Food was excellent and the atmoshphere was beautiful. Perfect for a romantic date.
our food was fabulous - -the restaurant was FREEZING and very uncomfortable. We spoke to several people about it and they said it couldn't be adjusted but they understood because it was set at 64. We were all very happy to leave - too bad it made our experience not a positive one
Everything was great, waitress was pleasant and quick, but the kitchen was extremely slow in delivering food, we ordered simple lunch dishes but it took nearly 1 hr for the food to hit the table.
Have dined here a couple times. Both times the food was very good and the service very good as well. First time was with a group of 12 and they found us a nice private alcove off the main dining room which was great.
The second time was just 2 of us and everything went very nicely then too.
Worcester is kind of a funny restaurant market and some of the more popular restaurants are really noisy and busy. The Ceres Bistro provides a nice change from that with some decent food, a nice wine list and great parking (solving another Worcester issue.)
An outstanding Worcester Area Restaurant. A little pricey. I really like the outdoor dining during the summer months.
I'd like the restaurant, it's nice and clean.
I can't seem to get OpenTable's review section to accept much of my review so I will make this short and sweet. Our dining experience at the Ceres Bistro was oustanding from beginning to end. We started with the cheese plate and warm baguettes. It was more than ample for the four of us and well appointed with honey, cranberries, and walnuts and veggies. We were glad to have skipped salad course and go directly to the entrees. Our selections included the 14 oz. sirloin strip, Asian short ribs, rack of lamb and surf and turf lobster and filet combo. Everything arrived piping hot and cooked to perfection. With little room for dessert we decided to split the Ceres Dessert Plate. Again an excellent choice served with fresh coffee.
I had been to Ceres a couple of months ago. Everything was outstanding at that visit and I would have given everything a top rating. Unfortunately this visit everything was just OK. The steak that had melted in my mouth on the first visit was chewy and full of gristle. The waitress was over occupied talking with another couple and a single diner. We felt forgotten and snubbed because we weren't drinking alcohol. Bad vibes from her. I'll go back once more and hope to have an experience like my first visit.
We planned a lunch meeting and the staff was very respectful, maintaining a polite distance during our conversations and not rushing us to order. Very comfortable for a business lunch.
Service staff was nice and friendly..however the food was not cooked properly at all..steak was rare (asked medium) and they didn't replace just reheated..also overpriced for what they provide..drinks were okay although they didn't make one correctly and would not fix it without having to pay extra..overall nice atmosphere but food and drinks could be improved ..
This was our first visit and we were happy with our choice. The food quite good so I wish I could have given it 3 and a half stars. The menu was creative and the service was very attentive. We were seated near the kitchen doors so it was a bit noisy and we witnessed some near misses. The outdoor dining area wasn't open, but we'd definitely like to go back and try it. A better option than sitting right on the sidewalk elsewhere. Overall, very good!
The food was excellent; the service was outstanding; the prices were very reasonable; and the restaurant was comfortable, well decorated and clean.
THe food was amazing. From the oysters to the Ceres salad the starters are delicious and presented well. I had the Grilled Swordfish. It had to be the best swordfish I have had at a resturant. It is often hard to get swordfish cooked, but not dry. This swordfish was juicy with vivacious flavor. I ended the night with the tropical desert which was unique and just as outstanding as the other courses. My friends and boyfriend all stated the same about the experience. Excellent find!!! Super resturant.
Ecellent food and worth the drive and price versus same old spots on Shrewsbury St
martinis are ridiculously small , sent it back because of the size and the mgr. came back to try to justify it- unbelievable! take it away! very disappointed at the menu - very limited , i was looking forward to the small plates we had previously enjoyed-gone ! food was not very inspiring -revel in what harvest ? as the menu dictates . seems like the niche hospitality group has gone from the premises- big loss . the waitstaff was in such a hurry but needs more training- they tried . too many other good restaurants in worcester to go to at these prices , overall , we were very disappointed at the experience ! the place has a lot of ambience but the food is lacking
Unlike our other experiences at Ceres, our waitress was not gracious or friendly. As a matter of fact, she seemed rather crumpy!
We had a great dinner and awesome service thanks
The menu and food are really good. The level of care provided by the wait staff needs to improve. Actually, the waiter Saturday night was great. My comments are more directed at a waitress from a dinner on a Friday night before attending the theater. We were seated at a table that was set but had not been cleaned after the previous party; our time line was on target when the dessert menus were delivered at 7:05, but she did not return to the table until 7:25 to take the order (had spent 15 minutes talking with guests at another table). More attention to detail needs to be paid.
