from out of town, and everything was exactly as hoped for.
This was our first time here and we LOVED the whole experience! Everyone is so friendly, the food was beyond amazing, great cocktails...a wonderful meal and experience!!!
Chapeau was such a wonderful restaurant several years ago but the quality has diminished substantially. Over priced and mediocre food limited menu items that are not quality. Very salty soup and way undercooked steak and premade tasting vegetables it’s a shame that the restaurant is so poor. We won’t be returning
A great French restaurant in SF is hard to find. This place is fantastic.
Amazing service, ambiance and food.
My wife and I both had the price fixed menu. Escargot, Bert salad, pork loin, bouillabaisse, French toast and crepe brûlée and a side of potato au gratin.
One of the best meals we’ve had out.
Enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable service, excellent food, and an interesting wine list that the owners were very happy to help navigate.
So awesome!! Delicious food. Quiet, personal experience. The staff is professional and personable. Cannot wait to return!
Food was delish as always, and good wine choices by the glass. My date and I shared our food, and each of us enjoyed both meals. Noise level was moderate, and we were seated at our reservation time with no delay. Table service was fine, however our waiter seemed to be a bad mood, and it showed, as his demeanor was less than friendly or particularly communicative. Perhaps he had a difficult evening with other patrons, but that is not typical for this excellent neighborhood restaurant, as we have been consistent guests over the last 7 years, and we will return.
The Service was amazing! The owner of the restaurant and waitstaff were always walking around and making sure that we had everything that we needed. On top of that, the food had beautiful presentation and flavors that were really vibrant. I can't wait to come back again!
Perfect for a first date! Its romantic, and yes a tad loud but it works out for us since we dont like to whisper our conversations but not scream it either
This is the fifth time we’ve been to this restaurant and it has become one of our favorites in the city. The staff is always really friendly, the head chef regularly chats with customers and it has that caring, family vibe. The food is always really delicious as are the cocktails.
Overall great value and well prepared dinner from start to finish.
I've been going to Chapeau for 20+ years and Phillipe and Ellen have always provided the best hospitality in San Francisco. And the food and wine are great. Last night, I had the Boulliabaisse which had a sublime broth that felt like a mussel bisque. And the mussels served in the dish were perfectly cooked and clearly fresh as fresh can be. Not chewy. Just amazing. The whole dish allowed me to savor the parts on their own or dipped in the bisque. My spouse had the Filet which always delivers happiness. Then we finished it off with an apple tart sliced by some magic thin slicing machine and pear sorbet which wasn't grainy like most pear desserts are. The pear sorbet was smooth and celebrated the subtle flavor of pears clearly avoiding too much added sugar.
We sat outside and were plenty warm and comfortable.
Great work to the both of you for continuing to create such a great spot to forget the world and enjoy yourself.
It’s hard to find a restaurant where every single thing you eat is fantastic—bread, amuse bouche, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We loved everything! Would definitely recommend and come back again. And again.
Great food and service!
Excellent food and service. Will go back. My wife had the pork and i had the seafood. Both were excellent
Amazing food, but it took a long time for someone to ask for our order. Otherwise, a great experience!
Great food, great place, would definitely return, the desserts are to die for
Personnel is so nice, chef is such a fun person, dinner was espectacular and ambiance pretty romantic.
Will come back again!
Chapeau offers decent quality French dinner for a reasonable in comparing to other expensive tiny dishes restaurant. Great service and a nice place have a relaxing dinning experience.
Chapeau! has long been a favorite restaurant. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere energetic but quiet and the wine list and recommendations from it are always an excellent pairing with our food. If you like French food you must dine here.
The service was impeccable and the food was exquisite. We enjoyed the sidewalk seating very much. I can't recommend this fine dining establishment enough!
