Feast on creative fare at Chalkboard. Its welcoming setting offers a homey atmosphere and a fine dining experience. Chalkboard's Executive Chef Shane McAnelly prepares a variety of seasonal dishes for guests to enjoy that are made from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. An appetizer of baked kale with mushroom dip, pork belly biscuits or warm pretzels will delight the palate. Guests can dine on an entrée of pappardelle bolognese, roasted octopus or buttermilk fried chicken thighs rosemary red potatoes.
Chalkboard is featured in numerous publications like the San Francisco Chronicle and California Home+Design. It offers wine by the glass or bottle, as well as cocktails and beer. This restaurant features a happy hour and hosts private events.
Went here on recommendation of the B&B in which we were staying. We were very happy with the decision. Good to share plates, most memorable were the fried chicken thighs (great, unique hot sauce on bottom of the plate) and the pork belly biscuits. Pasta was unique, though a bit disappointing based on the hype around the place's pasta (Gnudi - lacking flavor).
Stunning pasta tapas with a very satisfying melange of flavors. The ambience is akin to a welcome oasis after a day of shopping and tasting wine. And the service was knowledgeable, attentive and courteous, especially with respect to our time constraints.
Incredible meal! Obsessed with the pork belly biscuit! Everything we are was top quality, interesting and delicious. Can't wait to return again soon.
Fun, casual atmosphere. Great food. Small plates that aren't that small. We'd go back over and over again!
Pork belly sliders are a MUST! Great food, great service- would go back again ! Pasta sampler was crazy good - duck confit with chocolate pasta was off the chain!
Been to Chalkboard three times now. First visit was awesome; nearly everything we tried (the entire menu is small plates) was very good. Unfortunately, our last two visits (one year apart) produced rather diminishing returns. The food was fine, but there was nothing exceptional or noteworthy. A 3.5 rating seems about right.
Food was fresh, unique and eclectic. Fast, friendly service from a very knowledgeable waitress. Items served Tapas style, which was not really indicated on the on-line description/menu. A bit of a surprise, but fun just the same.
We did not enjoy our experience. The meal consists of ordering a number of small plates that are delivered as they are prepared. The food was not really very tasty. Pasta was virtually hard and had very little flavor. Many of the plates were too small to give two people a taste. For the size of the portion, the price was too high. The final bill was quite high and you could not remember what you actually ate. My husband and I were there celebrating our 51st Anniversary and this was not a very memorable dinner.
We had a fabulous experience at Chalkboard. The food was absolutely delicious and our waiter Mags was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return.. We have already spread the word to our friends.
Amazing, amazing all around. Every bite is busting with flavor...
Every course was first rate. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Wish we lived closer to this restaurant!
In Healdsburg with my daughter celebrating a special occasion. A "foodie" friend recommended Chalkboard. Small plates are great. The service started out slow, and I think this was due to the waiter's being overwhelmed by new customers all at the same time. Finally, management reacted and the service improved to "excellent."
Start off with an icy martini and order the pork bisket sliders- absolute heaven. A friendly relaxed setting with first-rate food served as art on a small plate.
Food was delicious and creative. Ambiance left something to be desired -- a screaming child on one side, a very loud and crude diner seated at the next table. Restaurant staff should be able to gently handle such situations, which diminished our pleasure at what should have been a very enjoyable meal. The menu here is a little odd, with unusual pairings of ingredients, so it's best to approach this place as an adventure.
Crudos were fantastic - especially the salmon crude. I'm not usually a fan of tasting menus but everything here was great. Four items were enough for the two of us.
lovely meal - very tasty and incredible service by Erin who was so helpful and attentive. Loved the fried chicken and the Beet Salad - yum & yum.
Very sub standard food, salad dishes were fine, vegetable dishes were terrible , undercooked squash and overcooked beans, both dishes with too much tomato sauce. Pasta dish was too spicy, Altogehter a waste of money. Called to complain and they didn't even suggest refund. This restaurant is over rated. We have dined all over the world and this restaurant shouldn't be Zagat rated.
Indoor and outdoor dining areas are inviting and shareable small plates are delicious.
Fabulous food, great service, unique food combinations that go together well! Loved this place!
Outstanding food and service. Loved it THE "SPECIAL" SALMON CUDO WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD. Our Server Derrick was so polite, informed on the dishes served, and was attentive without being too much. CANNOT WAIT TO VISIT AGAIN.
Food was amazing. Highly recommend!!!
WE LOVE CHALKBOARD – Chalkboard is always a crowd pleaser. We have brought different groups of friends here over the past year and it is always their favorite restaurant of the entire Napa and Sonoma Valley experience. I think it offers something for everyone, given the wide range of eating restrictions that so many people have these days. The food is always perfectly prepared and always so very fresh. We've never been disappointed.
Great place.. Small plate experience... Very nice patio out back
We dined here almost 2 years ago and first time we have been back in the area. I was wondering if it would live up to my expectations from memory and yes it did. The food is amazing. I love that it is smaller plates to share so you get to try different flavors. The pork shoulder biscuits are to die for.
A great place! Love every dish I've had. The service is friendly and the servers are very knowledgable regarding the food and cocktails.
Wonderful food, great service, relaxing but classy atmosphere. This place is a winner. My favorite spot in Healdsburg for sure. Best dishes we had: fresh pasta with pork shoulder, beef sliders, coconut pie. Everything was great. Fun for a group.
The ambiance and location is stunning. The food was amazing and the server was very knowledgeable and wonderful!
Chalkboard had delectable small plates with pasta and the hamachi was amainzg!
We were pressed for time as we had a wedding to get to, so when we told our waiter about our time crunch, he was really great about it and got our order and got is out of the restaurant in 30 minutes!! The food was delicious and I liked how they brought us the check in a journal/guest book. It was fun to read previous entries from other diners at the restaurant.
Delicious clean food. Great service. Pasta is not to be missed.
Everything was well prepared and tasty but the porkbelly sliders are amazing.
Close to a 5 on all counts, but we ate picky. I would certainly go again, and recommend.
We have eaten here many times, and it never fails to be excellent. From the service to the atmosphere to the food, you will not find anything better
fourth time there, always great! quality food and service
An absolutely perfect meal! Food was outstanding - very fresh and inventive. Service was great. Sliders were the best. Great wine flights.
We went there to celebrate my birthday. It was a fabulous meal (we selected several items to share, including dessert) and the service was outstanding! Thank you for a memorable evening!
The tapas style is great for dining companions you'd want to share with. There was a vegetarian Gnudi that blew our minds!
Best restaurant in Sonoma County, and the only one that delivers value on the sharing small plates concept. Killer hand made pastas, lots of local produce, delicious cocktails that pack a punch. Stop reading and GO!
Really nice location and atmosphere but the food has declined. This was our third visit here and I have to say the food was below average. Pasta dish too salty, fish dish very fishy. Desert a bit under cooked.
It was the best place ever I said that.. Bees knees I tell you
