Made a reservation for two on a Friday night, paid for meter parking down the street only to find that the restaurant was closed. No signs, google said it was opened and so did open table.
The restaurant was closed!
Love their salads and pizza. Entrees are also terrific. We’ll be back!
While I was able to book the reservation for 7/3 at 7:30PM, Centro was closed for the day. No sign on the door though. There was another couple standing out front who also booked through OpenTable. Luckily we were able to walk into a nearby restaurant and seated. After dinner I checked on Centro’s website and Facebook and didn’t see anything indicating they were closed for the day. Not the biggest deal for me since I live within a few miles. But I could see where this might of been an issue for someone else.
Our server was very nice and attentive, for that reason alone is why I gave 3 starts. However, our food just wasn't good. I got a pasta special which had a funny flavor and my date got a steak which was very fatty and lacked flavor. I'm not one to complain about food at a restaurant, so I figured I would give my honest feedback on here. I did read not so great reviews online for this place before we came, but I am always try-it-myself kind of girl, so we went to Centro anyway. The place was dead at 6:30pm Saturday night....maybe I now know why...
My husband and I chose this restaurant because it has a cheese b0ard on the menu. When we ordered, it turns out they ran out of cheese. How does an Italia restaurant run out of cheese? We also overheard the table next to us 0rder something and the server said they were out of whatever they ordered as well.
The food is terrible. My daughter had marinara, and it was awful. My son had pizza that was greasy and overloaded with salt. My other daughter had fettucini, and it tasted like melted butter. My husband had crab ravioli, and it was also just salty butter sauce and tasted like frozen ravioli. I had grilled shrimp, too salty, very bland polenta cake. Overall it was a terrible, overpriced meal. I had eaten here twice before, with the previous owners, and enjoyed my meals. I will not be returning. Our service was very good.
We went to CENTO for my son’s graduation. Everything was good, although our meals took a long time to come out, and 1/2 the table got their food after the other half finished their meals. (Might have been a grad night glitch, as there were thousands of people downtown for the event on a Monday night.) But the servers were friendly, the food was really good and my sangria was delicious. We enjoyed the meal and restaurant and will be back, but maybe not on a big-event night downtown.
Very nice, comfy atmosphere and indoor / outdoor seating. But, over 2 visits the servers were too busy or not available and we could not get another drink order or more water at the table. Also, meal (ravioli) and pizza was a bit overcooked. But these things can be fixed - would love to go back and see an improvement.
We dined outside which was lovely, and the food was fine, it’s just that we ordered duck confit gnocchi but what was brought to us was obviously chicken. It tasted fine, and decided not to make a big deal of it because we were with two other couples. Probably wouldn’t return.
The food was excellent and look amazing. Our server Michael was more than hopeful and extremely polite.Highly recommended!
Service was extremely slow. We waited forever for them to take our order. When food arrived, one of the meals was completely wrong. They apologized and corrected it but didn’t offer to take anything off the bill. Won’t be going back anytime soon. Not impressed.
Love this place. Wait staff is great. Food is excellent. Nice atmosphere!
This was my first time dining at CENTRO. Food, service, atmosphere and value was excellent. It did get a bit difficult to converse near the end of our dinner (8:00pm) due to extremely loud conversation next to our table. Overall more than met my expectation.
Definitely will go back
Service was awful. Started with a painfully long delay of a simple drink order and continued through an extended delay of our meals. When food finally arrived it was for three of the five of us. We waited patiently for the others to be served their pizzas while our food cooled. Our waiter was largely absent and it didn’t get any better once I spoke to the manager. The party next to us arrived 20 minutes after us and had completed their meal by the time our first three entrees arrived. I have never left a restaurant without paying or tipping but, on my second visit to the manager, I told him we were leaving without eating and without paying. I will not be back and I will not recommend.
Our server, Kaitlin, along with the food and atmosphere made for a perfect evening with family members who live in New England. They could not have been more impressed with everything. Kaitlin was knowledgeable about every aspect of the menu including the wine and beer. She had a great easy-going personality that made for a very enjoyable evening v Everything from the pizza to the dinner special which included polenta, shrimp, tomatoes, sausage, peppers and additional ingredients was outstanding. There may be better cheesecake but I’ve never had it. First rate all around.
