What Insiders Are Saying
Centrolina is an Italian spot in CityCenter. It’s grownup, but the space is bright and the vibes aren’t stuffy.
Good food and great service
Went for dinner during restaurant week. Arrived 15 minutes late for 9:15 table due to traffic, ,(should have called, yes) and no record of reservation upon arrival. Seated anyway. Delay in service initiation but once started was very good. Ordered from 3 course restaurant week menu, was guided towards a kale ravioli puff when I expressed an interest in fresh tomato salad. Then upsold a half-portion of gnocchi with tomato sauce, which made me think later, did they run out of tomato salad? Kale ravioli puffs were excellent. Gnocchi well made but served in tomato sauce that instantly brought back memories of Chef Boyardee. Not a good thing for 14 dollars extra. Entree was 2 perfectly seared delicious scallops surrounded by forgettable corn and mushroom mess. Wine selection very good and reasonably priced for DC. Dessert of chocolate mousse with hazelnut adequate but not memorable.
This was my second foray into Restaurant Week in DC, and I have to admit I have been disappointed both times. The first at Jose Andres Zaytinya was very urgent and rushed. The second at this restaurant seemed to be more about promoting products available at the adjacent market and up selling from the 35 dollar restaurant week menu.
Wonderful food! Fresh and beautifully prepared!
Yes it is restaurant week so I make accommodations. However it was a special occasion but the duck leg was dry and overcooked.
The scallop selection though tasty the scallops were tough had to be cut with a knife Everything else very good What made the evening outstanding was our waitress Bridget
The small room was quiet except when the door was left open by the various servers and helpers going in and out Noise is not shut out unless the door is completely closed
Delicious food and great service. My friend and I were first seated in a very noisy area. I spoke to the front desk about it and she was gracious in moving us to a back room that allowed us to talk to each other without yelling! It was a pleasure and I am very grateful to this staff person. I will definitely return to this wonderful restaurant but only if it is in that back room.
The food was inventive and delicious. Service was outstanding. However, it is SO NOISY that I won't go again without being able to sit on the patio. That's where we were, but there are only about 10 seats. And what about in the winter? It's a shame.
Food divine. The BEST DESSERTS in Washington. We ate on the pedestrian walkway, it was quiet and great to be outside and bugless.
Called to confirm restaurant week and when I arrived it was only for dinner . I had called the restaurant to confirm so was upset at this . I emailed the restaurant to let them know they should make sure their staff have and provide correct information and never heard back . Based on this type of lack of customer service I would not go back although the food was good .
Food was OK. Pasta was awesome, wine as fantastic, fish was overcooked. I would have sent it back, but I didn't want to spend another minute in this place due to the noise. My god, I've never heard such a cacophony. I'm a relatively young man and I like a lively restaurant, but this place really bothered (hurt) my ears and I literally had to yell to talk to my wife across the 2-top.
I loved the pasta and would love to come back, but until they fix this issue I won't.
Our seating was tucked away so seemed quieter than the rest of the restaurant. Very good value during restaurant week, and server was very attentive.
Centrolina always exceeds my expectations. The food was delicious, and our server (Edgar) was outstanding. He recommended a great bottle of wine and was diligent about checking on us without hovering. The gnocchi was especially good!
Some of the best pasta I’ve had, and outstanding service! Great job.
If you want a real Italian food experience i the right place.
In this restaurant the quality of the raw material is really enhanced
Wonderful food and service but SOOO LOUD. It was impossible to have a conversation.
Had the catch of the day thebSalmin was prepared perfectly and sat on a bed of perfectly prepared roasted vegetables. Highly recomended
This restaurant never disappoints! The food was delicious. The service was friendly but not instrusive of our conversation. I will return and recommend the restaurant to others. The friend whom I had lunch with said she planned to return the next day, taking her nephew, she said it was that good and fun.
The noise level in this restaurant was horrible. I’m in my 30s and can tolerate a noisy restaurant but this was an assault on our ear drums. We had to scream across the table just to be heard. Work on your acoustics Centrolina!
Centrolina is one of my favorite restaurants and I keep it on my regular dining rotation.
Overall fine experience. The waitress was terrific. The food was very good. The only small snag was it took about 20 minutes to get my dirty martini, long after my friend’s wine was served, because they apparently didn’t have any olives at the bar and had to retrieve them from the store room.
We dined early so it was relatively quiet - Noise certainly picked up by the time we left. Food was excellent. They were very accomodating as we wanted to share everything.
Excellent lunch with a friend. We shared the arucola salad and each of us had branzino as our main dish. The food is great, as is the service.
The squid ink pasta was pretty salty, more so than other comparable places. The prices are pretty expensive but that's what you get at City Center in DC.
The food as usual is excellent. I love this place
Centrolina is always solid. Great cocktails, great wine list. Hand made pasta is amazing. And the service is always top shelf.
The food and the service were excellent as usual...
Dinner was amazing as usual. The ravioli are like little bites of heaven! Food and service here is always amazing!
Bit of a rough start on being seated at a table that fit the request for a quiet spot, but the evening was more than saved by the, as always, great food, and the stellar service of Bridget, our server, who was attentive, accommodating and knowledgable. She really added to the pleasure of our experience.
Great for a special occasion! I made reservations for my parents on their 43rd anniversary and everyone at Centrolina made them feel welcome and special. My parents raved about the food, incredible service, and special touches to celebrate.
Lovely meal. Prompt service and food, not burdensome. Perfect for business meal.
Really cool place to dine!
I have recommended to other foodies from New Orleans and they coming.
Ate at the bar. The new salmon app is incredible. Miss the verde. Great service.
A first rate experience! Excellent appetizers and outstanding pasta for lunch. Highly recommended!
Excellent! Food and ambiance were truly good. Service excels as well. All around very high quality experience.
Terrific food, if pricey for fairly small portion sizes. Great service in terms of recommendations and friendliness. A couple minor hiccups, and delays, probably because we were outside. And we were outside, despite the heat, because it was very noisy inside. But good people watching outside. Overall, a place I would definitely return to.
The food was good but overpriced. It was so loud that we couldn’t hear our tablemates. I’m glad we tried it, but none of the 5 of us will go back
Excellent food but just too packed together and far too noisy for an enjoyable meal, especially at those prices.
What a lovely and refreshing end to a day hotter than Georgia asphalt. The food truly makes the ingredients SHINE. The pomodoro is what all tomatoes grow up hoping to be. I have never experienced such wonderful flavors with such simple ingredients. We also split the lamb bolognese fettuccine and it was divine. My favorite brut rosé was also on the menu, which I didn’t even know was available anymore. What a treat. We were pretty deflated from the day, and in shorts and T-shirt’s, but still treated with the upmost kindness and service. Thank you Centrolina, it was wonderful!
Great seasonal menu and great service!
