Great service and food, will visit again
The service was friendly and attentive! They came by to refill our water without asking and were helpful with our questions about the menu.
They have a great Happy Hour menu! The garlic chicken wings and the steamed scallops were delicious!
Nice atmosphere for family dinner, girls night out, date or special occasions.
Free parking available in the underground parking structure. From the elevator, take it to the third floor, where the restaurant is located.
Very slow and inexperienced wait staff. The best items on the menu in my view are the scallops, the chicken soup and the lobster. It is not worth the drive from West LA to San Gabriel.
Always enjoy food! And great services
Excellent as always!!! Never a bad meal here,Great servers!!!
DineLA #2, July 2018 Summer Edition, Lunch Menu $20.
Afterwards, we got down to ordering (highly recommend getting everything we got):
Appetizers: 1) Wei-jiao Tofu (Deep-fried silken tofu cubes). Simplicity at its finest. The small cubes were plentiful, crispy, hot and fresh. Sprinkled with seasoned salt and served with garlic dipping sauce, a delicious appetizer to start with! 2) Garlic Chicken Wings (6pcs): Garnished with chopped garlic, orange and green bell peppers, this too, was also a tasty appetizer! The chicken wings were fried nicely and the meat was tender and juicy. We did find two wings that looked kind of red when we got near the bones, but luckily, the remaining four pieces were cooked thoroughly.
Main Courses: 1) Tenderloin Cubes: A hearty and huge portion! The tenderloin cubes were super soft, which my Mom and I really liked. This dish was a little sweet for my Mom's taste, but perfect for me. Served with sautéed mushrooms, broccoli and an edible bird's nest, not only was presentation on this dish adorable, but tasty as well! 2) Braised Pork Belly: Just like the tenderloin cubes, the braised pork belly was also delicious and super soft too! Best of all, the braised pork belly chunks were huge and cooked with ginger, so that you won't experience that greasy feel aftertaste. The bok choy served along with this dish helped balance out the meat ratio.
Grill (Skewers): 1) Short Rib: The short rib meats were hearty and seasoned nicely. 2) Filet Mignon: Soft, tender and a bit saltier than the short rib meats.
White or Brown Rice (You only get one bowl per person).
Mom got the white rice and I got the brown rice. Both were cooked nicely and generous portions.
Service: On point! The servers here are nice, polite & well-trained. They're very attentive & our drinks were never empty.
Overall, DineLA #2 was a fantastic compromise! This little tiger cub got to continue her DineLA adventures, while the food and pricing pleased her frugal Tiger Mama, lol!
The food was excellent; well-prepared, very good presentation; it came out a bit quickly but we never felt rushed. The service was top notch by any standard; the wait staff was friendly but not intrusive; they were helpful but not demanding. The birthday gathering for 13 people went very smoothly and we were very satisfied.
The lobster and scallop are very fresh and delicious. The waitress is nice and overall experience is good. Will bring friend there next time.
This is not a review.
We reserved on OpenTable, drove (out of the way) to get to the restaurant for our 10:15 pm reservation only to find that the place was closed. It was completely dark, no one inside. As if it had not been open at all that night.
Either the restaurant or OpenTable made a big mistake in listing available times.
Happy Hours daily starts at lunch time. The steam big scallops are the best.
Was difficult to talk because of noisy talk of Chinese people
Chang'an is one of favorite spots for my weekly family/friends gathering. Great food, excellent service, and upscale ambience.
The food and service was not bad but seems like they were short handed on that night.
The food and service was excellent. The challenge was the vague menu. I enjoyed it, but my party was a little apprehensive to order.
A very busy restaurant. Service is good. But when we consult the amount of food, whether it is good for two ppl. the server didn’t really give an useful idea. Since it turns out we ordered way more than what we should. Also they short for giving one dish and didn’t help to cancel on the check. But the food tastes is pretty good except too greasy but maybe that’s normal for eating outside. We ordered two beef dishes, one beef tongue and a steak. Both are good!
