Centro is the best restaurant in town, hands down. Great for lunch, brunch or dinner.
First time here and very delicious! A little on the spendy side though. Overall great experience. Service was quick.
Had great service, and the food was ready in a timely fashion. All our meals were cooked perfectly.
Great food and service service as always!! You can’t go wrong with any of the menu items but the pizza is delicious!
Always great food and service!
Delicious appetizers. In fact we filled up on appetizers and instead of getting the pasta I love, I could only handle a salad and grilled cheese sandwich!
Our fish dish, a special, was way over cooked. I thought the prices were a little on the high side. The wine choices were excellent and our server did a good job.
We have been going to Centro lately on Mondays for the Happy hour and pizza specials and it is Fabulous. We usually sit in the bar and the staff there is great. They are very friendly and help if you ask for suggestions. The salads are great! The Pizza is Fabulous EVERY TIME! We Love going to Centro! Check it out, its a great time and sitting in the bar you can watch all the activity going on outside.
Was a little disappointed in the lack of herbs and spices in the food. I want to have that wow moment in my mouth so I can brag on the dining cuisine I had with my friends. Service was Great! We loved how Benjamin took care of us and a few others. Great atmosphere. If was worth the drive from Oskaloosa for our 1st Anniversary.
Food was good, asked them in the request box to have a rose on the table for our anniversary, it did not happen. Was a little disappointed.
Amazing food and great service! Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Great venue......wonderful ambiance! It was a first date and a perfect choice!
The tomato basil soup with tortellini is to die for! Salads and pizza are great too!
Always good food and good service at Centro. Very reliable
Outstanding as always! The food and service was fantastic!!! Kim did a wonderful job taking care of us for this special occasion!!!
This was our second time here. The first time the service was great but the atmosphere was not so much. This time, both were lacking. It took our waiter a while to get to us which was understandable with the amount of people there. The food was great but the service wasn't as much.
Bloody Mary bar: If I'm paying for a drink, someone is going to make it! (which the waitress was happy to do) Ambiance: Very nice for an Easter brunch with the family. Before addressing the food let me say I've eaten dinner at Centro several times with nothing but the very best experiences. Opted for the Crab Benedict. While a tad cold, I could tell it would have been a good dish if the construction (i.e. piled on top of the crab cake) was more ingenious and the presentation better planned. WORST of all, the accompanying potatoes had absolutely no business coming out of a classy kitchen such as Centro's. Dry, flavorless ..... almost an afterthought. Very poor. After meal coffee was top drawer though. In passing, my daughters' s split a breakfast pizza about which they raved.
Excellent service. Waiter was one of the best I've had in the country. Food was delicious. Just a bit on the pricey side but not out of line with very good restaurants. Glad to see Des Moines has something like this to offer.
We visited Centro for the first time before catching a show at Hoyt Sherman. The waitress that assisted us was patient, friendly, and helpful. Her recommendations on the Centro crab cakes and pancetta-wrapped shrimp didn't disappoint. I think the shrimp were my favorite part of the meal.
My cocktail, starburst or star rise or something along those lines, didn't have as prominent of a blackberry flavor as I was expecting. It was fine but a little pricey at a $10 price point. Our pasta dishes, chicken and prosciutto and spice sausage rigatoni, were also both satisfying , though nothing exceptionally noteworthy from a taste perspective. The portions were very large, but I was expecting a bit more oomph in the flavor department at a $30 price point.
Our total bill for two appetizers to share, two pasta entrées and two mixed drinks came in at $95 pre-tip.
It should also be noted that the space is very loud if you're seated in the middle of the room. We didn't need to shout across the table to hear each other, but it was disarmingly loud when you're first seated. It's also easy to lose the thread of your conversation as diners around you order and converse. If you're looking for a more intimate dinner experience, I would recommend requesting a booth in your reservation.
All in all, Centro is a restaurant I would recommend to my friends and family that are looking for an upscale atmosphere for a special occasion out. The food is a little more familiar and approachable than what a true foodie is in search of in a meal at this price point.
Server was awesome food was great!
Fabulous place...service was wonderful and food was excellent. Centro is a must-do restaurant when visiting Des Moines!
Loved it food was as delicious
Awesome chicken and shrimp pasta. Great service. Comfortable atmosphere.
The food was amazing and our waitress was great! Definitely recommend it !
Great food and ambiance for a special occasion dinner. Waitress was not very personable or friendly though, and in the past we've had great waitstaff, so disappointed in the service.
My husband ordered the 1/2 chicken and it was the size of a Cornish hen. Very misleading and way over priced for what he got. He said it tasted very good though.
I ordered the Chicken Francese. The portions were great and would have liked more Alfredo pasta. It was delicious. My entrée was cheaper than my husbands.
The onion rings are great!
My husband asked for 2 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream and was served with a beautiful dish topped with strawberries and whip cream with strawberry sauce. Very very nice.
It was a bit noisy for us.
The staff was very friendly. Our waiter was very attentive. There were plenty of wonderful choices on the menu. The brunch was very good and the price was very reasonable. My friend and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I was glad that the noise level was low enough for my friend and I to visit easily. I will come back again.
Elizabeth was our server and she was amazing. The best we’ve had in awhile. She made our experience.
Great food as always! Even witnessed a proposal!! 💍
Absolutely loved this place! Glad I chose it to do my proposal. Everyone was friendly and the food was spot on! Keep it up :)
Service was excellent. I had the bass which was the seafood special. It was okay. Wished I would have gotten the cavetlli instead.
Everything was excellent!
Food was good, but not sure why Pasta & Pizza required a 45 minute cooking time.
Centro is consistently great. Food, service and atmosphere are terrific. Centro continues to be my favorite Des Moines restaurant.
Only complaint if any would be that it is so loud. Great food and service though.
One of my favorite restaurants, always good service and food!
We started in the bar for Happy Hour (Rain Water Martini is a must!) and ended with dinner in the dining room. The staff was extremely accommodating, the service was stellar and the food was delectable. Our party of six, including one vegan and one vegetarian, was very pleased with the entire experience!
Always a wonderful dinner, service, and experience. Closest thing to NYC in Des Moines.
Great experience, as always! Manager was amazing - we forgot the measuring syringe for our teething one-year-old, and she got us a measuring spoon from the kitchen. We also brought a large group, visitors from out of town, and the server was so gracious and patient during the busy lunch hour. Love, love Centro!
Centros has been one of our favorite restaurants for a long time. We love the homemade pastas, the breads, the (almost every one of them) delicious menu items. Always a fun place to be. Always great staff. Always great food!
