The Florentine ravioli were dry and pasty filling with no flavor and not good pasta or sauce
The seared prawn were very good, fresh and cooked just right with a delicious sauce.
Their oil dip was very good but the bread was plain flour and water soft bread
Great menu selection, great food. Great price. Large portions. Friendly service.
It took quite a while before anyone came to take our drink order, but once we did get attention things flowed very well. We stopped here for dinner before a show. This is definitely old school SF Italian. The food and beverage is traditional and delicious in a guilty pleasure sort of way. I don’t know when I last had white bread that white and processed. The salads are large. Ask them to easy on the dressing. We had the spinach salad with pancetta and that could have been a whole meal if one wasn’t very hungry. We also had crab cakes, chicken parmesan, and spaghetti with meat balls. My husband likes that last dish. I didn’t. Overall, it’s a fine place to go if you don’t need a foodie experience. Avoid the table by the bathroom, the one by the front door, or outside.
Cesario’s is a small restaurant with many items on the menu. The fish entree was excellent , but the veal Marsala was bland. The dessert was excellent. Overall I would give it 3 and half stars
Outstanding service and excellent food, we always visit Cesario`s when in San Francisco.
This time we had Penne Bolognese which was awesome, and Penne Ariabiata which were a little bit too spicy for our taste.
Small quiet restaurant, @ 12-15 tables. I am guessing that our waiter was also the owner. I can only describe him as a "elegant" gentleman. Great location-corner of Sutter and Mason. First floor but above street level. So good place to watch the street activities. I would definitely go back again and again !
This was a very festive, inviting, quaint restaurant. There were four of us, two had veal and Lobster Raviollis and said they were outstanding, the other friend and I had the seafood salad, it was high disappointing. I know its an Italian place but this sounded good to us seafood lovers. I want to go back it was a fun experience, just will order differently.
This restaurant is a jewel, right in the heart of the Union Square and theater district. Every item was true to traditional Italian cuisine but with a modern influence of healthy and tasteful additions. The restaurant staff were always very friendly and helpful. We can't wait to come back!
Ok food...wouldn't go again
We make a dinner reservation at Caesarios whoever we are in SF. The food and service are wonderful, and you won't find a better value near Union Square. We leave feeling full, happy and looking forward to our next visit.
Very busy night with Black Friday and in the fabulous shopping district of San Francisco. There was a back up with reservations but the owner did a great job of getting people seated and was concerned that we had to wait a little bit and even discounted our bill. The food and service was great and a great neighborhood find.. I recommend it!
Very happy with our dinner.
We had reservations however on a busy evening. Unfortunately they were overbooked and we had to be seated outside where there are just two small tables. Normally fine but there were people standing everywhere and vehicles traveling fast right next to us.
We always eat at Cesario's after the tree lighting at Union Square. The food is excellent. There is something for everyone on the menu. The restaurant is very small, so reservations are a must.
We had a great family get-together here. The place is not large but we had an excellent table. I had the butternut squash ravioli- really, really good. The veal piccata and fettuccine Alfredo were excellent as well. The salads were big enough to share and the drinks were tasty.
We were quite satisfied with our first visit to Cesarios. Comfortable atmosphere and the dishes we selected (Veal Marsala and Broiled salmon risotto) both were outstanding and delicious. We'll add Cesarios to our top priority list of Union Square/Theater district restaurants of San Francisco.
My husband and I have been to Italy many times. Cesario's reminded us so much of restaurants we've enjoyed in Milan and Florence. The atmosphere, the food - even the owner - authentic! We both ordered the salmon with white wine and capers, served with risotto and sauteed spinach: excellent! For dessert, my husband had a wonderful Tiramisu, and I had creme brulee'...Yes, it's a well-known French dessert: but it, too, was absolutely delicious! So, if you're looking for an authentic European dining experience (as opposed to one the many "ethnic-inspired-cooking-show-eateries" that are sweeping the nation) - then do visit Cesario's. Real Italian, right in San Fransisco.
Really great food with a neighborhood ambience. It's the real deal with authentic Italian food. Good service too.
This resturant is conveniently located close to Union Square, and that is where we are usually staying. It's nice to be able to walk and not have to find parking or pay for Uber. The food and service are excellent, but it is quite pricey for our family of five. Regardless of the price we will be back!!
