Check out our early bird $45 between 5 PM & 6 PM
Service and food were exceptional. It was our first time in San Francisco and enjoyed our evening with the staff.
We had an amazing time in the chapeau with great food experiences and very friendly and fast service. Definitely would go there again.
Very nice restaurant & very attentive service!
This is right up there with the best restaurants in town--and in some cases is better. Food is delicious , well presented and not overdone with too many things going on. Sauces are outstanding, desserts excellent, good wine selection and spirits. Great place for a small celebration or a quiet night for two. You can order a la carte or a three/four course meal. Recommended to me by friends and it lived up to my expectations.
The proprietors at Chapeau are wonderful. I made a special dessert request when I booked the table and they had the dessert ready for me, and it was delicious. They seem genuinely concerned with the satisfaction and well being of their diners. Everyone is friendly, the food and service are excellent, all in a relaxed environment. I think it's easily one of the bet restaurants in San Francisco.
Staff was fantastic, friendly and attentive. Our first time there, but we were made to feel like we had been going there for years. Food was some of the best you will find anywhere in the city!
Chapeau is a great restaurant tucked away in the heart of inner Richmond. It's been a while since I last went, but going back was a treat, and was reminded of how good the food and service is, and the owner still greets you personally, which gives it that extra touch!
Restaurant had good interior and atmosphere. The waiter provided good service.
Everything was fantastic from the moment I arrived. My buddy and I got the 4 course meal and it was very good. We also added a dozen oysters. FYI the waiter said it was a lot of food but my buddy and I were still kinda hungry. We both climb if that’s any indication of our appetite. Anyways, totally recommend this place!!!
It was a perfect anniversary dining experience and the staff made it so special. Highly recommend this place for couples and special dates
Best food and wine for the prices anywhere in San Francisco. And the warmest hospitality you’ll find.
Excellent food, staff and ambience.
The food at Chapeau was wonderful! The early bird special is a good deal and the environment is quite calm and nice. I especially appreciated the great service from our French waiters. They were attentive but not fawning. Great dining experience!
The food is incredible, service was amazing.
The food was delicious. The black cod was fresh and cooked perfectly. The bouillabaisse was outstanding as was the cassoulet. The service was attentive, as usual.
Love this place, we have been going for the past 10 years
Authentic French bistro. Each dish was carefully prepared and nicely presented. The bouillabaisse was exceptional. It was nice to be met at the door by the owner chef. Two complaints: bartender seems to lack experience and was unfamiliar with some standard cocktails. The space is quite small – almost claustrophobic – especially with what seemed to be too many tables crammed together. Made for slightly uncomfortable dining.
Excellent as always. Highly recommend. Consistent quality for 10 years for me
Always wonderful service and outstanding food. Will certainly return regularly.
Pleasant service and a lovely menu. We were fortunate to get a table at what is clearly a very popular restaurant.
Another great meal. Always enjoy having one of the most affordable French meals in the city. It would be hard to find something as good for the price you pay here.
Not close to downtown. Was a little questionable when we walked in as it doesn't look like your typical top rated restaurant in San Fran. Well let me tell you the food speaks for itself along with the wonderful staff. Thanks for a great time, and see you next time!
Love this neighborhood spot. The quality of food and service never disappoint. The chef always comes out and greets the diners which just adds to the level of service and makes you feel like a valued customer. Would highly recommend for any date night - don't skip on dessert.
Philippe and Ellen have done such a wonderful job with the food and the ambience! Great welcoming service and it always feels like a very special occasion when one dines at Chapeau!
Chapeau was absolutely amazing for our anniversary! The staff was so attentive and helpful. They even decorated our table with glitter and gave us a special dessert on the house. The food was delicious! If it’s a special occasion, Chapeau is the place to go.
Love this restaurant I had the Duck Breast for my entree and it was tender, moist, and flavorful
Celebratory dinner. Great service and delicious food! Always a reliable dining venue in the Richmond!
My second time here, I liked it a little less than the first. It was very loud, so I sat at the bar to avoid being jammed between two noisy parties. I may not have ordered right, I chose black cod, and it was perfectly prepared but I didn’t totally love the quinoa and broth. My owner, though, was charming as always!
Chapeau has some of they very best French food that I have experienced throughout the entire San Francisco Bay Area. My party and I were there for a very special birthday occasion and simply could not have been more pleased. From the minute we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the owner and personally shown to our table. The server was there immediately and from there on in things happened as they should have. The customers next to us were helpful with menu suggestions of which we took advantage. I cannot sing any higher praises than I have here.
Great food: Pre fix menu is great for trying a variety of dishes. I love the Escargot and Cassoulet. Not to far from the DeYoung Museum if you have a car. Parking is tricky.
Excellent food and service. A bit crowded and noisy. Overall a wonderful experience.
Food was really delicious. I had a lot of fun. I would absolutely come again.
The food was as delightful as ever. We ordered four different entrees and each was delicious in its own way.
Food was great. There is an abundance of items to choose from-so whether its a la carte or pre-fix-you can try many items on the menu. Escargot was amazing. Duck breast was marvelous-prepared perfectly-not overcooked but cooked just to perfection. Corn soup is very tasty. Deserts are pretty good too.
Excellent food, superior service, what more can anyone ask for?
A real gem in the Richmond district. We ordered 3 course menu. Very reasonable price and excellent French food. Chef owner is so friendly , he came around every table to greet the guest. Will definitely go back soon.
This restaurant is awesome. Everything about it is consistently excellent. Food is always fresh and scrumptious, wines delightful, service impeccable and hospitality warm and friendly. I always feel at home!
Best French restaurant in SF!
We were four adults out for a leisurely evening meal. The food was fantastic, and the service was quick and polite. We had an outstanding evening, and would be overjoyed for an opportunity to go again.
Everything about Cahpeau is perfcet. The food exquisite and the staff and Chef so warm and welcoming. Really one of SF's treasures.
