We happened to be in the area . Searched in Open Table to see which Italian restaurant was nearby. Unfortunately, google map kept directing us to NIH. Called the restaurant to get better directions and the maître d was kind enough to stay on the phone and gave us clear directions, until we arrived at the restaurant. Once at the restaurant, we were met by a friendly staff and we quickly relaxed. The seafood angel hair pasta was delicious and so was the fried calamari. Split experience on the pizzas - one said good, the other said it was ok. Service was quick but not obtrusive. We will definitely come back to try the other dishes. Wonderful dining experience overall.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Cesco Osteria. The restaurant was busy but we could still converse at a normal level. Great cocktails, wonderful food, and attentive (but not intrusive) service. We'll definitely return.
The food was grand. Service was fantastic, there was a food allergy and was no problem
We were two couples and each person ordered a different thing. We all thought our food was delicious. The atmosphere is very comfortable and not at all hectic, which is our preference.
We were in town for a business meeting in Bethesda and wanted a place within walking distance from the hotel. We picked the resturant based on reviews on Trip Advisor and it looked good. The food and service was great. The price was consistent with other resturants in the area.
Nice atmosphere. Great server. Osso Buco and risotto were much too salty for my taste. Tiramirsu was good. Not well frequented for a Saturday night. Maybe because it's on a pricey side if you order anything but pasta or pizza. Will it survive?
The food here never disappoints. Great salads and great fish. Wonderful wine list and delicious desserts too. Carlos is always attentive and gracious and somehow remembers us every time we dine there no matter how long it has been. I don’t know why the restaurant seems to remain undiscovered in it’s ‘new’ location.
Consistently great food and service. Ambiance is beautiful.
We ran late and they were kind enough to hold our reservation (place was still pretty empty when we got there, but almost full by the time we left). Beautiful room and good service. Nice and quiet, though probably less so when busy.
We split one appetizer and ordered two salads and two different pastas for main courses. All good, though the squid ink tagliatelle would’ve been better for a bit less cooking (more al dente). I hadn’t specified though, so couldn’t hold kitchen responsible for that. Coffee for me, gelato for hubby, didn’t order booze. Too much food for us,but it was all good.
Bill was just under $90 including tax, not bad. We have season tickets to Roundhouse theatre and will definitely return!
Severely understaffed for Valentines day. waited too long between plates. food was great though.
They messed up our entrees three times on their shorter Valentines Day menu. They brought the wrong items out twice and on the third time brought a really raw steak (ordered medium). I would not recommend.
Great food and service. Only drawback was one server kept bumping my dates chair when he walked through the dining area. We will revisit for certain.
First visita table for four for Valentine's Day. Exceeded expectations in all respects. Serious Italian chef and fine dining with a great menu and wine list (some hidden bargains and Wednesday is half price wine night.) Very convenient to Metro and parking in building. Great service even though it was quite busy that night. The chef is from Firenze and the food shows it. Will return!
Valentines Day and the restaurant was full. Wonderful service and a lovely special Valentine's Day menu selection.
Valentine's Day and very crowded. Food excellent as always but service was less than excellent. Lesson: avoid special occasions for the best experience.
We went to Cesco for our Valentine's Day Dinner. We were really excited, as it was our first time here, however we weren't told (even when we called) about the Valentine's Day Special menu. I've heard so many good things about this place, but there was nothing vegetarian about that menu for dinner - minus ONE pasta. Needless to say, the food still tasted excellent but it was a little disappointing. The two ladies seated next to us felt the same way - that the choices were limited.
The wine list was terrific, the service was great, although our server was a bit rude.
I don't want to judge it based on just this visit, so we definitely plan to go again to try food of their normal menu and will update this review!
Went for Valentine’s Day Dinner. The food was overpriced and bland. There was little effort put into presentation.
It's a good option and one of the few restaurants which are not loud.
The food was excellent. Clientele a little on the older side. Service excellent. Important, at least so far, a reservation was available. Restaurants where nothing is available between 5 and 9 pm are just out. It fits the sweet spot, where a few tables are still open, while most are filled. So the staff is not too stressed.
We use to live in Bethesda and we went to Cesco's at his previous location at least twice a month. We decided to check at out the new location and see if the chef/owner has maintained his delectable Tuscan creations for us to enjoy. Well, he did. AND, we even recognized some of the same Wait Staff who have always been super attentive without being disruptive.
The "amuse busche" -was a wonderful frittata and their home made focaccia bread, still remains one of our favorites. It was a great trip down memory lane for us and the completely filled restaurant on a very rainy night had the perfect buzz of noise. Great people watching too.
Excellent seafood risotto and pasta. Good quality wines.
Salad was nice and crisp, except for the oil, which tasted dated (I was sad for the chef, because that ruined his/her great fennel salad.)
Waiter was a bit impatient.
Overall a very good restaurant.
