Centro Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food was AMAZING but service was lacking some. It was the middle of lunch rush so a small wait for the waitress to come back is understandable but I sat with an empty plate in front of me for at least 10 minutes and then had to ask for a dessert menu instead of it being offered. Also the sauce I requested on the side did not come that way but the delivering employee was more then happy to get it fixed. Our waitress was never even aware of the issue when she returned to the table.
Our first time here. DId not like the I-pad drink list. Service was good. Started with the pancetta wrapped shrimp, tomato basil soup and centro salad. Soup was very good as that is what a lot of people reccomend. Our main entrees were the wood fired salmon with broccolini and fingerling potatoes and the two bone pork chop with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. We were told that the pork chop was cooked to medium as standard but ours came out more medium rare but that was ok. Both entrees were very good. Dessert was the budino; a pistachio pudding. We will be back as there were more things that we would love to try. This could be our new place to try. Our bill before tip was around $120.
Everything was wonderful as usual except for a hiccup in service by the waitress. Upon arrival I asked about the martini special that ended at six. Our waitress said she would see if it was still applicable, stating that it was dependent on the time showing at the register. So rather than take our order and check, she stopped at two tables on her way to the bar. When she returned it was 6:00 and she stated that the offer window had passed. Ok.
I had the lamb pasta that included some of the widest flat noodles I’ve ever had and it was delicious. My date had the two medallions of beef and it was equally good. We finished up with the flourless cake that was truly decadent.
All in all another wonderful experience at Centro!
The overall experience that we had was amazing! The food was great and our waitress was so pleasant. The only thing that I was not impressed with was the family sitting next to us. With the vibe the restaurant gives, this isn't really the place for kids. The obnoxious noises is the only thing I have a complaint about! We will definitley visit again!
Very disappointing. The home made cavatelli was almost raw. It was swimming is a greasy bland sauce. I specifically asked if the coffee was fresh before ordering. It arrived room temperature. The restaurant space is beautifully decorated and very spacious. It's a shame.
We went to Centro Friday 12/1 for our anniversary. We decided to choose a restaurant that we both hadn’t been to before. We were impressed by the menu online and decided to give it a shot. We arrived early for our reservation and were sat right away (definitely weren’t expecting to be sat so soon since we knew we were almost a half hour early). Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was amazing (can we talk about how good the free bread is?!) and our waitress gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary which topped off an already awesome experience. 10/10 would recommend! We will definitely be coming back! (:
We were a party of 4 women, 2 of whom had never been to Centro. Everyone enjoyed the short time we chose to spend in the bar before our dinner reservation . Busy and friendly servers at reception desk, bar and restaurant. Just the right amount of attention and service from everyone. Food was great after a day of shopping and pre theater. Absolutely will be back again.
Centro hosted my 30th Birthday Dinner. Was the first recommendation from all family and friends in the Des Moines area and it didn't disappoint. Would go back for any occasion when I can get a reservation! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating an event or just a nice night out.
Upon arrival you are pleasantly greeted and our reservations were easily made. It is like walking into a charming neighborhood place. We were promptly greeted by our server and received excellent friendly service. The appetizers and main entrees were wonderful, while I just had to have the sausage and rigatoni dish we will go back so I can have the steak. The menu has a great variety and is well put together. The iced tea my wife said was fresh and tasty.
We went to Centro to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and believe we have find our new traditional dining place. Thank you for making me look like a hero to my wife.
What a fantastic start to our evening. We stopped by before the Symphony on a Saturday night, and we're seated promptly at a great table in the center of the restaurant. Our server Kristi was the perfect balance of helpful, attentive, and not over bearing. Her menu knowledge was impressive and she guided us through the specials menu like a pro. Thank you Centro and Kristi for a great Evening!
The dining experience was fantastic. We hosted our nephew and his friend to help us celebrate our anniversary and we had a appetizer, bottle of wine, our main entrees and deserts. All prepared to high standard and presentation. We spent a long time visiting and eating with everyone feeling very satisfied when it was time to leave.
I have a group of friends that like to eat at Centro's before a performance at the Civic Center. We have always enjoyed the food but this past Saturday, Nov. 4, 12:30 pm, one of my friends was not happy with her salad. I'm not sure what she had. The rest of us were very happy with our meals. That's the first time that has happened. Our service was very good because we told her we were going to the performance and she was very quick with her service and accommodated our requests. We really appreciated her service.
This is a favorite for special occasions (private and business). The food is always great and recommend making reservations as it's always very busy. I know the ambiance calls for dimmed lighting, but it's difficult to read the menu - a little too dark. Not the most intimate because it's very busy and gets noisy quickly - seating not conducive for romantic meals. Great staff and fairly quick service.