Food was pretty good. Service was terrible. Don’t go with a group.
Service was good, appetizers were really good, and the pasta was a little disappointing. The sauce was watery because the pasta wasn’t drained fully and the sage brown butter sauce and Alfredo sauce hardly had any flavor. Wish we would have gotten the pizza because it looked amazing.
Excellent food and drinks. Great service.
The food is very good. The service is terrible. Not the first time we have gone and the waiter has been a complete jerk. They don't check up on you, don't refill beverages, they give attitude. It's like they have better things to do and they will take it out on you.
We had an early reservation and they were out of two entree items on the regular menu. They were also out of the cheese board appetizer. We were 0/3 and not impressed with our other options. We've always enjoyed our meals here but were so disappointed that I'll doubt we will return.
We have never had a problem before this visit. (But we have heard from a few friends that had and who say they will never go back) As matter of fact, we usually rave about the service, food, ambiance. This was not the Centro we love. We had a reservation for 7 people at 6pm. I called to let them know we were running about 15 minutes late. When we arrived the hostess seemed confused re our reservation. She went to check on our table and disappeared. I had to go find her. When I did finally find her I asked if the table set for 8, in the back of the rest was ours. We kept waiting for her to seat us. She finally did and then we waited... 20 minutes until someone acknowledged us, (At one point I went to try to find any staff person and could not. It was something out of the twilight zone) and that was only after we flagged down a waitress and asked if she was our server. She said no but she would ask for us. The server that waited on us was very pleasant. The server or the kitchen messed up my pizza but replaced it in about 12 minutes. The bartenders attempt at humor came across as too biting and bordering on sarcasm and that's not what we needed at that moment. He ignored some drink orders and gave lame excuses. We think he thought he was being funny, but not so much. The real kicker was it wasn't even busy; there we only 2 other tables outside and one other table inside. One of the people in our party is a food critic and was astonished that we had this experience saying from her knowledge "the owner runs a tight ship". Well, not this night. We wont be going back soon.
We cannot give an accurate review because we were not seated within 20 mins of being there. This would generally not be an issue, since when we were told it would be a few minutes we headed to the bar. In 20 minutes we could not even order a drink.
Staffing is a clear issue. Two bartenders for a 50ish foot bar within 2 blocks of a major concert that evening is horrible. The slips were printing nonstop from servers' orders and they didn't have a chance to keep up with that. Let alone the hoard of people in front of them. We went to the Hamilton instead and were pleased.
(I was forced to add a rating to the food in order to submit the review, although we didn't eat or drink anything at all.)
The service was terrible. The poor bartender and I mean poor bartender. There should have been 3 on staff that night. Which was an event night at the ppl center. You lost many customer that night
We decided to eat here after before a concert after reading reviews about how good it was and how the ratings recommended this restaurant. Well that was a huge mistake. Had 6:15 reservation and once we arrived the table was not ready and they said it would be 10-15 minutes. So we went to bar and ordered a drink which took 10 minutes. The bartender was horrible and totally stressed out and all we ordered was a water and a vodka on the rocks. Well that was the first sign.
We then decided to check on table since they didn't even get our name or give us a beeper to let us know if the table was ready. Still wasn't ready so we sat in lobby and waited. Once table was ready we placed an order for an appetizer and then a salad and pizza. The waitress seemed to disappear after order was placed. Our appetizer came out and we asked for napkins and silverware and the person who delivered our food gave us a cocktail napkin. Our main course never came out for 45 minutes and we ordered a second drink which took about 20 minutes to get. We asked for the manager and he was the most IGNORANT person ever. We told him that we never even got plates to eat the pizza on and we only received 1 cocktail napkin after we asked twice for a napkin. We also let him know that our drink order took over 20 minutes. At this point it was already 7:20 and we had a concert starting at 7:30. The manager said he would give us our drinks for free. We told him this was unacceptable, especially since we never got plates to eat from, never had napkins and had to wait almost a hour for a salad and pizza.
Well we got bill and he only took $20.00 off the bill and that did not even cover the cost of our drinks.
I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Poor service, poor management and totally unprepared for knowing there was a huge concert in town (Bon Jovi). Food was only average but with nasty attitudes by everyone in the restaurant it made everything look bad.
