The market showcases a selection of imported Italian specialty items along with locally sourced meat, sustainable fish, and produce from local farms. The Centrolina kitchen produces daily hand crafted fresh pasta and sauces, antipasti and entrees available for takeaway. The Centrolina bakery offers a daily changing array of biscotti, crostata and cakes in addition to locally made bread from Bread Furst and a full service Barista bar featuring Vigilante coffee.
Dishes from the wood oven are delizioso! Fish perfectly cooked and paired well with broccoli rabe and tomatoes. Spaghetti quite rich, but very good.
Attentive server. Quite loud as very crowded — even the bar had no seats available. But not at all unpleasant. Pasta dishes always good especially gnocchi and squid ink. Good bourbon choices too.
The food at Centrolina is fabulous and the service is competent and polite. The problem is that the noise level is high enough to preclude enjoyment of the food. My companion and I left without dessert as our voices were sore after an hour of near shouting.
Octopus appetizer was tender and delicious. Tomato on crostini appetizer was perfection with ripe tomatoes and the bread absorbed the oil and tomato juices but stayed crusty on the edges. Yum. Had the branzino and it was perfectly prepared. An all-around wonderful meal. We got there early so it wasn't packed, but when we left the place was hopping and the bar was full. Great atmosphere. Will be back!
Scott and Rachel did a terrific job. Nice of the manager to come by and check in.
Food was fantastic as always. Verde salad followed by the chicken made for an outstanding dinner.
Great food. I don't feel comfortable there. Nothing about it is relaxing. It is noisy. The wait staff is a bit too eager to please. The water is filled a bit too often. Do people really enjoy eating and shouting at each other to be heard?
Food was ok. I have eaten there many times before and was not impressed with it this weekend. It was just ok. Wait staff was attentive but couldn’t hear well over the dining room noice level, thus seem aggressive. Service was slow.
Main issue was the noise level. We had to shout to communicate with our friends. The food did not compensate for the environment.
We left thinking we will not go back for a long time if ever.
It was amazing! Definitely a place to mingle and enjoy great food!!
Fabulous pasta. Too noisy for my taste if you're sitting at a table. Bar is best.
The food and service were terrific. Ingredients were fresh and the fish was wonderful--cooked and seasoned perfectly. We would definitely go back.
Best meal ever!!!
Great service and excellent food
Quality food & service!
Amazing as always. I love that the menu is different every day because there are different ingredients available every single day.
Best meal in ages. Very loud restaurant but food is worth it,
Always great food and service! The menu though not extensive is always unique and the quality always outstanding!
How does it keep getting better? It’s a 5 star on whatever scale of exceptional you want to have. The staff and the extraordinary chef make Centrolina what it is.
Food and service were outstanding, making the experience overall really good!
The only reason why I’d give it 4 instead of 5 stars are the restaurant’s prices; I did find all of their prices (food+alcohol), although not scandalous, slightly expensive.
Nevertheless, it is [indeed] located in a very nice and transited (both by tourists and locals) area, which may explain that, as it does for many other restaurants in town.
Worth the visit for a special occasion!
What a great experience we had on our first trip to Centrolina - the food and service were amazing!!
We started with the Chef's Negroni and their spin on a French 75 (can't remember the name) - both drinks were great.
Started the dinner with a Nicoise salad (for me) and an Heirloom tomato salad (for my wife) - both were magnificent. Full of flavor - fresh herbs - and dressed to perfection. The heirloom salad was served on delicious crusty bread - and I can honestly say this was the first time I have ever used bread to wipe a salad bowl clean!
For entrees we had short rib parpardelle (for me) and paccheri with white bolognese sauce (for my wife) - both were fantastic, the white bolognese was our favorite. The veal and beef were cooked in a milk sauce instead of a heavy cream so the sauce was light and not too rich. The pasta was cooked to perfection in both dishes.
We'll definitely be back on our next trip to DC - looking forward to the ever changing menu and what new dishes we'll get to try!
Excellent pasta, so-so atmosphere, inconsistent service
Great menu options; everything is cooked fresh to order and changes often. Our server took great care of us and made sure we felt welcomed during our visit. I would definitely return to this location in the future.
