Food is always great & a great price for a brunch. Love the idea of sharing the platters.
Poor service, waiting an hour to be served family-style is ridiculous. Never got the cream for our coffee. The food was mediocre, the plate of meats was just a bowl of bacon and the hash browns were just fries. Would skip this for Chez Cora's or Ben and Florentine.
Great service! Food was good value and vary tasty. Can't wait to dine on the patio this summer!
Excellent concept for dining and trying new dishes. Really enjoyed trying the various salad, pizza, and pasta !
Celebrating a birthday.
No acknowledgement for this.
Food was good
I had been here once before about three years ago and had an excellent meal, so I decided to come back with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. The staff was very friendly and accommodating so I can't speak negatively about that, however they did seem to be very busy with a party of 40 that had reserved a private room, and so my group and I felt a bit neglected during our time there. We were initially assigned a table in the larger space, but because of some confusion when booking, we were downgraded to a smaller table beside the kitchen downstairs. It was very loud at the beginning and hard to have a conversation. It took about 40 minutes between the first two courses, starting with 3 tasty salad options and then the appetizer. We were initially given pita bread with different dip, which were good, and my friend had gotten his own gluten free option on the side which we thought was great. We then got our pizza, which seemed to more or less be a pita with tomato sauce sparsely brushed on top with different toppings. It was fine, but not what we expected. We then received our pasta options which I found a bit disappointing. They were very heavy and I was not a huge fan of the taste. My friends found it heavy as well but seemed to somewhat enjoy. Again, they provide gluten free options for no extra cost to those that need, even when ordering family style, which is fabulous, and my friend really enjoyed his pasta. Overall, it's a great restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere. I would come back again but just try some different options and hopefully on a less busy night.
First time at Chaise Cafe after passing by it daily on the way to work.
It's not your typical restaurant in the French Quarter. The menu was more Italian than French and the seating is more group like than individual tables.
The food and Service were exceptional. When we arrived there were 2 big groups occupying the big tables and they were noisy. The waiter could see our dismay and offered us a spot on the outdoor patio. It was late April and in the evening so he moved 2 big heaters around us and we ate in quiet warmth watching the world go by on Provencher. It was lovely.
The menu had lots of options but not overloaded. You can order Prix Fixe (one price like a buffet but they bring you items). Or you can go a la carte where you order item by item off the menu.
We had roasted caesar salad. Frites-bleu (blue cheese fries). Risotto balls. And a Canadian pizza. It was a lot of food and we enjoyed each dish. The fries were not messy and the cheese was tangy...like 2 year old Balderson cheddar cheese. The risotto balls had a lovely tomato sauce and were hot and perfectly deep fried. The pizza was loaded with toppings and looked to be fire roasted but i cannot confirm. It was all excellent.
Staff was very attentive and even though we were the only ones outside on the patio we were checked on regularly.
When we were done and couldn't eat any more the waiter brought us some bakery treats no charge.
We highly recommend this restsurant. They have a wheelchair ramp. Lots of tables on the main floor and they do have an upstairs sesting area too. The bar is cute and funky to sit and have a drink while waiting. Make a reservation for sure.
We attended Chaise Cafe for our sister's birthday, it was fantastic! Our server was most efficient and friendly! The food was creative and tasty and served hot. The only issue I encountered was trying to make the reservation. I called 3x different days and times, finally I clued in to the online reservati0n system on their website, I did not find this intuitive it looks a bit different than others. Might be worthwhile looking into Chaise Management, we can't enjoy your hospitality and fine food if we can't get in :)
Wonderful experience...will Def go back. Will tell friends.
Once patio opens...eeven more fun!
Chaise is excellent. You can order from the regular menu or get a sampler of items with unlimited seconds and enough for each member of your party. The sunday brunch is $20 plus drinks and you get a savory and sweet course. The food is amazingly good and you get as much as you need to be full. Be aware that they automatically add a 15% tip to your bill but this is very reasonable for the quality of the service and food. They have a good wine, beer and liquor menu as well and they have a huge screened in patio, great for Winnipeg summers.
Great restaurant. Servers were over the top great - Marvin was outstanding.
usually service is awesome but this time one of my party had an allergic reaction to the food and stopped eating after a few bites (depsite having told them she had allergies). so it happens thats not the issue - but they stil lcharged her for 50 percent of her meal which seemed kinda wrong! otherwise good - food was godo - brunch is definitely gettitng better
Excellent service and food. Waitress was very helpful and knowledgable. Food came out very quickly! Would definitely recommend to friends!
The pizza was unreal.
The grilled Caesar was amazing. Will definitely go back for that. Pizza left a bit to be desired. Not enough sauce or cheese for my taste. And sangria seemed like all juice. And had no fruit at all! $25 seemed steep for not actual sangria.
Love this restaurant. Been here numerous times for Brunch. Service, food, atmosphere has always been amazing. Worth checking out. Would definitely recommend reservations as they get pre-booked quickly.
