Amazing location, food was gorgeous, staff really good

Fabulous meal amazing place a must when you are in New York.

A must, not because of the food but the atmosphere and location.
The service was excellent but the hamburgers were very red even though I asked for well done.
But we had a beautiful table, it was an unforgettable experience.

The setting is amazing especially on a blue sky day. Staff very efficient & helpful. Food amazing. Booking is a must. We would definitely re-visit.

Made a late lunch reservation to celebrate our 15th anniversary since we got engaged at the Boat House. Boy, a lot has changed over the years!
It’s no longer an elegant exclusive place to dine. It’s a busy tourist trap that has zero crowd control and people wearing baggy sweats and baseball caps at the tables next to you.
You walk into the busy bar to see a huge line along the wall. Turns out the line is for the lone restroom that everyone in Central Park must be utilizing. If you are a diner there you are screwed.
If you don’t know where to check in and you end up at the coffee shop side, they’re not very friendly with guiding you to the hostess podium that is in the bar - it gets hidden by all of the people surrounding it.
We were seated quickly thankfully because of our reservation. Wait staff was friendly.
Food came out oddly quickly. Lobster tostada appetizer is bland. Sea bass specialty had no crispiness on the skin side that was served face up - lots of steam coming out of it which leads me to believe the thing was just microwaved.
We skipped on coffee and dessert.
The nostalgic part was nice but won’t need to return!

Booked this for a surprise birthday lunch and we were not disappointed at all. The staff were very courteous, professional and engaging and the food was just amazing (Crab Cakes were off the scale and fully recommended). From booking with OpenTable to actually sitting down and having our meal was a pleasant experience.

Purtroppo dove abbiamo mangiato noi (posto molto comodo e largo causa passeggino) c’era un po’ freddino. Per il resto tutto ok! Anzi molto buono!

Setting is excellent. Food was good, but overpriced. Service was very good. Had a late lunch there and was very satisfied.

Enjoyed perfect 50F weather outside before entering restaurant. Seated at requested window. Bread selection was superb. Enjoyed daily specials. Lunch menu was expensive, halibut somewhat dry, filet great! Very noisy at 2-4PM time.

Unfortunately the food could be better and if they did offer more quality food they could attract locals along with the tourists. I don't think locals will go there due to the below par food - but the ambiance is very nice and the service was very good.

Lovely lunch at The Boat House, a real treat, food was really good, not fussy and great portions. Our waiter was good and suggested some dishes for us which was good as we probably would have gone for the safe option! Lovely view over the boating lake, expensive, but lovely for a treat.

Exceptional service staff. Restaurant was a little crowded for floor space size which increased noise level & temperature greatly. Nice food, however quite limited basic menu.

Romantic late lunch with my wife, fabulous setting with very friendly service. As always it was busy and somewhat noisy. The scallops and shrimp were excellent, the bread was just so so. Some mistakes ... the kitchen lost our order, so food was service was very slow ... silverware was not clean ... glassware was heavily spotted.

The bar service pre dining was appalling. I have never seen bar tenders in this great city not look at their customers.The whole experience was saved by staff who desperately need a leader not a manager. The maître d’ had an absolute meltdown and simply got in the way of some wonderful talent. The food was as it was on our last visit and if it wasn’t for the entertainment provided by watching staff do their best to deal with the distraction of an incompetent maître d’ it would have been a total disappointment.

Great place to have lunch on a crisp autumn day. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Partners 50th birthday,

I chose to spend my birthday, having lunch at the boathouse. When I could not get an earlier time on Open Table, I called the day of and explained to the women that I am a party of one, who just had a knee replacement and would love to dine at an earlier time for my Birthday. Without hesitation, she opened the time slot and gave me the most magnificent table, setting the mood for a fabulous day. The service, the food, the person delivering bread and water all were top notch.
I could not have had a better experience. Even on a rainy day the ambiance was lovely.

Everything was fine, the food, the service to the table,the view, except the hostess that was not sympathic or polited when we arrived, because she didin’t place us beside the window as I already requested in the app, and I’m always attended, because we were in two persons, and my reservation was for four. There was two tables availables, one of that was mine but the girl didin’t agree in put us in those tables. She was rude! But I’ll come back again, she didin’t disturb my lunch.

The Bronzino, Scallops, salads and desserts were delicious, the service was very gracious. We live in New York and the historical Loeb Boathouse is a special experience which cannot be matched by the many “regular” restaurants in New York.

The ambiance of the Boat House was great. We were looking forward to a romantic evening. We ordered a very good bottle of wine and then ordered our entrees. We ordered a crab cake and the salmon. It wasn’t five minutes before our food came out. Had we been in a fast food restaurant that would have been great. Not in a fine dining establishment. The food was obviously prepared earlier and microwaved. The salmon was warm but the Brussel sprouts the salmon was on top of was cold. Very disappointing

On our last night in NYC for my birthday, we made reservations at the boat house for dinner. We requested a water view and they sat is pretty close which was nice. While the food and service were exceptional, the noise level was nearly unbearable. I sat 2 ft away across the table from my husband and I could barely hear him which made dinner conversation difficult. Other than that my birthday dinner was topped off with an unexpected dessert with the waiters singing Happy Birthday to me. Great menu - highly recommend the blue lump crab cakes which are actually an appetizer but tbeyll bring you dinner size portions (2 instead of 1)

Beautiful location, very good food, attentive and excellent service.

A beautiful view and fantastic food. Service was great, very friendly wait staff never had to ask for anything he just new what we needed. Had the seared scallops and they were delicious And the crab cakes, best I’ve ever had. Definitely a highlight of my vacation.

It was very loud. We requested a waterfront table. When we arrived they did not have our reservation ready. It has potential to be an Awesome location.

Go during the day because you can't see much at night and the lighting is not great and doesn't set the best mood. Food was truly delicious and worthy. Wish the internal atmosphere was more special and set a more iconic mood. Going at night was a disappointment.

the lake view tables were lovely. we arrived early and was sat straight away. the food was lovely and the service was great.
the only down side was the queue for the toilets they should be for customers only. one point i was waiting 20 mins in the queue and people from outside were all coming in to use.
nice place to book for a lunch after walking around the park.
