What a fun neighborhood Italian restaurant! We were pleasantly surprised by this little gem!
We always enjoy Caesario. The food is delicious and stars are great!!
great food & service. On my way to something close by and having lived in the neighborhood for years I have never eaten here so glad I was able to experience this neighborhood Jewel!
Excellent dinner. Clam/mussel appetizer was delicious. Almost ate too much bread soaking up the sauce. Entrees were very good. Boneless lamb shank special was tasty and filling. Definitely would return to this restaurant on another trip to SF.
We dined here just before walking next door to the Marines Memorial Theater.
I had asked for a tale off tot he side due to a hearing issue and it was waiting for us...right next to the windows. The wait staff was lovely, The food was great. The location for our evening was perfect.
Excellent Italian. Kids loved ravioli florentina and spaghetti with prawns. Will definitely return.
Love this place. Quality food at a reasonable price.
We were in San Fran for one night, and found Cesario's on Yelp. Fortunately, we were able to get a reservation with only one hour's notice. We were seated VERY promptly. The carbonara is the BEST I have ever eaten. The bread is disappointing. Prices were reasonable for a big city. Will definitely return.
Eggplant was awesome, the other dishes were good. ..We came in and the owner/host was friendly and asked who had reservations; we did and were sat immediately.
Our server had a little bit of a tough time speaking English which is totally fine with us since she and all other servers and entire cooking staff are all Asian. The only person not at this Italian restaurant is the owner/host.
Now for some cons..
I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and as my side I wanted Polenta.
She said no because it is 2 vegetables & told me I am not allowed to. Which is odd because they have the list of sides below the entrees listed all together.(pasta/polenta) So then I said I would just have the eggplant with Risotto.
She said no because and I quote “Risotto is a vegetable & you can’t have 2 vegetable”
I think the entire human race is aware that Risotto isn’t considered a vegetable but I settled on the angel hair.
Our carpaccio was tough and I didn’t have a knife to cut it so the entire plate sat there until it was removed about 7 minutes after we were seated when the food came out.
My daughter wanted a Shirley Temple but they said they can’t make it.
So she ordered a coke and was brought a sprite.
The meatballs had a meatloaf flavor not an Italian meatball (veal/pork) flavor.
But hey we love Meatloaf so whatever. My Mom’s spaghetti & prawns was awesome and my eggplant was some of the best I’ve ever had in my life.
We brought our own Champagne which we left almost 1/2 bottle because when we didn’t want Desert the bill was immediately brought.
This is an in and out place, I understand because they only have about 12 tables in the entire place and 8 if those only seats 2 people. They have a line of people out the door at all times waiting to come in.
Our entire experience from the door until our uber picked us up was about 50 minutes.
It's a good restaurant near Union Square with a friendly staff.
Great little place to dine in not a fancy place at all felt comfortable enough to enjoy great food
A great find! Excellent food. Inexpensive wine. Was lucky enough to get the window table for two. Great people watching. Definitely go there again.
I loved the polenta lasagna! The veggies with it were crisp and fresh. My friend had the paella and loved it.The service was excellent! I drink a lot of water and my glass was refilled immediately. It's a small restaurant with really good food.
A small, intimate restaurant in Union Square. The food was delicious!! Lovely wine list and very reasonably priced. The Alfredo sauce was the best!! Owner and the staff were wonderful.
Always enjoy eating at Cesario’s when visiting San Francisco.
A gem in San Francisco. Superb food. You will not find a better Bolognese sauce in California. Tiramisu was the best I've had in a long time.
We come to SF every year for 5 days the past 9 years for a conference held at the Marine's Memorial Hotel right next door. We always have at least 2-3 of our dinners here as well as sometimes lunch. I have even ordered food to my room and the manager delivers it! Everything is great and we have had several things on the menu...always fresh, hot and nicely presented. Service is very attentive but not over bearing. We always look forward to coming here! Very highly recommended!

