LOVED the fried broccoli with my salmon! I'd never had that before and it was delicious. The mustard glaze on the salmon was excellent.
Had a nice lunch at central table- chicken salad sandwich as excellent as was the veggie pizza. Was a reasonable price and not busy at all at lunchtime on a Tuesday. The open atmosphere and location convenient to BJH are both pluses.
Expected much more from this place. We were one of only two tables in the entire restaurant, our server was friendly, but for the price of the meal, the food was nothing great. Not bad either, just not overly good. My wifes Salmon entree was described on the menu with grits, and it was sent out with rice, with no explanation as to why. The radio running the house music was 'broken' according to the server, so the place was just dead silent and felt weird.
If you like a restaurant with modern decor, this is it. The space was wide open, with views looking out onto Euclid Ave. The food was pretty good, but I think the wine was priced slightly on the high side. I will put this on my list of places to visit again.
First time to Central Table and really enjoyed it! Went there before the Muny for dinner with my daughter and niece. Food was delicious! The chef even made a special order pizza for my daughter! Will definately come back again!
Everything was okay, but it just wasn't exciting enough to go back.
Our waitress was great. Very a tuned to likes and dislikes. My husband really liked the Bourbon chicken, tender, moist and tasty. I had Cornish Hen Ravioli and it was tasteless, the flavor came from the broth which was salty but no other flavor. Had high hopes with the portobello and ravioli. Would be better with more flavorful ravioli, like a mushroom or squash filling. And the addition of flavors, herbs, etc to broth. Otherwise, drinks were good, service was great and we'd go again.
This was my first visit to Central Table, and I will be back again and again.
Don't go here for dinner. We went on a Thursday evening and it was empty. Nevertheless, it took the bartender FOREVER to make 5 cocktails: 2 Cosmos, 2 vodka sodas, and a wine. The lone server on duty excused the wait, by saying "we do CRAFT cocktails." Horsepucky. These were easily-mixed drinks that any busy bar could whip out in an instant -- no muddling, infusing, or hocus pocus required. We then tried to order food. "Oh, we're out of that" and "Oh, that's no longer on the menu" was the refrain. Well, I'm reading it, so it's on the menu (which is dated less than a week ago). Maybe it's craft food, too. We decided to cut our losses, pay for the drinks, and split. Then the server discloses that she is the manager and is comping our drinks so we don't have a bad experience. Too late. And the manager is the only server? This place must be fixing to go sneakers up. We left a good tip for the bad bartender and got out of there -- fast.
A nice large and open space. Very airy and comfortable. Good food and good service. Very friendly people running the restaurant.
We made a reservation to dine there, but we changed our minds after having a couple of drinks at the bar. At 7:00 pm on a Saturday night, there were only 3 tables of people dining. Another table of 6 or so arrived after us, but the lack of patrons on a busy Saturday night concerned us. We looked a little closer at the menu and were really disappointed by the limited selections. This is not the same restaurant we went to awhile back. The selection was much less limited than our previous experience and overall, the place just felt sad. We left after a couple of drinks at the bar and dined on the patio nearby at Wildflower. I will say that the Moscow Mule I had at Central Table was really good! The restaurant unfortunately feels like it is nearing its end.
We must have found an old menu on google on line as the one we were given for dinner was skimpy in comparison. No sushi bar...just a couple of sashimi options. They did not have the wine we requested. We were there at 6:00 to 7:30 on a weeknight and there were few other patrons. I got a chicken and artichoke entrée which turned out to be a flatbread pizza. Ok, but not what I expected. My partner had an ahi tuna dish, very small and not impressive. I think this place is headed downhill. Service was good.
There's posh and trendy and then there's reficuloisly pretentious. The food portions were incredibly small...I ordered lobster tortellini and got 4 total. Considering we ordered off the heavier fare portion of the menu we were literally speechless when the food arrived. Unbelievable.
(Disclaimer here - I rarely ever leave reviews, so the fact that I am should say something) My fiancee and I decided at the last minute to go out for dinner and chose this restaurant due to two reasons, the close proximity and the high star rating (I believe it was 4). We arrived at 6:45 on Friday night and most of the restaurant was empty, which I found odd given its rating and CWE location. We were sat and our orders were taken quickly but then it took them quite a long time just to get our drinks to us with the understanding that it was literally not busy at all. We both ordered the same appetizer and entree (tuna tartare and pan seared scallops) and safe to say, both meals were nothing to write home about. The tuna tartare was quite bland and unappetizing, but I was hungry and still ate it so you can at least know it was edible. The entree on the other hand was so over-salted (both the scallops and risotto that it was on top of) that I couldn't even finish the whole meal. It's safe to say that I won't be going back again and would not recommend it to anyone. Just was quite disappointed with the overall experience (food and service) given the high rating (which is very misleading), but would give it credit for its nice atmosphere and design.
Waited 20 minutes for valet, no sign, could not get car. Then valet got mad because we only gave her $5.00.
The trout dish was very subpar compared to other restaurants, with 3 thin fried pieces of fish only. The ice cream that was to have Carmel hardly had that flavor. The cab wine selection was good. The service was very good.