I have written at least 4 reviews for Ceres and they were all super positive until this one. We had been going to Ceres about every third weekend for months because we loved the menu and the atmosphere. We were willing to overlook the glitches in the service because everything else was so good. Unfortunately it seems they have permanently reduced the menu and stopped serving the 1/2 plates. The 1/2 plate option was the primary draw to the restaurant for us as was the great variety of meals (large and small) and appetizers. We went on Saturday night and were very disappointed in the menu change (we went in Dec/Jan and thought the 1/2 plate omission was just temporary during the holiday season). We just hope the 1/2 plates come back...
We had a fabulous meal! We started off with the calamari and the flavors were delicious. I had the Asian Braised Short Rib and my husband had a veal special....both were very good. I would definitely return as the food was entirely memorable.
Dining at Ceres was a great way to enjoy an evening with friends. We had a relaxing experience, receiving a tempting meal at the same time.
I think this restaurant has a combination of the above qualities that makes it what people are looking for. It's a beautiful place with a great atmosphere.
The short ribs were delicious but not hot enough. The swordfish wasn't particularly large. The chocolate dessert plate was nicely presented but at $15 the server should've told us the price first. The bill here really adds up and I think there are better restaurants nearby that I would rather spend $100 at. It was very empty on a Friday night as well so maybe other people are thinking the same. Also, you don't really need the a/c on in winter - I was freezing.
Beautiful decor the food and service was excellent. The only gripe is that there were several kids located behind us who's parents thought this was the kind of resturant they could runaround and talk loud in...I would love to see a a no-kids zone to enjoy our meal. Outdoor furniture is just getting set up looks like a great place for lunch or an early evening meal and drink setting.
The food was wonderful; our server, Diego, was superb; the atmosphere was none of the above; bland, colorless and noisy.
Loved the restaurant's ambiance. Unfortunately, the food was very average. Started out with the mussels which turned out to be sandy. My main course of haddock was good but the portion was tiny.
A very good experience - no negatives! They accept reservations for small parties (4). Service was outstanding, food was exceptionally good. It was moderately busy but noise level was such that you could actually carry on a conversation! The bar areas was a little to brightly lit - prefer a softer lighting, but overall, no complaints. Definitely would go back again.
A notch above the rest! Just terrific!
thanks for a great meal--waiter endri was superb.
Love the ambiance and fantastic food. Excellent service as well.
I dined during restaurant week on a Tuesday nite, choosing from 6 options on a price fixe menu. The food did not wow me and seating was the middle of the dining room which was noisy. I was expecting much more. However, I will give it another chance trying the regular menu and and the bar for happy hour. The bar was full for a Tuesday nite.
Nice ambiance but very very noisy. Could not hear each others conversations. Food was acceptable but not exceptional. Went during Restaurant Week and even so, a little on the pricey side once you add in drinks.
The food is excellent. Waiting for the waitress coming to serve is long eventhough the restaurant is half full.
This was our first visit to this restaurant, and won't be the last. We were there during "restaurant week" - and each of us found our choices to be excellent. Our wsitress was very efficient and added to the enjoyment of the food.
Relative the to experience the restaurant is attempting to create, service was the weakest aspect of our evening. The receptionist was cold and uninviting and while our waiter was friendly his delivery of watter, our drink order, and the bread and oil plate were all late. So much so that we received our bread just as our apitizers were being served (it is worth noting that the restaurant supplies a seperate server from the waiter requiring more coordination on the staff's part).
I thought the food was quite good, perhaps the best in the worcester area I have had and the overall atomosphere was relaxed and enjoyable in an upscale setting.
After a less pleasant experience soon after the restaurant opened, I decided to give Ceres Bistro a second try. It was "Restaurant Week" in Worcester and we tried the specials. They were superb. Portions were small, but because the specials were all three course meals, we did not leave hungry. Everything was done to perfection and our server was outstanding. An added touch: they had a number of wines (by the bottle) that were also on special for the occasion. We each had a different special. We also ordered a bottle of wine and each had coffee. Bill for two, including tax and tip, came to less than $100.00.
The lamb was as good as I've ever had. Done exactly as requested.
The butternut squash risotto and pumpkin bread pudding were outstanding.
Our server, Kathy, was attentive, efficient and personable.
This was a great dining experience. We have been several times before, and every time we have been it has been great. The food was excellent and the service was on point. Three out of the 4 in our party chose the 3 course Restaurant week option and I chose a la cart off the menu. Everyone raved about their dishes from the first course to the entrees to the dessert. The place was pretty busy on a Friday night but the service did not suffer. Well done!
We have been to Ceres at least 8 times in the last three months-- we love it! It's great with friends, with the kids or alone. They didn't have the half plate options this time for the first time. We HOPE that's just because it was restaurant week. Having 1/2 plates for so many of the entrees was one of the things we (and all our friends) love about the restaurant. The food preparation is always great-- very imaginative! You won't be disappointed.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Ceres Bistro. The service was superb, the food delicious and beautifully presented. The decor is clean and modern but, at the same time, warm and comfortable.
