Cenzino Ratings and Reviews
Cenzino's menu offers a nice variety and twists that allow you to avoid the standard fare. More importantly, all the dishes we ordered were executed extremely well. Service was prompt even on a busy Saturday evening. Our order for decaf coffee, which trips up many a lazy restaurant, was served hot and fresh.
All the hard surfaces of the surrounding décor create a somewhat noisy atmosphere, even though the seating is well spaced. The chairs are also very comfortable. A very enjoyable evening and we highly recommend the restaurant.
Local and TERRIFIC! We dined at Cenzino the other night. Having moved from Ridewood to Mahwah a few years ago, we are always looking for local restaurants . Quite simply , Cenzino is terrific. I had dined there many many years ago -- old style Italian, both in decor and menu. Now, a complete transformation: modern, comfortable interior, excellent (though somewhat small) menu, and wonderful service. We were visited by Regina, the maitre d' at lease twice to get to know us. She was quite excited that one of the diners that night was Drew Nieporent's brother from his well known NY restaurant group. Cenzino had just scored a major coup by getting Chris Gesualdi as their Chef -- he had been at Montrachet. The food was great --- we shared an appie, then got 2 great pastas ; a seafood spaghetti, and a veal tortelloni. Both were perfectly prepared (maybe needed a little salt), and were quite satisfying a flavorful.. We are thrilled to be able to have such a wonderful place so very close to us -- we will return and will recommend to our friends!!
Food was very good but bad bar. They use very thin ice which melts almost instantly leaving your drink very watered down before you have the first sip. If you like your cocktails on the rocks you better order over proofed brands to get a drink that doesn't taste like water. For $14 a drink you should get a cocktail that drinkable. A good bar tender should know better. So I can't say much for the bar tender that I had.
Nice place - good ambiance- very friendly and attentive service. We went out on a date night and was looking for something a little upscale with moderate pricing(in my opinion thinking a dinner for 2 about $75 per person) and good food. When we got the bill I was a little disappointed that what we paid really didn't match the food. But if money is not an issue, I would say its a solid place . I'm Just sayin...
It's never good when you lose a good friend. My wife and I have eaten st Cenzino's over 500 times in10 years. This beautiful restaurant has a superb staff that we call friends. Jen, the bartender, can make you laugh on your worst day and Rob. Benny, Ron and Diego care about the customer's satisfaction at a unique level. Unfortunately, the quality of Cenzino's product, the food, lacks creativity, is served instead if "presented" ,and now is accompanied by uncooked vegetables and skimpy portions
I will return, to see my friends, but less often unfortunately. The quality of food no longer justifies the price for me. The fix is easy. No gimmicks. Just get back to what a beautiful restaurant, with a superb staff should do...serve the best meals at a reasonable price. Make more friends! I hope they do.
The food at this restaurant is classic and outstanding Italian. The service is very good and the owner Regina, is extremely attentive and gracious. I would recommend it to anyone. The bar area and the "newer" room are a bit noisy.
I am taking the time to write this because I genuinely enjoy Cenzino. we did have to wait for about an hour for our table which we had reservation for so that was disappointing. The only benefit from that was that we ate so late that people had already left and the noise level was less. I am an interior decorator and HIGHLY recommend they research sound absorption panels. I can provide them but this response does not come with the intent of increasing my business. We could hardly hear the people we were with who actually complained about the noise as well. On that note I will say that more than likely I would return with my husband only or ask for a very early time slot. If you would like further information on how to help decrease the sound please call me at 2012801883.
Cenzino, although very pretty due to a modern stylized renovation, certainly has a lot to be desired on the food side of things. The 2 seafood dishes were overcooked and somewhat bland. They ran out of at least 2 of the specials my table would have ordered....and this was at 8pm(hardly late!!)
The wait staff was inattentive...waiter apologized, but still not acceptable at the prices Cenzino charges.
Overall, a disappointment and everyone at my table will not be dining there in the near future again.
For New Years eve we were seated at our reservation time and greeted at our table by Regina the owner who was lovely. Even though we made the reservation a week in advance their was no way to see the prix fix menu before hand so our choices were limited. There was also no mention of price at any time. The dinner was fine and they messed up the order of courses so the flow was interrupted but it was good. I would probably go back on a non specific night.
Went here for New Year's Eve based on a friend's recommendation and thought the food was excellent. The staff was great, the ambience was chic and the food was amazing– even though it was a set menu. They had more than enough to choose from and the wine list was extensive . The only thing I would say was that it was a little pricey, but it was for 5 courses. Overall it was well worth and will return!
my family took my mom for her birthday and we were treated like long-time customers/friends - everybody was so friendly and accommodating. We ordered wine, appetizers, entrees - and everything was fantastic. This was only my and my mom's second time here. It was my husband, my niece, and her fiance's first time, but I think they'll definitely be back. A little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it!
What a let down for Christmas Eve. After several good experiences at this restaurant, they didn't live up to our expectations on our last visit. I often remark how a restaurant can be so ignorant of the fact that you are there to review them afterwards and that they should make every effort to make sure all is perfect. Sorry to say that it seems the waiting times and quality of food goes down hill when the place is packed for a holiday. To start, we had a calamari dish which was under cooked and gummy. We trashed three quarters of the dish it was so bad. Bread wasn't served until we reminded the wait staff about it, and then... it came stale. Vegetables on the main dishes were not fully done and were a little too stiff to my liking. Thankfully the wait staff was hustling that night and did a pretty good job despite the heavy crowd. My wife says no more holiday dinners at Cenzino's. It ruined our opinion of them. Sorry.
Can't say enough good things. This was a spur of the moment Friday night out......we were concerned about getting in since we were making our Open Table reservation only 45 minutes before the time we would be arriving. When we got there we were promptly seated although they were extremely busy. The host/owner was gracious and checked on us several times. The food was cooked perfectly and delicious. The best part of our evening was our server. Although relatively new to the business he was outstanding, I thought he was at lest a 20 year veteran to the service industry......checked on us often, made great recommendations, always smiled and joked a bit.....as hard as he was working I think he had a better time than we did! My wife and I had just had very difficult days.....this dinner was a great end to the evening and we left happy, full and smiling! I highly recommend their lamb dishes, sea food perfect and the Bourbon Bread Pudding is a must have!
We had been here before and returned based on our prior experiences. Once again we were very pleased. We meet friends here and find that we get a great meal and are able to linger and spend time with our friends. We are never rushed and it has always been a very pleasant experience.
