Service was outstanding but the food was better !
We tried two pastas. Both would have been considered excellent in a top notch restaurant in Italy. Well done!
Love the food at Cesco. Never disappoints and the specials are always amazing. I love that this is still a family run restaurant with Cesco and his wife on site taking care of big and small picture details. you can't go wrong here. Great for a comfort food dinner, special occasion or anything in between.
Nice restaurant. Pleasant staff.
The short rib was very fatty. The blackened cod was very fresh, but very salty. The branzino was filleted table-side and was excellent. The seafood pasta was also very good.
The steak was one of the best we've had in a long time.
Wonderful ambiance, excellent service, delicious cuisine. We were already planning entrees for next time!
Our party of five tried Cesco Osteria for the first time on August 23, 2019 for a birthday celebration. We had the most wonderful experience. Sometimes it's difficult to find food that everyone enjoys, but not here! There were so many options (including a number of options for vegetarians) and every member of my family cleaned their plates. The vegetable lasagna amuse bouche was a pleasant surprise, as was the delicious tomato focaccia bread. We tried three appetizers: arancini, anchovies (chef's special), and portabello mushroom in phyllo. Dinners included: house-made butternut squash raviolini in mascarpone cream sauce, scallops with risotto (chef's special), crab-stuffed trout (chef's special), house-made ravioli with chicken (chef's special), and the veal porterhouse chop. If we had any room left, we would have ordered desserts as well. Service was great, the only thing I would have liked was for the waiter to ask us once if we needed anything once we got the meal. The only time we saw him before plates were cleared was to see if we wanted more wine (did I mention the nice wine list?). We will definitely come back here because the food was so outstanding. Please let the chefs and staff know how happy we were and our occasion was more special due to this experience.
We had a 915 pm reservation. We showed up on time but there was no one at the host station to greet us. One of the busboys saw us and asked us if we wanted the table for two. I told him we had a reservation. It took 10 minutes for the hostess to come back to the station, I told her we had a reservation, she then told me the kitchen was closed and we could have seat in the bar. We had driven very far for 30 minutes and we’re looking forward to a full meal, not sitting in the bar. It was very disappointing that we had to leave the restaurant and look for another one in the area. I spoke to the manager, he apologized telling me that the kitchen staff left early without him knowing it. This sounded quite strange to me given that the restaurant was open and accepting reservations.
Each bite burst with flavor! From amuse bouche to pizza and bread sticks to primi plati to secondi not a bad mouthful. Wine list dod not disapoint either
Delicious food and fantastic service!
Delicious Italian food. Very accommodating, too.
Great food with excellent service and ample portions at very reasonable prices. This restaurant is a must for anyone that savors a fabulous meal
Great food, attentive service, easy reservation. We’ll be back!
Amazing service for our two girls, one of which needed to be gluten free. He made them feel very special and made a great gf option
Wonderful grilled halibut dinners and risotto with seafood. Simply wonderful. And the usual exceptional service.
I enjoyed my first time at Cesco's. I look forward to going back and getting more traditional cuisine.
As frequent diners, we've always had a wonderful experience. But on this evening my wife received the wrong dinner, with no offer to replace it or some other recompense. No one came around to check on us or refill wine glasses. Quite a surprise after all these years.
Cesco was a wonderful dining experience for my wife and I . A very informed waiter and staff. On time reservation seating and thoughtful presentions and recommendations. I would recommend to anyone interested in fine dining and Northern Italian cooking.
The food was delicious — finding the parking lot was confusing the first time. Service was good and the table was perfect for our celebration as promised.
Biggest issue I had was when our dinner arrived at our table the server gave my husband his and left mine on the tray and went off. About 10 minutes later he comes back with another server and he asked if I wanted my Branzino filleted. I said yes but by the time he was done about half the fish was still on the tray mixed in a pile of bones.
We enjoyed our evening at Cesco Osteria. The woman who welcomed us when we entered the restaurant and seated us was a first-rate professional. She offered us two seating choices for an intimate dinner for two - I'm sorry I didn't get her name. Our waiter was a pleasant gentleman but we didn't sense he was interested in engaging us in making menu selections. The food was over-the-top good! We enjoyed rigatoni and ravioli pasta dishes that were served exactly as advertised. The highlight of our night was the dancing we enjoyed in the lounge - music provided by the Trio Caliente! We're coming back for the food and the entertainment!
The restaurant was very difficult to get into and out for those who are disabled. Would recommend not going there if you have a mobility problem. You need to get out of the car at the entrance leading to the garage side and then walk down a very long uncovered ramp to get to the front of the restaurant to avoid steps. The entrance directly in front of the restaurant (because it is a one way street) involves getting out on the passenger side into the street with traffic coming behind. Not safe!!
Very disappointed in the food quality but pleasantly surprised by the pricing. Almost every cooked item was very salty. It’s a beautiful restaurant that I’d wanted to see and check out for future events, as I’m an event planner, but I don’t think the cuisine will improve.
Good place and easily accessible via the Metro in downtown DC. Very reasonably priced by Washington standards. Food is good, but not great, but again, for the price, it is very good. Worth the night out. Had a blast.
Superb dinner. Most of us had fish — all fresh and beautifully prepared. Wonderful homemade pasta. Exceptional service. And a delectable post dinner treat: the Bongo Bongo. Love this restaurant!
Went for half price bottle of wine Wednesday. A real bargain, had a great wine and lunch. First time sitting outside, got lucky on a non humid day, it was very nice. Ordered a couple of appetizers and 3 pasta dishes for sharing among 2 people. It was plenty, and so delicious. Dont forget the deserts, presented beautifully and tasted great. The waiter who took care of us was fantastic, didnt miss a thing while at the same time we barely noticed him. Great food, wine and service made for a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.
My wife and I had a nice dinner Saturday night. The food, wine, and service were all top notch. We enjoyed every part of the night.
A very pleasant experience. The food presentation was excellent. The seafood linguini was ample and very tasty. The veal osso buco was very tender and flavorable. A great meal
We always have a wonderful evening at Cesco Osteria due to the wonderful service of Carlos. He is a true professional in every way!
This was some of the best food around!!!
Food and wine were excellent . Nice variety. We had our grandchildren and they had a nice selection for them as well
Our waiter was phenomenal as was the food!!
Why is this place not busier? Was there for lunch and had an enjoyable meal. Great atmosphere, delicious food and server was very attentive.
Loved the place but the waiter was rude when I asked for separate checks for a large group! I have a newborn and I shouldn’t be expected to do math at 10pm...
It was our first visit to Cesco. Lovely very tasty food, super service by waiter (Guilermo?), wonderful rosé wine.... We will definitely be back 🥂
Grew up in an Italian family in NYC with great chefs among our family members and the best Italian restaurants outside of Italy. And we have had many trips to all parts of Italy. In my opinion this is the most genuine Italian restaurant in the Washington region. Excellent food at reasonable prices.
We were a party of six. Closed down the restaurant. Giuseppe was our waiter and he did a great job. We went there twice and I'd go back. The pasta limon and the butternut squash ravioli were my favorites.
Didn't care for space, not quaint and cozy like remembered. Service was lousy. Waiter disappeared and never returned after entrees were received.
Birthday dinner, we had a fun evening
Generous appetizers (some sort of frittata + focaccia) meant we didn't have to order any. Food and ambience were good. The wait staff disappeared for a long time between finishing our main courses and ordering dessert and coffee/tea.
