Centini Restaurant & Lounge
This was one of the city's hottest tables when it opened in 2002 and its take on fine dining and service have only improved with age. Consistently well-executed food and relaxed, professional service rule in this contemporary dining room, which is filled with an eclectic collection of Canadian art. Daily fish deliveries, hand made fresh pasta, an in-house bakery and attention to the nuances of authentic Mediterranean cuisine abound on the large menu. The sleek dining room is complemented by additional rooms that can be closed off, a feature that makes Centini a favorite haunt of the city's corporate players seeking privacy. A stellar meal deserves a stellar wine, and Centini's collection of labels is a match for any dish here.
I rated things we actually didn't experience... we had a reservation for January 2nd, booked trough Open Table to find when we arrived that the restaurant was closed! We didn't even receive any courtesy call. That's atrocious service and speaks loud in how they care for their customers.
Made reservations with family before we went to Theatre Calgary, fantastic food. Between the 4 of us we had 3 different plates and was able to taste all, Delicious. Our waiter ask if we were there before the Theatre and ensured we were done with plenty of time.
Went for a year end lunch with a customer and was very excited to try Centini's. It did not disappoint. Food was amazing and will certainly make it a first choice when in the area. Only thing that knocked it down one star is our table felt like it was crammed into a spot that a smaller table should have gone. we were in very tight quarters and the servers rubbed against the table every time they passed us.
Service was great and food was good. Centini continues to be great throughout the years
Best Italian in the city in my opinion. Never had a bad meal here. Rack of lamb was cooked perfectly.
An embarrassing business dinner with clients.
We were seated in a front room in which the heat was not working properly. It was uncomfortable and should not have been used.
My guests ordered but were told not once but twice that the item was not available after they ordered. Very awkward.
Typically Centini is a very good restaurant but this was a big disappointment.
Except for the Caprese Salad, which had tasteless tomatoes, the rest of the meal was excellent. As for the service, we were seated at a table which was not properly prepared and a waiter who did not notice. It had a candle that was not lit (all the other tables around had lit candles .. I had to take one from an unoccupied table); it had no olive oil or balsamic vinegar (the other tables did .. so I had to take them from another table); it had no flowers (but all the other tables had flowers); the apple juice ordered at the beginning of the meal arrived during the main course after we reminded the waiter; the meals were served to the wrong people; and, we were seated right next to the water serving station (less than 3 feet).
Great spot for good food good wine and in a great location for the theatre. Love going there and getting good service in a very professional environment eating great food with a terrific wine list to choose from.
Overall an excellent meal and service. What made it less than perfect- wine list is in my view over priced. Very few options below $100 which seems extreme for a business meal in this economy. The room was very cold.
Menu was limited from the get go. Wine selection was vast. Food was done right but appetizers were way too big.
Deserts were store bought it seemed.
Our waiter was scatterbrained and couldn’t fake his lack of professionalism for too long until it became evident he was unfit for his job.
We asked him at the beginning of the meal to have a pasta dish to go for when we left and he mentioned it twice during our meal.
He forgot to have it ready and the kitchen refused to make it even after sending him back twice to make it. Absolutely missed the mark and just doesn’t have what it takes to be a professional. Bad move on his part. It shrouded our entire experience in negativity.
Lovely food and nice service. Very convenient for dinner before a CPO concert.
We go to Centini regularly before the Theatre and also for very nice meals including business and private receptions.
The food was very good. The wine list was exceptional. The service was perfect. Very enjoyable evening.
We had previously been and the meals were excellent. Not so great this time.
Centini did a great job for me and my guests. Reservation did not get to them. Up your game Open Table!
Bel endroit qu’on nous a fait découvrir. Un régal de A à Z.
The meal looked wonderful but the food was not seasoned very well at all. It left my taste buds quite disappointed. Service was excellent though...
Location is convenient if you are on a theatre outing. However, a place that advertisies itself as a Fine Dining Italian restaurant, it has a way to go. While the ambiance does classify as fine dining, the menu selection and quality is what needs attention. While there certainly is a long list of pasta, both the quantity and quality of veal dishes are below expectation. When what is prominent is a steak, that basically indicates that the customer base is conventional.
Service was attentive and cordial. As expected. However, failure to execute the order based on a stated food allergy is not acceptable. Fortumately, this customer noted and was able to avoid the item. When brought to attention, remedy was not offered.
As a consequence, best rating was average. If these issues can be addressed, Centini does have the potential necessary to be one of the better establishments downtown Calgary.
Food was excellent. We have been there a couple of times. Fist time was an overall excellent. Tasty, but the service was lacking this time. I atribuye it to the server and not the place. Quiet and great environment.
First time at your restaurant and will definitely be back. Food was so amazing. Thank you.
My first time to Centini. Both me and my date were very pleased.
Three words. OMG
Great food, Great wine list and Great servers. We had a bit of a wait upon arrival and not the warmest reception but after we were seated, the service was impeccable.
The food was absolutely amazing ; if you appreciate great italian food, it's definitely a must try.
We would go back !
We had a wonderful meal. One wanted something particular he had in mind. Our waiter listened and created just the right pasta for my husband. It was perfect. I had a pasta on the menu. Very tasty. If we had been staying in town longer, we would have come back. There were other things on the menu that we would have liked to order. It was such a good meal in a very pleasant atmosphere with an attentive waiter. One of the highlights of our trip.
This is a high end expensive restaurant and not particularity well appointed with its plastic flowers. I had the stuffed chicken and it was barely eatable, greasy and no flavor. Others were OK with what they had but did not rave about it.
There are better options.
Great service. Quiet atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Centini is our favourite Calgary restaurant. Once again we were not disappointed. I had the Sea Bass which was cooked to perfection as was my husbands Halibut. The wine list is varied and well priced. Service is also excellent. The ambiance is quiet and sophisticated which is why we like coming here. The restaurant was quite busy this night too. We will be back. Thank you again Centini’s.
We had the avocado and crab salad, cream of wild mushroom soup, lobster ravioli, with creme brûlée and carrot cake for desert. Food was excellent, service was very good.
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. The waiter was attentive yet not intrusive. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
I had the scallop appetizer and the squid ink pasta, which was amazing! Good service as well
Had a wonderful Mother's Day dinner here and out server, Josh, was attentive, without being obtrusive.
The wine list is fantastic (we weren't up to the $30,000, 18 litre bottle from Italy) and it pairs well with the creative menu offerings.
Tha rack of lamb was superb!
I would definitely recommend!
The Special Occasion was a get together of close friends, with fast tracked conversation and a limited time budget of 1 hour 15 minutes prior to a CPO event! We enjoyed dynamic conversation, exquisite cuisine and impeccable service, all in an intimate setting and were ready for our CPO event on time!
Great dinner but the air conditioning was set so high it made us rush through our meal.
Quality and taste of food was excellent and served well in time for us to go to the theatre.
The food was well executed and the various dining areas made for a bit more of an intimate dining experience. Good for a date night for sure.
Service was slow. Expensive
Wonderful dining experience with very good food and service. On expensive side but still get good value. Veal chop is outstanding. Will be back.
Centini's is a great place to go prior to Theatre or Concert at Jack Singer Hall. Excellent food and service!
Great service and awesome food. Our waiter really knew both the wine menu and the food menu well