Watch out for this place.
I brought a client to dinner there before an event at PP&L - there were 4 of us. Because it was a popular event, they were very busy and it did not seem like they knew how to handle a spike in business. I would think that they would be aware of the event at the PP&L Center and prepare themselves accordingly. We received no water and it took about 20 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them and then another 25/30 minutes to get our appetizers and entrees - which all came out within 5 minutes of each other in an unusual manner - 1 app, then 2 apps and 2 entrees, then the other 2 entrees and then the 4th app. We were so hungry by then we really didn't care. The food was good but we had to eat fast to make the event. I am not sure I would return there or their other 2 restaurants in Easton.
Food and drinks were excellent. Volume of the music was a bit too loud to enjoy conversation.
Our entrees arrived before our appetizers and the server looked at us like we had three heads when we told her the first part of our order hadn’t arrived yet. Our entrees went back to the kitchen where they clearly sat under a heat lamp for an additional 30 min. When they arrived the pasta was completely dried out and the sauce was congealed to the plates. To top it all off our bill arrived with additional charges for food we never ordered.
Service needs some shake up & polish
All else good
Better selection of proseco & champagne would help
Food was fab
The service was horrible. I had reservations for 7:15 pm. We sat until 8:30 pm without any food bread or anything. Terrible service
Same as last time, we like the food, especially the Speziato Pizza, but service was terrible again
Service was extremely slow, waited over 45 minutes to get dinner and only brought 3 of the 4 dinners ordered. The last one came 15 minutes later when we had to leave. This was our third time to Centro and will be our last as in all cases the service was poor.
A very disappointing dining experience. It almost became a joke as we placed one order after another, only to be told later that the selection was not available (this was at 6pm on a Saturday). The place seemed very disorganized.
Food was good. Was not the waitress's best night. We have had her before and she's been better. Ordered beer but was not available. Things were annoying but not enough to not go back. Sat outside and it was very nice. Did put birthday celebration in open table reservation, but it was not acknowledged.
We go to Centro often, however, it appears that the wait staff has turned over and the service was less than average. The food was very good as always, however, lots of confusion with food delivery, out of "food items" on menu, long wait between seeing wait staff. Will most likely give it another try over the next 30 days, but if we get the same service will most likely begin going somewhere else.
Local spot, bar and table mix, a bit crowded... the service was slow, wait person blamed it on bus worker not showing up. Arrived out of order, about same time as drink.
Excellent service. The food was very good. A nice variety of beverages. It was good for dining before a hockey game. Short walk to the PPL Center.
Only negative was the coffees were just warm. However, they warmed them up and did not charge us for them.
We would go back.
From the time we arrived this place was a disaster. Even though we made a reservation, we were told our table was not ready. I asked the hostess isn't that why one makes a reservation, she responded that "lots of people make reservations" We were told it would be about 5 minutes and to wait at the bar. At the bar we dealt with a bartender with major attitude, not what you would expect in a bartender. 20 minutes later we still had not gotten a table even though there where tons of empty tables. I went back to the hostess stand to inquire about our table and the girl busy texting on her phone told me she was not the hostess. I asked her if she could find out, since we made a reservation. Someone else showed up to inform us that the our table had received a check 20 minutes ago and we just have to wait. After I returned to the bar we waited another ten minutes when one of our guests went back to the hostess stand to suggest maybe you can put 2 two tops together, which seemed like a good idea to the hostess!
Once we got seated we were greeted by our waitress who brought us water and then disappeared. 15 minutes went by when I asked another waitress if she could find ours. She offered to take our order. We were told that the kitchen was out of fettuccini, and after we placed our order our original waitress returned to tell us with major attitude that they were out of braised short ribs.
Our appetizers came relatively fast, but entrees took forever. One of us ordered the gnocchi with duck confit. It was an oily mess, there was no duck confit and no crispy duck skin. We even pointed this out to a manager, but nothing was done about it. My pork chop was cooked to temp, however I am not sure what was on top, they looked like craisins, the risotto resembled poi it was so overcooked. The only good thing was the pizza (stick to that and get rid of the rest of your menu)
We will not be back!
