what a lovey spot hidden away from main roads but perfectly accessible. great service, great drinks, great food. a really fun spot for a quiet evening with friends.
Tasty food. Authentic Mexican. Tables, chairs and menus need cleaning.
The location was great. Very close to the subway. Upon immediately entering you got the authentic experience. The decor and ambiance was great. The location wasn’t busy so we were served right away.
We tried a few sets of Tacos and Guacamole. The food portion was great, the Tacos were authentic. If you are comparing them to a new trendy take on Mexican than you may be disappointed.
This was very traditional and flavourful Mexican dining.
Give it a try if you are in the neighbourhood
Always fresh and flavourful- a great neighbourhood restaurant.
My family loves Chacho's! The food is authentic and delicious. The nachos are amazing and the margaritas are nice and strong. Casual Mexican dining, relaxed atmosphere and really nice staff.
Food was very tasty (fish burrito was fanstastic), tacos were made fresh and arrived steaming hot- overall a good experience. Churros were yummy! Food took awhile to arrive
The restaurant was CLOSED!!!!
We were really disappointed this time and it was sad.
Did the chef change? Has ownership chamged?
The food was sub par and the margarita was terrible!
We’ve been many, many times before and it was great. We always have had to wait a while for food but totally accepted the wait because the food was great, but not this time.
I’d it was my first time going I would have never gone back.
We’re atill sad.
Enjoyed the food but the service was a bit lacking..had to search and call over each time we needed something.
Great food at a great price. This is authentic Mexican. Not as saucy as what we are used to. Order extra salsa oe guac and you will be fine. Great Tortilla soup. We were expecting slow service but we had a great server and things came hot and fast. Free parking in Midtown...amazing.
Experience was fine, food was good. I am a little offended they reported that I did not attend my reservation.
Reservation was for noon, show up and restaurant is closed and opens the 1230. Why even allow the reservation on OpenTable then ?
Excellent service and food. We really recommend this restaurant for its food, camaraderie and general ambient.
Decent atmosphere. Good soup and ceviche. Rest of meal was not so good. Friendly service, nice quiet mariachi background. Some of the mains were luke warn or cold.
Low key family dinner, hit several birds for authenticity, to some pozole and tamale to go. One con, though was that it was very cold in the restaurant and on a cold February day, we would've appreciated warm and cozy.
Authentic Mexican fare.
Food is good and the staff is very nice and accommodating but the service is slow.
The service was slow. We asked for water twice and it was never provided, even when we sat down. The ambiance wasn’t very nice, it felt like a sports pub with a group sitting in chairs pulled away from tables in the centre of the room. The room was quite cold also. The meal took forever to arrive and then was not only small, but not very tasty.
Very low key place - food is amazing
Restaurant was closed
I made reservations for lunch at Chacho's in order to take 2 friends--Mexican food enthusiasts-- out for lunch.
Online information indicated the opening hour for Chacho's as 11 a.m., so I assumed it would be open for lunch. Further more, OpenTable took my reservation for lunch for 3 people at 1 pm.
(I had tried to telephone during the day but could not get through.)
When we arrived at 1 pm Chacho's was closed. I have never heard back from Chacho's to apologize or explain why my reservation was taken when it was not open. We were put to finding another restaurant for lunch.
Chacho's was, needless to say, a disappointing experience only for this reason: it was closed.
I would like to try the food to see what it is like--it may be fabulous!--but was forced to provide a "poor" rating in order that this important message get to Chacho's:
Ensure your online information re: hours is accurate and improve your communication with OpenTable.
Excellent authentic Mexican food. I loved the atmosphere and service. Marco was very friendly and suggested some great starters. Price was very reasonable for the amount of food we had. Overall 10/10
One of our colleagues was retiring and wanted to go to Chacho's. I called several times and tried to get a hold of someone. I was not able to contact anyone. I guessed that the place was busy and that the employees did not have time to answer the phone. I made a reservation regardless because it was available on this website. A group of 8 of us walked all the way there and when we got there the place was not even open. We checked the hours on the window, it should have been open at that time. Not sure why they would not be open during regular business hours.
The tacos were great! The fish one was delicious. Guacamole was nice and so was the ceviche. We asked the waiter what the chef recommended and the enchiladas was one of the ones listed, however it was quite disappointing. The shrimp in the burrito was nicely cooked. Service was a bit slow because there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant, but he was very nice.
One server for the whole restaurant isn't fair to him!
Excellent guacamole and generous portions of the entrees. Ceviche very fresh and tasty.
Ceviche was fantastic but the restaurant was understaffed and the service slow although the wait staff was working extremely hard . Other dishes were just okay.
Love the fish Tacos. Staff is always friendly.
Totally worth the trip to mid town. 🌮
Horrible service. Extremely slow to get food out and they also ran out of simple items. Would never go back and not worth the money
Food as always very good. Service a bit slow but it was very busy. Service is awaits happy and pleasant.
Thanks for another great experience !
Business meal, with an important coleague, only to arrive on time and it was closed. Apparently, the owner opens and closes not based on the posted hours but when he chooses, according to a neighbor. Very dissappointed, Open Table should not be supporting places like this
Excellent food. Good selection of Mexican dishes from core expected to more novel.
Inexpensive night out.
Wait staff working hard but they needed another person on . Was quite slow.
Good food. A little busy because of Valentine's but the staff was patient and friendly.
Great place, excellent service. Love this place! Thanks
Went to Chacho's for a family get together and were shocked to see the place completely empty! The service was amazing, drinks were pleasantly strong, food was delicious, and the decorations were great! Overall a great hidden gem that I can't wait to go back to.
Wait staff is great. Food is great. Love the guacamole , nachos and fish tacos.
Thanks for a great time
Food was excellent. Love the fish tacos. Service was outstanding. Great place to enjoy authentic Mexican food.
I have been to Mexico many times so I admit I have high expectations BUT there is no excuse for food served lukewarm, after a long wait, and when the dining room is hardly full.
The Green Mole with Pork Ribs looked like pulled pork tossed with flavourless green sauce. It did not look anything like the picture of the same dish taken by a previous diner recently. Mole should be "all about the sauce" ie a little meat and a copious amount of sauce.
The meat inside the quesadilla al pastor tasted like the frozen shawarma meat. Its sour taste worried me and I expected to be ill after eating it. Fortunately, I was not.
My husband and I dined here with a friend who was craving Mexican food.
Having lived in Houston, TX five years, my husband and I definitely learned the difference between Mexican (Mex-Mex) and Texas (Tex-Mex), and Chacho's is mostly Mexican with some Tex-Mex influences.
So, my husband ordered tacos al pastor, but they were out of that... so he settled on tacos al carnitas. Tasty but "unseasoned."
Our friend and I ordered enchiladas (chicken) with salsa served with rice and refried beans AND chicken in mole sauce served with rice and refried beans and three warm corn tortillas. We found the chicken was dry / overcooked, the tortillas were good, salsa verde was tasty, and mole was not as deeply flavourful as it should have been.
But service was good, the setting was nice, clean and quiet.
We'll consider returning, if we don't find better Mexican food in Toronto.
Great food!! Service took a long time though.