Delightful ambiance for my son and I to have a dining experience of Tuscan cuisine. Waiter Joseph offered to fillet my Bronzini for me (excellent choice of fish). Wednesday was half-priced wine night so we enjoyed a cab-Syrah blend. Oysters on half-shell were excellent as well. Overall food , wine and service exceeded expectations... Bob Appetit
We haven’t written a review for a long time — and that is a shame because we go to Cesco every week that we are in town. We love it. Cesco provides beautifully prepared dinners with fresh ingredients. Truly, everything is wonderful: appetizers, salads, soups, pasta, fish. The service is outstanding. Last week we went to a trendy, new Italian restaurant that specialized in homemade pastas, small dishes, and unusual ingredients. It was good, but not superb. Cesco offers better food with less pretense. It is one of the most under appreciated and exceptional restaurants in the DC area.
I was hoping to make an impression on my date but the portion size for entrees appeared like an appetizer, and the waiter could not find the time of day to serve us. Extremely disappointed with this classy looking but fails-the-test date night restaurant.
Great service and food!
We were seat just arriving. Water and bread were bring immediately.
Even the restaurant was full we receive attention and food was serve in reasonable time.
Service was very friendly as always!
Food was wonderful, extensive menu! Bar was quiet but the dining room had a great ambience and was full all night! Good service as well!
As always to food was very good on this visit. However, we visited on a cold night and the restaurant was freezing cold. It was an unpleasant experience for which staff made no effort to correct nor apologize. Stay away in cold weather until their heating problem is corrected.
Good foods, pizza, grilled shrimp pasta, veal piccata good but a bit salty, ravioli was delicious. tiramisu was very good. facility is Super convenient via Metro.
Delicious Italian/Continental food, excellent service, and a combination of high ceilings and well-spaced tables that makes friendly conversation private and easy. Not a place to go if you're worried about healthy food or losing weight, but worth it as an indulgence. Reasonably priced for what you get.
The restaurant was frightfully cold despite a small space heater.
Great night lovely service but rocky start. Sat and waited 15-20 minutes - till so thirsty had to ask for water. Tons of staff standing doing not much holding water pitchers walking past. after that service was appropriate - attentive but not cloying. New Years Eve menu a decent price (considering comparable restaurants - always up charge but expectation was thus). Paid about $100 pp ($85 pp price fixe plus $15 additional pp for cocktail or wine). Coat check nice touch.
Food quantity was skimpy and average for the price, my husband and I both had appetizer and entre with half a bottle of wine but we felt half satisfied after our dinner. In most restaurant, we will not able to finish our entre after an appetizer.
I was less than impressed with this restaurant. The food was mediocre. The service was mediocre. I expected more from a restaurant that opted to be open on Christmas Eve - and for the price. Our companions said they had similar experiences in the past. We won't likely return, unfortunately.
I'm always a little disappointed when I eat here. The food is good, but never great. The appetizer salad had almost no fennel and needed a little more dressing to make it flavorful. The potatoes and vegetables served with the fish were ordinary, at best. Carrots and broccoli aren't improved by being sauteed with a large quantity of minced garlic...they are still just carrots and broccoli. The restaurant is very attractive and the service was good. The wine list is extensive, but could use more choices for individual glasses.
ORDERED LINGUINI WITH LOBSTER...GOT SPAGETTI WITH 3 MINISCULE PIECES OF LOBSTER.
halibut(fresh) was so over cooked my wife left 1/2 of it. FRESH HALIBUT SEASON IS APRIL THRO OCT?
My wife and I set up dinner for two other couples and ourselves. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and shown to our table, which was in a protected area of one of their beautifully appointed dining rooms. The menu is varied and extensive, as is the wine list. Our server allowed plenty of time for conversation between courses. All meals were prepared to our specific specifications and were delicious. I highly recommend Cesco Osteria.
Cesco's doesn't disappoint. It was impressive that the lovely woman who greeted us had read my request for a quiet table and she gave us THE perfect table, intimate and quiet! THANK YOU! So many restaurants are so loud that no one can hear each other, but Cesco provides a great space for delicious food and great conversation! The wait staff were excellent. All the waiters were very attentive and so pleasant! We had a Chianti, which was very good, calimari, lasagna, wild boar ragu over wide noodles, liver and onions, and angel hair pasta in garlic sauce. Their baby fritatta is always delicious! No one had room for dessert, sadly! We'll be back again and again!
The service was amazing. Our waiter gave us suggestions & everthing was perfect. As well, very accommodating.
It’s been a long time that I’ve said “that was delicious” about a meal I’ve had out. Can’t wait to go back.
Our custom made salads were delicious. The service was excellent, and best of all it was quiet, something that is rare these days in restaurants.
service was slow...when informed our waiter was quick to reply but sometimes it looked like he had too many tables and we had to wait to get his attention
Cesco has such fresh food, homemade pasta, and excellent service. They treat you like family and we're always glad we came.