We are taking this restaurant off our list.
The menu was interesting. The food was beautifully served and delicious. I look forward to our next visit!
very limited options for diners like me who don't eat red meat!
We went to Central Table for dinner. I later realized that the food station concept is only offered at lunch, so I was a little disappointed in the more limited sit down choices for dinner -my bad since I should have done better research. We started with the spicy salmon roll. The cilantro topping was a nice touch, though at $13 the roll was overpriced. For my main, I had the garlic chicken pizza. Tasty wood fired crust but there wasn't enough garlic flavor for my liking. My husband had the pappardelle - he thought it was fine but nothing overly special. Our service was excellent with prompt attention to drink refills and our courses were served efficiently.
Solid food and service. Nothing exceptional but certainly worthy of a return when out for a casual evening.
had a great night before heading to a play. food was great frim sushi to pork etc. they do a great job with multiple fiod origins and styles
Great atmosphere but something's were way over priced and others where great. Beautiful setting great place to come for a date or girls night out.
If you haven't dined at Central Table lately, you should try their new menu ... and attentive service. Same great space that draws energy from the CWE neighborhood but with a fresh new, expanded menu. Try the calamari, lamb tortellini and incredible house-made ice creams.
We enjoyed the wide variety of choices, excellent service, convenient location and attention to detail! Brendan, our server made us feel like insiders at an exclusive venue!
The sushi was very good but the main pasta and steak entrees were mediocre and bland. We arrived early for the evening service and were the first dinners and were disappointed to have our food served lukewarm.
Good food - a bit pricey though.
Service, ambiance and live music were all great. Menu was varied and there was a good selection of drinks. For the price, the portions - or maybe just the polish in presentation - could've been better. I really enjoyed my sushi and calamari. Would recommend and would visit again, at least once.
Best restaurant in central west end! Food was amazing!
We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the creative presentations. We were invited to a wine tasting before ordering dinner which was also a unique touch. We will be back.
I read a lot of positive things about CTFH. My experience was, in a word, disappointing. We were a table of four on Saturday night. The room was mostly empty (that should have been a sign). The food was OK, but nothing exceptional. I was surprised by the lack of choice. The dessert menu was essentially non-existent. The best thing I can say about the night is that the valet was very friendly.
Went with friends who enjoyed food. Last time had excellent lamb shank. This time with different and new chef, not as tender and as good with previous chef.
Central Table does nearly everything well and serves as a perfect dining spot for couples and small-groups. The menu is varied and inventive while not sprawling. Cocktails and drinks are excellent.
Hadn't been back to Central Food Hall in awhile, since we were underwhelmed with food in the past.
This time however, we loved our hummus, beet, tzakiki appetizer plate to pair with our predinner drinks.
Salmon entree was wonderful as was the pasta with shrimp.
Great service...we will be back again soon!
Initially, my salmon was a bit overcooked, but our server was incredibly accommodating...he immediately apologized and took it back for the chef to re grill...he even offered free dessert! We enjoyed the food, otherwise. We were really impressed by his graciousness. Also, the acoustics in the restaurant were surprisingly good, considering the size of the place. The menu had a wide variety to offer so I'd definitely recommend it as a good place to go with a group of people.
We weren't sure what to expect going in, but were pleasantly surprised. The food was great, service was outstanding, and the overall atmosphere was warm and romantic. We will definitely be back!
My boyfriend and I have been to Central table a handful of times when it first opened and we loved it! We moved from the CWE to the county last year and have not made it back until this past Saturday night. We were excited to come back to enjoy Central Table, however we were very underwhelmed. The shrimp appetizer was extremely overcooked and the flavor did not make up for that. The short rib was under seasoned and overcooked with a large side of chopped mushrooms. I like mushrooms, however I was confused by the amount and lack of flavor. The bolognase tasted like plain tomato sauce and where was the meat? There was small pieces of meat floating around in the sauce, very underwhelming. The brisket special had great flavor, but was overcooked. Three of us went to dinner to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and we were all quite disappointed. We decided it best to leave and get our dessert somewhere else.
Liked this restaurant for lunch with a large group of friends. I had the special chicken tacos and was very pleased. Butternut squash risotto was also excellent.
The octupus appetizer was very good, but frankly the main entree was so small that I ended up ordering a dessert just so I did not leave hungry. Given the prices, and I realize this is the Central West End, one whould expect a bit more on the plate.
We were really looking forward to dining here with friends. We had an early dinner reservation so we did not experience the noise we had been warned about. I have to admit I was disappointed I the ravioli that I ordered - bland and too sweet. Brussel sprouts were excellent though. One perso ordered the risotto - again, nothing special. Maybe we ordered the wrong things. While our waiter was attentive in the beginning, we couldn't find him whenwe needed our check. I am ambivalent about returning there.
Okay - so, I wasn't too keen on the bone marrow, but, that was just me; my friend really liked it. All other fare were delicious and the wine (cab) and Jameson with ginger were tasty, too.