Main dishes were served 5 minutes before the appetizers started arriving. Rice to go with the main dishes was not served until almost 15 minutes later along with the final appetizers, and I had to request for them to bring it. The water is undrinkable - had a horrible taste to it, like it had some kind of cleaner in it. Dishes were “pretty”, but the shredded chicken was drowning in chili oil and garlic - (less is more!). Took advantage of the Dine LA lunch for 3 people and added several items. $110 bill for lunch with a mandatory 12% “service charge” (read: tip!) - could have had delicious and satisfying lobster meal at Newport Seafood for this price. (With untainted drinking water!) Left hungry, thirsty, and with a super garlic mouth.
The food was extremely healthy, fresh and delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive.
We will definitely go back
Service from Tracy was excellent. Quality of the food was great and the presentation was lovely. I would recommend that people take the time to grab a bite here.
It was a good lunch. The happy hour price is great. They had a pretty fancy layout of the food. Liked it.
Menu was confusing and we were advised to order the prix fix even though we didn't want some of the courses. We didn't. One of our dishes wasn't ordered by server and never came. We had enough food without it. The food was all tasty and the room is very attractive but it was like the restaurant didn't quite know how to be what it wanted to be.
Service was bad and they automatically charge you 15% service charge on the bill.
Delicious Chinese food without all the MSG and grease. Always excellent service as well. Highly highly recommended!
Different variety of food. We ordered the cold noodles which it was excellent and the steamed scallops was very tasty.
Food took too long, later noticed one was 86 the other was undercooked when brought to the table, when asking to bring the check the 86ed food was still charged, did not give happy hour price when the wait staff told us she would.
Although the dishes (including desserts) are presented very well, the favors are ordinary and bland. The only worthwhile dish is braised beef short rib. The service is attentive, but I do not go to a restaurant for service. Overall, it is not worth the money.
great food. modern chinese food. we came here at Dine LA. The dinner menu is very good. a lot of very tasty food for a group of 4. we can pick 8 appetizers. 4 barbecue. 4 main course
Food is well crafted. Love the new year dessert.
Skip the foie gras... not worth it at $32 for 2 oz.
Went on Christmas Day. Service was attentive. Food was quite refined. They also custom made a fish filet dish for us because my mom prefers no bones in fishes.
Quite impressed with this restaurant.
We had Wangue beef, Foie Gras, skewers, and many other fusion dishes.
Great food especially scallops
Food was mediocre at best
Outstanding ambiance, excellent food, expansive and diverse list of menu items, fine service.
Unique ambiance hidden in the 3rd of where San Gabriel Hilton on Valley Blvd. Fiance was skeptical about eating here when we walked in, but once he tried the food he fell in love.
Didn't like the food at all
Good variety and tasty.
Chinese food served in a very modern twist! Skewers are really good, especially the lamb! The black cod is to die for! Service inconsistent as it is with any Chinese restaurant, no matter how inexpensive or expensive the menu may be. This is not your typical Chinese restaurant and it seems to cater more to the "high-end" crowd but the food is wonderful. I have been back several times already and plan to try every single item on the menu !!!
My friend and I went for the dine LA courses. It was totally worth the money and the food was super delicious! Will definitely come here again!
Totally Fun place. Show was awesome! Service was pretty slow and unresponsive. We had to ask 2-3 times for our beers, among other minor service flubs. Food was tasty and pretty good for the style
Met BFF for dine LA special lunch menu. We had cold chicken and fried tofu with dipping sauce as appetizer, stewed pork, and fish as main courses. We also had chicken soup- everything was excellent. Loved the fried tofu- crispy outside and tender inside not greasy at all. For $18.00 it's a steal for three courses. In fact portion size was generous so we packed most entree to go. We also rec'd very attentive service. Highly recommend.
The Chang'an restaurant is fabulous. It has a good atmosphere and the happy hour is one of the best in town. First, my only problem with Chang'an is the fact that the price is little bit high, which makes it more difficult to have a decision.
The food was a bit pretentious, like "Short Ribs" and "eggplants", but good. The serves is excellent. People are polite. The food came quickly. i felt comfortable with people's smile.
However,Food is awesome, it is worthy.
