Eating at the Boathouse, looking out the picture windows onto the Lake is the most beautiful and relaxing way to celebrate in New York. It is gorgeous. The food is delicious. The service is welcoming and accommodating. It is expensive but great for a special anniversary or birthday.

Great location and excellent atmosphere after a new year’s walk through Central Park.

The server came by once - never checked on us. The busboys were great they came around often. I wanted to ask for something for my lunch- by the time he came over all of us were done with meal.

Visited for Boxing Day lunch on our trip from UK. Place was very busy but we were seated immediately as we'd booked in advance. Service staff were friendly, smartly dressed and helpful. The setting is great and we had a window table with view out over the lake. Food was delicious and well cooked. The Monkfish Risotto I ordered was particularly good. We shared a bottle of our favourite Taittinger NV, which was priced very reasonably compared to other places and wines available. All in all, a very enjoyable experience, followed by a horse and carriage ride around the park. Tip: Wear a jumper if you are visiting in Winter, it ain't triple glazed!

Nice setting - probably better in the warmer months. We felt very rushed. The service was poor and the food wasn't great. It's very expensive considering the average food and service. The setting is the only thing going for this restaurant in my opinion.

I have been wanting to go here to eat for a good number of years and as we were visiting New York for my 50th birthday it was an ideal opportunity to visit.
I was quite disappointed by the shabby appearance outside with peeling paint and broken signs but once inside it was lovely and very christmassy but in an elegant way not tacky. The menu was a little limited but the food that we had was very good. Now for the service, the waiters and staff were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and they were very informative about the choices, etc.
Overall a lovely dining experience in a beautiful setting but i would suggest asking for a table lakeside as this was where we were and it was stunning.

The Boathouse is in a beautiful situation with delightful views over the lake. We asked for a seat at the window and were not disappointed although there were no boats out at this time of the year. Service is attentive and discreet. The food was delicious. This is the place to come for a special occasion.

We returned to The Boathouse to celebrate a family occasion which I booked in advance from Australia. I was delighted to find my earlier experience from a few years ago repeated with excellent service, wonderful food and a good wine list. For me, a meal at the Central Park Boathouse is a New York highlight. I look forward to coming back!

My husband and I came here to celebrate our first six months of marriage, and it was an incredible treat. Our food was fantastic, service was wonderful and the ambiance/view was outstanding. Definitely would recommend.

From the beginning, the ambience of the location, the attentiveness of the service and the quality of the meal were all faultless. We had booked a couple of weeks in advance (which is necessary) and dressed for the occasion (which, one rapidly realises in New York, is not). We had the crab cake which was full of real crab meat (as opposed to filler) and the excellent grilled octopus to start. Then my partner had the ahi tuna while I had the steak. In all cases the portions were very generous. We washed it all down with a very pleasant Pouilly Fume.
And then to signal the special occasion, the waiter bought us a warm chocolate fondant with chocolate sorbet - absolutely delicious.

Learned my lesson last time I was in the city so, this trip I booked reservations well in advance for a great dinner at the boat house. My Husband raved for 2 days about his meal. Great food, great ambiance, great service. We will be back (and book ahead)💜😉
