Cesare At The Beach Ratings and Reviews
Very expensive compared to other Italian restaurants in the area. Menu has a good selection. No draft beer available - bottles only. Some parking available near the building. Veal plates were tasty and nice looking with fresh spinach. Marinara sauce was very salty.
Sigh. We live way up in Lutz, and keep looking for a good Italian restaurant closer to us. And then, after we tried yet more spots, we keep coming back to Cesare's. Great, fresh, Italian food. Authentic. Their 'basic' wines are fine; my only (minor--see below) complaint is their wine list: Too short. Needs more Italian. The good news is that they also allow corkage, and I usually try and bring one of my own Brunellos or Barolos.
The location is good, the service was fine, the price to be as expected. However, the food was only so so. The oil for the bread had no seasoning, the dressing on the salad had too much oil, the bisque was bland and the marina was way too sweet. Not at all what I would expect for a good Italian restaurant.
We felt welcome from the moment of our arrival. Friendly and quick service, even with a full house. Our foursome had the escargot and salad apps; delicious and a great start to our meal. The lasagna, grouper, veal saltimbocca, and veal Marsala were all outstanding. The wines selected for pairings, including a house Chianti, met our palate preferences. A tri selection of desserts (limoncello, chocolate ice cream & tiramisu) shared among our table....oh my! Thanks to Michael at the Marriott for confirming this nearby gem. Do not pass this “owner present” by; be sure to make a reservation.
Cesare's is usually the first restaurant that my snowbird mom wants to visit upon her arrival, and was once again this year. This restaurant is a small local place, and our waiter Philip has taken care of us several times now. It is nice seeing the same faces, and the owner always stops by to chat and make sure everything is satisfactory. The menu (plus daily specials) is quite extensive, but everything comes out from the kitchen fresh, hot and delicious. I like that the courses are spaced out so that we never feel rushed and have the opportunity to enjoy the good authentic Italian dishes. There are still a number of items on the menu that I am dying to try but haven't gotten around to yet (Veal Frank Sinatra! ) but those we have tried are consistently excellent. It is almost an hour drive from my home in St. Pete, but Cesare's is ALWAYS worth the trip!
Caesars is a five star experience as was advertised by other comments. Excellent Service and great wine list with the "best" Italian fare...I live in Naples and my daughter in Ft Lauderdale..this restaurant is a gem and there is no competition in Naples or Ft Lauderdale to compare!! A must when you visit Clearwater Beach! Caesars was the highlight of our XMAS eve and XMAS day first time visit to Clearwater Beach.
Cesare 's proved to be an excellent spot to celebrate a birthday on a chilly evening. It is a cozy space and surprisingly quiet. The staff certainly made us feel at home, and the risotto came out hot and scrumptious, the shellfish fresh and nowhere near overcooked. We would certainly return on a subsequent trip to Clearwater.
This was our second visit to Cesare, and it was excellent. We had friends visiting from Finland and from Ft. Myers, and all six of us were very pleased with our meals. The special entree of the day that I ordered--little stuffed pasta purses filled with cheese, a yummy sauce, peas, fresh mushrooms, and prosciutto--was one of the best pastas that I have ever eaten. Three in the party ordered the pasta with a pesto sauce, and all raved about it. Service was excellent, and the ambience really nice without the touristy, loud music so common on Clearwater Beach. We were very happy, and the dinner was a huge success for quite a varied group of folks. Highly recommended!
A great menu and service. Average looking restaurant. Food was quite good, but not as good as reviews had led me to believe.
All in all I would certainly go back.
Sebastian our server was excellent and answered our many questions with a smile and grace. Well done, sir!
I was somewhat disappointed by our dining experience at Cesare's at the Beach. My wife and I went there because we were staying up the street in Clearwater and Cesare's had a 4 star rating on Open Table and Yelp. We arrived early for our reservation and the host who was extremely cordial seated us immediately, and our server followed up quickly. The burrata was excellent, the chianti they had by the glass was so-so, and the lobster bisque was outstanding. My wife also enjoyed her entree, but mine was where things went south. I ordered the medallions of beef with gorgonzola sauce. When it arrived I saw mushrooms (expected), a brown gravy sauce (not expected, but not a problem) but no gorgonzola sauce. Rather than medallions of beef there was a solid filet. I asked the server where the gorgonzola was and he assured me it was in the sauce, "...under the steak...", and I assumed that that I had misunderstood how they did their medallions of beef. I went ahead and ate it...if there was any gorgonzola, it was totally masked by the beef stock in the mushroom sauce. The filet was tender and just a little more done than the rare I ordered, but it was also a bit gamey in flavor. That is not surprising when getting a choice rather than prime cut, but one of the reasons I thought I was ordering the medallions rather than a filet was to avoid the gameyness of the solid filet. It became clear that I was given the standard filet rather than what I thought I was getting and the server did not want to return it. As a final problem, and not acceptable for a better Italian restaurant, the dessert cannoli was tough, not crispy, and the stuffing was way too heavy; and my wife's creme brulee had a crust that was way too thick on it (and was overly charred). All in all, not a horrible experience, but more disappointments than I would have expected at a better place in Clearwater.
