The best and most brilliant thing about the the CP Boathouse is the setting and the service. The food is excellent, but we go there for the magical ambiance. The lake view and the wildlife and the NY sky is magnificent. The maître d' did his best to accommodate our request for a lakeside table. All the waiters were brilliant. Anything missing? They were out of non-alcoholic beer last time.
It had just stopped pouring and apparently a lot of folks had cancelled their reservations. We were able to score a table right near the water and catch glimpses of the sunset. Lovely setting; wonderful service a s yummy food!
The service was excellent! I loved it
The experience was amazyng
great place for dinner under the patio on the pond!
Amazing experience! Great service! Super clean
A must stop if you’re visiting NYC. we managed to get same day reservations out of sheer luck; make sure to book in advance.
Ideal setting on a summer evening in New York. First you watch the sun set over the lake and the Southwest. Then you turn your attention to the fish in the lake who are attracted by the lights. They shimmer back and forth in front of the restaurant, hoping for a nibble of something. During that time, your very professional waiter takes care of your every need. This place is very welcoming, but it is not the “Hello, my name is Jamie and I’ll be your waiter tonight” manner. It is swift, confident European-style service. You will be surrounded by the world: guests and staff are from everywhere and the staff, from the reception to the bar to the runners, and waiters show you why NYC is such a great city. By the way, the scene is a bit different at lunch because there are more “ladies who lunch” but as they are often elegantly dressed, there are plenty of good people-watching opportunities.
The food is good, especially the crab cake appetizer. Portions are modest, which is a good thing. The ingredients are of a high quality, for example, delicious fresh scallops. Is this the top level of cuisine one finds in NY? Not yet, but you will have interesting takes on classics, like a lobster risotto and salads, like the shaved white asparagus with Parmesan, croutons, and greens. And dessert will also be satisfying. As I said at the top, in the summer in NY, the Central Park Boat House is a great combination of good food and natural setting. No exhaust fumes or traffics noise and you are outside!
great meal! the staff was great, the food delicious and the place beautiful.
Can not say enough about Fathers Day/plus Birthday dinner. We had salmon and halibut dinners that were prepared perfectly. Excellent service. All around wonderful. Just a little bit warm. More fan power would have helped.
It is a very nice atmosphere, I really like this place.
Great service, delicious food, spectacular view…
Service could have been better, we were seated and waited almost 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. were not even asked for a drink order first, our food order was taken. then the drink order was taken, we had to ask for the drink menu. Overall food was great, service was good. Waited a bit longer for our food, but we were there for a celebration so it was fine, we were not rushed at all. Great table right at the water. Crab cake appetizer was delicious. Everything was delicious.
Iconic beautiful venue that knows it, so it can scrimp on service and overcharge. Happy we had a meal there, but would never return.
The food and location was amazing. But the service was just alright. We expected better service considering the cost.
Could not have asked for a better experience. Worth every penny for the service, the view, the relaxed atmosphere, and the wonderful sense of place this restaurant communicates. Great food to boot - we each ordered seafood and it was well prepared. With a special birthday dessert, it gave our LA crew a great reason to return to NYC again and again.
Amazing lunch! Beautiful day and awesome setting. The best crabcake and delicious scallops. Ended with the vanilla bean panna cotta. Loved it all!
Great experience for lunch on June 17. Server was so professional; food was great (get the crab cake); ambiance is wonderful (but schedule early since best tables are gone by 12:30pm).
We went for dessert and everything was absolutely delicious! Service was wonderful! This is a must do while in NYC!
Wonderful, beautiful place on a beautiful day.
Our server was attentive and very pleasant. The assistant server was equally attentive and pleasant.
Love the place.
Such a lovely spot fir lunch! Food was good, desserts were excellent!
We had an amazing time.. beautiful restaurant, great food and outstanding service! Our server, Clay, was super attentive and very knowledgeable! We can’t wait to come back!
The setting is really superb. So is the cuisine, surprisingly refined. Attentive service. A delightful experience.
We were first to arrive for lunch and it was a very quiet afternoon, just after a morning rain. The view of the lake was lovely. The service was attentive but not invasive and prompt with our menu choices. Very pleasant experience.
Waiters were very kind and helpful. However , the man who guided us to our table was rude. I mentioned to him that it was my friend’s birthday but was totally ignored . He couldn’t even smile and wish her a happy birthday — wow. Not even a candle on her dessert ... nothing. Food was good, but over-priced.
As a native New Yorker I thought it was about time to try the boathouse. The food was good as was the service; my cocktail was disappointing, though not more expensive than other local establishments. It was a cosmopolitan and wasn’t made properly with fresh lime juice. Overall it was an atmosphere that can’t easily be duplicated in New York City and was worth a one time dining experience.
The food was good though not quite as good as we were expecting but the service was great. The setting was very nice looking out over the lake.
Iconic location. Steak and fish were both over cooked. Everything else was great.
We have a beautiful dinner, thanks for all your services, food was really good 😋
had not been to the Boat House for years. I was so good to be back and find to be as wonderful as always.
Amazing experience, highly recommended spot for any occasion!
Excellent food and drink. They were very generous with us, didn’t rush us out the door or try to turn over the table. No other view like it in the city.
The location cannot be beat - beautiful location in Central Park. The food was better than I expected for such a big tourist spot so we were happily surprised. We shared the burrata with asparagus and then had the halibut which was the special for the day, and it was delicious and my daughter had the roasted chicken -- portions were large, the chicken was enormous with way too much for lunch. Tables are close together and there were several large parties near us so the noise was a bit overpowering at times. Service was adequate. It was also a very warm day and the overhead fans were barely moving and did not offer much air movement - they are also spread far apart. I would return on a cooler day without a doubt just for the location alone.
Wonderful food and service in an iconic setting. Great place to relax when visiting Central Park.
A bit noisy, but very nice place.
Excellent food and service. Everyone friendly and helpful except the hostess at the entrance to the restaurant. She is the wrong person for that job. No smile. Not friendly and when we left restaurant she said nothing and made no eye contact.
Nice patio. Food was just okay except for the dessert. The cheesecake was amazing!
It was a hot day and it looked like the fan was on extra slow. I thought I saw some a/c units but no air. Had to cut visit short too too hot. Put some fans in to circulate air or at least a slight breeze🙄😡
Beautiful atmosphere but mediocre food and poor service.
Beautiful location and nice restaurant.
Was so excited to get there after A summer squall. we sat by a window that was able to be opened within the first half hour. It is so much better than I ever hoped for both my companion and I had a fabulous Fish and good homemade bread. Besides this, you are actually waited on. There were tablecloths and you feel like you are not being rushed stunning setting I will be booking again thank you for a lovely evening and for being a fixture in Manhattan.