Chose the basic prix fixe menu. Food was excellent. In particular the mushroom alfredo the seafood spaghetti and the margarita pizza. Service was excellent. Server and alternate were very attentive. We added the dessert and espresso bar. The beverages were very good. Desserts were interesting but the flavours were average. Only one was exceptional; the dark chocolate truffle with red wine. Wouldn't order the desserts again but everything else makes a return inevitable. An excellent evening.
Had a rare night out with my husband and another couple and we all had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the prix fixed menu. Everything was delicious and service was great. My friend and I especially enjoyed the sangria ; ) We'll be back again.
Excellent first visit...we will be back!
Atmosphere was okay but it is a bit odd to sit upstairs in the group seating room as it was set up for a later group with only two other tables.
We have traditionally loved the risotto balls but were not told they were flavored before they arrived. Unfortunately my partner hates beets and that was the flavour of the day. They were nice enough to bring him a small portion of another kind.
Pickerel special was panko crusted. It was overcooked without much flavour. Pork special was good.
Service was friendly and efficient
Overall everything was fine but not yum and therefore to me not really worth the price at the end of the night.
This remains one of our favourite restaurants. The prix fixe dinner is a great way to get a wonderful mix of dishes with 3 salads, pasta and pizza as well as 3 meat dishes, if you add this on.
Great food and service. Highly recommended. I really liked the meat and salads, outstanding.
I've been a few times and always enjoyed it. This time was the first time for brunch and left underwhelmed. It was ok..and will try brunch again but wouldn't based on this trip put it into a fave brunch place. Hopefully better next time round.
We host a monthly dinner club and would NEVER return nor recommend this restaurant. Menu was limited and trying to put a meal together was like trying to solve a rubix cube. Waitress/kitchen was inflexible, windows were drafty, lights were blinking good grief what a gong show. We ordered 2 starters and got out. Off to Stella's who were VERY accomodating with LOTS of selection. Calling all Manitobans....SAVE YOUR MONEY!!
Awesome food, service and atmosphere all at a very resonance price. I will be back!
Four of us went to the restaurant after a matinee theatre performance at about 6pm on Saturday. We took a minute to catch on to the family dining approach to Prix Fixe, but it was well explained by our server. We tried the appetizer option for the table which was $ 25 per person, which at first I thought was a bit expensive, but really it wasn't as they were generous with seconds. The pizza was excellent. All of the salads and appetizers were great. We'll certainly go back.
One of our favorite restaurants in Winnipeg.
The only negative is that the dining room lights become dimmer every hour until closing. By 8:00 pm it is far too dim. I find this annoying and spoils the dining experience in an otherwise wonderful restaurant.
We went for a birthday with 3 people. I had a reservation, so they were expecting us. We ended upstairs which is very nice, but the heat was not on and we sat there for the whole meal with our coats on. By the time we left, it was still cold. When we mentioned the uncomfortable cold, they didn't seem very accommodating to move us or apologize. Not understanding why the heat was not on even if the upstairs is not used on a regular basis, it should still have been heated since we did have a reservation. Otherwise, the food was excellent and would recommend it, but twice now customer service doesn't seem very professional.
It's a restaurant I have introduced several friends to. Summer in the screened in veranda is awesome!
Went on Christmas Eve and was very quiet, only one other couple there. Food was fantastic, as usual. Only complaint is that the waitress obviously did not want to be there, and while polite wasn't very friendly and engaging. (She was working Christmas Eve, so can't really blame her...)
Otherwise was a lovely brunch with very dear friends.
I'm always confident suggesting Chaise to friends. My friend and I took our daughter's for dinner prior to the ballet. Chaise never disappoints. We enjoyed an amazing dinner and the service was excellent as always. They loved trying somewhere new and they look forward to introducing Chaise to some of their friends. Thanks for a memorable evening!
Really enjoyed the fixed price lunch. Good value for being able to try a lot of different dishes offered by Chaise.
Food was delicious as per usual.
First time here with my wife for our Anniversary. After over 20 anniversaries, Chaise Cafe is our absolute favorite. We had the price fix dinner which included salad, pasta, pizza, and meats. It is a little sampling of everything. And you can have extra, if you'd like! Like a sit down buffet, but way better. Everything we had was amazing. I especially loved the salad, pizza, penne pasta, and the turkey was terrific. It appears that the menu options change throughout the season.
Service was also amazing. Friendly, prompt, attentive. We couldn't have been more pleased.
We are already talking of a return early in the new year. Can't wait.
The concept was unique, and food came out quickly. The service was terrible. Terrible. Again, terrible service. The girl who checked us out gave a discount - but i wouldn't return because of it.
The food quality and quantity seems to have changed since we were here last....I'd say mediocre.
One of my favourite restaurants! Don't ever change!
I found the food good, but on the pricey side. Some of the group I was with were uncomfortable about not ordering off a menu (we were there for brunch). That didn't bother me. It was very noisy. Filling out what I'd recommend the restaurant for, there are just too many categories to consider, so I didn't check anything off for that reason. Also some of the categories said "great" where I might rate it as "good", or vice versa.
Easy to make reservations. One of my wife's favorite places to go . Great service and great menu. Good wine and great desserts. Very friendly staff. No hesitation to go back
The brunch options were delicious and suited everyone at our table.
