El restaurante Chalkboard, inaugurado en mayo de 2013 bajo la supervisión del chef ejecutivo Shane McAnelly, ofrece un menú de platos ligeros modernos, haciendo énfasis en la temporalidad y la técnica. McAnelly elige gran parte de los productos del menú entre proveedores y granjas locales y muchos de los ingredientes proceden del propio huerto de 1,2 hectáreas del restaurante, ubicado en la cercana bodega Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards. Del menú, que cambia a diario, cabe destacar los platos en crudo y las tártaras, las pastas caseras, las ensaladas frescas, la carne asada y a la parrilla y el marisco. El comedor se ha reformado completamente y presenta un estilo contemporáneo y acogedor, con una cocina abierta, bancas nuevas, suelo de madera y acabados en hierro forjado a mano. El bar también se ha reformado para crear un ambiente animado y tiene acabados nuevos, como la encimera de bar de mármol de Carrara. El Chalkboard también ofrece catas de vino locales y una gran carta de vinos por copa. También destaca el menú de cocteles que se inspira en los ingredientes frescos del jardín de la bodega Chalk Hill.

advertised as " upscale Mexican" only thing upscale about this place are the prices. Taqueria menu without taqueria quality, Prices are just ridiculous .

What a disappointment. The prior reviews and photos do not describe our experience. We visited on on Sunday at 7 pm. There were only two people at the bar and two other tables occupied in the whole restaurant. We had to ask for chips and salsa and we were charged for them. The menu is trying to be elevated, which was reflected in the ridiculous prices. The food was not good. $30 for a taco plate and $30 for chicken enchiladas. I’m certain we would have been happier at a local taqueria.

Taco Thursday and happy hour is a great combination. Food was great (try the guacamole + mas) and the squash tacos are awesome. Oh, and the churros for dessert are finger-licking good.

It was a little concerning that the restaurant was empty. There were only two other diners the entire time we were there. The food was pretty good, but my enchilada Suizas were too salty. We felt somewhat ignored by the weight staff and especially since there were hardly any other customers.

My steak salad was a complete disappointment. It was served in a fried taco shell by a 3rd party vendor, not made in house. The corn was supposed to be grilled, but was not. The steak was cold, as if it was leftovers. A trace of cojita cheese . Overpriced and equal to a fast food truck.

The location was great, and we loved the relax up scale vibe. Our server Jessica S. was great she explained the menu and gave recommendations. Always aware if we needed something before we even asked. She made our dinner great.

We had an amazing first experience at Arandas. What a warm, inviting place to dine & drink. The menu is thoughtful & creative, with unique takes on popular traditional Mexican dishes. The food is thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Every course was delicious. The service is outstanding. The bar choices are plentiful, with an impressive wine & spirits list. So many tequilas, so little time! Dessert was to die for. We will be back, soon.

It was pretty nasty. The place was empty and the nacho chips were inedible. The entrees were very tasty but I was so disgusted after eating the chips that it didn’t matter. I would not go back.

Went for Valentines and had dinner. All of the employees are cordial, and everyone is upbeat. The food was amazing, the dessert was incredible. We liked it so much, we will be back. Thank You!

We decided to come here last minute and booked a reservation - were taken early - brought our friends who hadn’t been before. They were busier than the last time we were there which was good to see however the service was very slow. Our server kept apologizing for the delay a few times before taking our drink order etc. The drinks took a long time to get but after that it seemed like they had all caught up. We all ordered the specials which were very good.

Arandas seems to have made a change to their menu and some of us more 'gringo' locals can now relate to more items than before, so we gave it a try. The food was terrific, the service very good, but with those beautiful arched ceilings, the noise level was terrible. We were right under a sound magnifier and could hear the table 2 away from us as though they were sitting on top of us. With some soft surfaces, the sound may be alleviated and the atmosphere may be much more enjoyable. But the food? Wonderful (we had guacamole, papas, taco salad with chicken, flautas, a masa with chicken and one with carnitas, plus a flan that was amazingly silky).

Unfortunately they only had one server as someone called in sick on NYE. Very little attention to detail as a result like not checking back on the table. Prime rib underdone, salad not dressed properly. churros raw. Good tamales and posole.

Excellent service. Would like to see them have more traffic or a great place like this with wonderful service, quite nice food and beautiful ambiance isn't going to make it long with the costs these days to run a nice restaurant. I was surprised how hard it was to find it on open table. It didn't come up until I went to the restaurant website first to seek a reservation - which then took me to their spot on open table. Open table- please make them more visible.

Food is ok. Would’ve liked to see a menu with ceviche, soups, tamales, … high-end interior Mexican food made with 100% chili sauces (not tomato). Guac was delicious

Nice take on Mexican food with a twist. Quesadillas really good, flautas great. Chicken tacos had an odd flavoring. Service a bit slow but very friendly. Overall prices too high for this food and experience.

We tried several dishes and enjoyed them. The Caesar salad was delicious and very generous as was the cauliflower steak. The chicken main was very good and generous as well. We got two of the quesadilla with cheese and mushrooms but because it was more like an empanada; one would have been sufficient. We tried the guacamole (very good) and papas for appetizers (both good and on the small side). We tried one of each of the tacos which was a good experiment to see what we would order in the future. Excellent service and attention.