the food was good and the ambiance was cozy. the waitress had a couple of mishaps, but overall did a good job: I think she was training someone but didn't tell us that so it was confusing when the other person brought the dessert menu while we were waiting for our main dishes. also, they didn't ask if we wanted dessert at the end, they just brought the bill. also, my cocktail didn't taste nor seem like it had much nor any alcohol in it. I kept thinking about what was wrong while I was there, but didn't put my finger on it until after we'd left.
Traditional Italian menu produced well cooked food in generous portions at fair prices, good wine list with local &Italian wines
As always my favorite place in San Francisco for great Italian food. The service was a little slow tonight but in fairness there were new servers.
Will definitely return.
Wonderful small restaurant. The service was fabulous and the food even better! A pure delight! Highly recommend for couples and friends
Nice small Italian restaurant near Union Square. Good regular menu and excellent special.
This is one of my favorite restaurants and because there are only about 12 or so tables, you must make a reservation. I would say to stick to the pasta dishes which are great. I ordered a veal dish this time and although the piccata sauce was very tasty, the veal was a little tough. With the meat dishes though, you get a choice of mashed potaties, risotto or polenta.
Great service, delicious food.
Visit at least once per year and always enjoy the tasty food, cheerful staff and good service. The wine list has real bargains. WE both had veal dishes this week. The portions are large and yummy. Look forward to another visit.
Had a reservation for 1 on a Sunday night, quickly seated and terrific service. Veal Parm was great and very reasonably priced. Awesome meal all around.
Always a solid choice in the neighborhood. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cesario's for good Italian food in the Union Square area. We've been going here four about 5 year, and have never been let down.
Great chicken parm!
The food was classic Italian with fresh flavorful sauces .. Excellent pet tale sole.
Love the warm ambience of a small place in the center of town so easily accessible. My guests were impressed !
The food was wonderful. The portions were not overwhelming yet not too skimpy. The atmosphere was busy but the seating arrangements allowed for table conversations. We will definitely return when visiting San Francisco next time.
Una cocina de los mas normal. Sin gustos especiales. Niguna sorpresa. Cualquier cocinero amateur cocinaria mejor. Como conocedor diria que a este resto le falta un cocinero con pasion por dar de comer a gente como un regalo con amor y profesion. Absolutamente normal! No volveria
Small but cozy place to have a comfortable dinner with friends
Great Lasagna and ravioli brought by a friendly wait staff
Cesario's is a gem of San Francisco. The owner and the wait staff are warm and friendly. The food is outstanding - the best comfort food in town. It's our go-to neighborhood restaurant.
We were visiting from Vegas and the food was fantastic!
One year anniversary dinner. Wish we got a window seat but instead we were by the kitchen despite making reservations. Food was good. Prices were high but par for the city. Flourless chocolate cake was good. Good service.
Four of us dined at Cesario's to celebrate my birthday. We all enjoyed our meals and left nothing on our plates! My Chicken Marsala with Risotto was delicious. My husband had the Chicken Parmesan which I tasted and it was also very good. Our waitress was cordial and service was great. I am pretty picky with food because I consider myself a good cook. The only thing that I could say was not perfect was that my chicken could have been more tender. There were three of what I would call cutlets of breast meat that would seem to be of that size due to pounding them which would have made them more tender. So I'm not sure why the chicken was a little too firm. But the Marsala was so delicious that I was able to put that aside and enjoy the meal.
Supurb food and service. Chateau St Jean Chardonnay should be listed as California not Sonoma as on the wine menu. Still a good value.
Great service , great food and nice quiet atmosphere ( we were there early though at 5:30 on a week night) Chicken Picatta was some of the best i’ve had... smooth, great flavored sauce.
We had an early dinner before Theater. We are locals, but somehow had never eaten at or known of Cesario’s; we will definitely return. Loved the small neighborhood feel, generosity us portions and tasty Italian entrees.
