Cesco Osteria Ratings and Reviews
This is our second visit and it couldn’t have been better. From appetizers to desserts, everything was exceptional. Three of us ordered a variety of things and all were pure perfection. I ordered the seafood salad appetizer, the veal chop entree, and a chocolate meringue cake for dessert. The portions are generous and the flavors heavenly. GO!
The meal itself was fairly good - pasta dishes and calamari all got good reviews at our table, the seafood dishes not as much - and it was a great place to have a quiet lunch for a group, however the desserts weren't good at all and the coffee after lunch was mediocre. The service is always nice and the presentation of the food is great.
The ambiance is a bit stuffy/old school/formal, but for a hearty Italian restaurant it works.
Wow...excellent otp restaurant and worth the drive for anyone in town. Stick with the pastas and you must try the Veal Parm. Great spot for a date or even bring the kids. The place is loud enough but still comfortable. Great service and great food. Keep up the good work.
Went for dinner with family, 3 of us ordered a fish special and one ordered pasta. They ran out of swordfish and offered to substitute cod for one dish. For my monkfish, none of the sides matched the menu description at all and the dish ate very salty. Trout was okay. I had a bite of the pasta and it was much better than any of our specials so if you visit for dinner, I would recommend getting a pasta entree.
I like to have lunch at Cesco Osteria because the tables are far enough apart to make it possible to have a quiet conversation or, if by oneself, enjoy reading a book and having a glass of wine until the food arrives. When th`e food does arrive, the dishes are consistently very good, both in the quality of the ingredients and the preparation. The service is very professional, One need merely look up to attract the attention of one's server. The list of wines by the glass is short, but well chosen and reasonably priced. .
I have been to Cesco Osteria several times and it has always been very good, with attentive service, excellent wines, and authentic Italian cuisine that one doesn't often find at many "Italian" restaurants. Having spent a good deal of time in Italy, the food here comes as close as I have found to traditional northern Italian cuisine. Although somewhat expensive, its prices are not outrageous by local standards, and the quality is generally excellent.
Excellent genuine Italian (Tuscan-style) food in an upscale (white table-cloth) atmosphere. Excellent wine list. Housemade pasta, seasonal ingredients. Excellent fresh fig, prosciutto and parmesan salad antipasto! I didn't have room for dessert but my friend raved about the profiteroles. Nearly empty on a weeknight for early dinner, which made conversation easy. There is an outside patio for dining and drinks that we did not available ourselves of, that seems a little more casual. This was perfect for a business meal, but would also serve for a special occasion meal (i.e. birthday or anniversary).
We took friends out to celebrate my very big number birthday. We were well taken care of tho I'd have appreciated more time between salad and entree. Everything very tasty. We cleaned our plates. The owner and his wife each paid a visit even though the place was full and there was a wedding event going on in the nearby private (but open) room. I went light on dessert and just ordered gelato. It turned out to be the best I've ever had. Go for it.
I've been here for a happy hour or two, and a private dinner party which was well executed. This was my first luncheon. The service was excellent, as always, but the food was somewhat disappointing. In particular, the seafood salad was drowning in a robust vinaigrette. A lighter coating of the dressing would have produced a more enjoyable dish. The focaccia accompanying the meal was flavorful and the cappuccino was one of the best. I would try it again, but order pasta or simply grilled fish.
The food and wine were excellent, absolutely no doubt about that.
Service was attentive and punctual; however, our waiter did not smile even once. I got the feeling he was going through a routine rather than realizing he had never seen us before and that we are not his routine.
The atmosphere was quiet, highly conducive to conversation which is what my friend and I were most interested in
The decor is formal and severe, chairs and table too dark, walls essentially devoid of color. The decor was my greatest shock on walking in. After all, this is an Italian restaurant. I expected something of the color and vitality of the Mediterranean, if not Italy itself.
The waiter was poor with a slight attitude when we asked for an extra item (Ice with the wine because it was served since it was warm.) the appetizers were possibly reheated since they took 5 minutes to come out after we ordered. Furthermore the whole night was short with poor service.
My husband and I went for a date night. We used to go to the old Cesco's in Bethesda and haven't been to this 'new' one yet. We were pleasantly surprised to find that Carlos was still there. We were also shocked that it wasn't crowded for a Thursday night. The food was amazing and we will definitely come back with friends.