I don’t know why this restaurant got such good reviews. Bread was almost inedible (dry and plain) and pasta dishes were unremarkable at best. Service was good and quick, but food fell short.
We were 10 minutes late which I understand, but first they denied I had a reservation, until I pulled it up on my phone. Then they did not seem to know what to do until they finally offered us a table that seemed to include two other guests who were already sitting at the table. It was clear they had given my table away and said we would have to wait even though the restaurant was not very full. So we left and found another restaurant that would appreciate our business. I will never return.
The food wasn't bad but not great. They do not know how to make Risoto.
Stopped in for a quick meal before a show and really loved everything about this place. Will certainly go back in the future to try more things on the menu. A gem and a find.
Outstanding dining experience.
Although I've eaten lunch here several times, this was the first time I had dinner here. The lobster ravioli were still excellent; I ordered seafood risotto which had lots of seafood in it but the rice was not as creamy as I would have liked - a little dry. Usually their canolli are great but I found the shells a bit had this time (they don't make their own). I will always go back though as it is right next to Marines' Memorial so is very convenient for programs there. There are only about a dozen table in the restaurant so make sure you make reservations or you will have a long wait!
I've eaten here several times. The food is always authentic and the staff always friendly and helpful. It's a small restaurant in San Francisco, which means they have to turn around tables and fit in as many as possible, so it's a little tight spacially and sometimes you may have to wait even if you make a reservation. All in all, this is not a restaurant for uptight foodies, it's for people who like a lively atmosphere, authentic Italian quality food, and not caring about the small stuff.
Lovely food - massive portions. The area is cramped but adds to ambiance.
We were staying at the Marine's Memorial, and also seeing a show there on a Saturday night. We hadn't made dinner plans, but this corner restaurant is in the same building and it looked absolutely charming. We had no reservation and the restaurant was filling up. But, we were warmly welcomed by the Maitre d and felt lucky to get a corner booth. I am vegan and they were very helpful with that; I had vegetables and pasta and my husband had a classic Italian veal dish. We will definitely go again but this time with a reservation!
My husband and I enjoyed a very relaxing evening at this quaint restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent we will definitely be back.
Great ambiance. The food was good and dessert was amazing. We had the Lemoncello cake.
Hey thank you Cesario's. We returned to your restaurant twice during our holiday in San Francisco and had great meals both times. We had been to Cesario's on a previous trip a couple of years ago and found the service, atmosphere and food to be as good the second and third times around! We will be back again. Thank you. Regards, Ally and Mike
We always stay near this restaurant when visiting San Francisco and eat here each time. Diverse menu and delicious.
Excellent food and service, we will definitely be back the next time we are in town. This was the best meal that we had on a 4 day trip to San Francisco!
I liked Cesario's very much. I would definitely recommend it to those who love Italian food. I am very picky about Italian food and this restaurant's lasagna was fabulous!
Excellent service, we had our watress so concerned about initial seating she offered to move us to a more comfortable window seat before our dinner came. Will never forget that-or the food!
Actually dined here twice during 5 days in SF. The first time because it was late (9:50 pm) on Wednesday night and we could see it from the hotel door. Restaurant closes @ 10:00 pm. We were jovially greeted and assured of no problem with late arrival. Food and wine were first rate, service was amiable and efficient. So we came back three days later and als had a very nice meal.
What a lovely downtown restaurant. Staff was attentive and food was freshly prepared and very good. A problem with my entrée (which might have been my fault) was rectified swiftly and with a smile and lots of concern. We enjoyed a very lovely meal before heading to the Hotel Rex for a cabaret show.
Just hope that the ambient temperature outside isn't above 90 degrees since they have no air conditioning.
We had a 6:30 p.m. weeknight reservation and were glad we did. The place was almost full when we arrived. It's small -- seats about 50. Terrific pear salad on the menu and we both had a special: lamb shank provencal, quite good. We could see that all portions are large. Reasonable wine list. The kitchen is somewhat open to the dining room and some sound carries, but it wasn't a negative for us. Well run by the maitre'd and the service was warm and professional.