Extraordinary lunch. Perfect setting. Bursts and cherries as first course was an excellent choice. Followed with Taglioni pasta with sunny side up egg. And creamy with parmigiana.
Have never been disappointed here - it’s my favorite restaurant in DC !
The meal was delicious but the dessert (blueberry upside down cake) left a lot to be desired—it was basically an $11 blueberry muffin. Otherwise, amazing. The sage ravioli was phenomenal and the restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. Will go back again for a meal at the bar.
This experience was not my first at Centrolina nor will it be my last. As always, the food was amazing, the staff was wonderful and very attentive. It is a restaurant you could take anyone to; dates, family, friends, etc and would suit any occasion. I had a wonderful night with my roommate, the food was amazing, it being her first time at Centrolina she was absolutely blown away. It is a bit on the pricier side, however, I would highly recommend to anyone.
One of the best dinners I've had in a long time. Excellent, well-prepared Italian food. We shared an outstanding spaghetti with crisp oysters and sea urchin. Such an exquisite balance of flavors. Also shared a grilled branzino with fresh rosemary. So tender it almost melted in the mouth. Can't wait to try another meal at Centrolina!
The food was amazing. Only issue was asked for straw and waiter used hand. He did get s new one after I asked.
The pici and the stracci were wonderful! Centrolina never disappoints with their pastas!
FOOD The creative spin on traditional Italian dishes was intriguing. However, it was underwhelming for the amount charged. The pasta was excellent. However the fried oysters on top of the pasta was a disconnect and discordant. The grilled fish medley was good but not more. The grilled vegetables were unsatisfactorily seasoned.
AMBIANCE the outdoor seating was outstanding. It was quiet and delightful. The service was equally outstanding.
We had a wonderful dinner at Centrolina. We started with the soft shell crab which was delicious and accompanied by some healthy green beans and snap peas. Then, we each had a fish entree. They were both awesome! We also had a bottle of white wine which was a great value.
I’d highly recommend!
The food is very good but a little overpriced for the portion size. I had a lovely piece of Salmon that came with a smattering of veggies and no starch
A bit of rice and a few more vegetables would have made for a more satisfying meal.
Waitress was overwhelmed and lied about how much wine was left in the bottle she was serving from.
Simply fantastic as always.
Food was great as always. The service fantastic. The location at City Center is very good.
Last min. dinner. We had a very sweet waitress and a lovely dinner.
Will go back for sure. Great food and very pleasant experience
Good food and great service
Everything was superb! The pasta, fish, bread, drinks -alcoholic and non alcoholic - and desserts -the gelato is unbelievably scrumptious. The server, Arty (spelling?), was wonderful and I'd would want again when I return. All of us - and some are finicky eaters- enjoyed our meals immensely and can't wait to return.
Went for dinner during restaurant week. Arrived 15 minutes late for 9:15 table due to traffic, ,(should have called, yes) and no record of reservation upon arrival. Seated anyway. Delay in service initiation but once started was very good. Ordered from 3 course restaurant week menu, was guided towards a kale ravioli puff when I expressed an interest in fresh tomato salad. Then upsold a half-portion of gnocchi with tomato sauce, which made me think later, did they run out of tomato salad? Kale ravioli puffs were excellent. Gnocchi well made but served in tomato sauce that instantly brought back memories of Chef Boyardee. Not a good thing for 14 dollars extra. Entree was 2 perfectly seared delicious scallops surrounded by forgettable corn and mushroom mess. Wine selection very good and reasonably priced for DC. Dessert of chocolate mousse with hazelnut adequate but not memorable.
This was my second foray into Restaurant Week in DC, and I have to admit I have been disappointed both times. The first at Jose Andres Zaytinya was very urgent and rushed. The second at this restaurant seemed to be more about promoting products available at the adjacent market and up selling from the 35 dollar restaurant week menu.
Wonderful food! Fresh and beautifully prepared!
Yes it is restaurant week so I make accommodations. However it was a special occasion but the duck leg was dry and overcooked.
The scallop selection though tasty the scallops were tough had to be cut with a knife Everything else very good What made the evening outstanding was our waitress Bridget
The small room was quiet except when the door was left open by the various servers and helpers going in and out Noise is not shut out unless the door is completely closed
