Centanni Ratings and Reviews
First visit to Centanni since they started full menu dinner service, as we live
a couple of blocks away, great to find a delicious, reasonably priced, comfortable
dining experience close by, now that Abbott Kinney has become a Cluster swamp on the weekends for all of LA -
Recomend it for Great food and excellent service
Consistently great food with creative twists, and friendly service. Great pasta and interesting specials (duck ravioli was terrific), and no-pasta dishes (filet of sole on large bed of cooked spinach always wonderful, and lots of great salads)
It's time Los Angeles restaurants to get it together! Dining at a restaurant is about three things: quality of food, service, and overall experience. I treated my family to a Holiday dinner on Dec 29 at Centanni. The quality of the food was so-so, service was minimal, and overall experience was a "no go". Where's the "may I tell you about the specials, can I offer you dessert, you should try our ___?" Where's the Holiday cheer -- at least a candle or ? on the tables or wreath on the wall to celebrate the Holidays --- Where's the actual "experience" of it all. Not at Centanni's, sadly.
I live close to this restaurant and have dined there many times. The food can be great, and it can be poor; inconsistency is the main reason I don’t dine here more often. I believe that the food and service are better early in the evening, or on a midweek evening; once they get busy, everything deteriorates. My table request was ignored, my lasagne was burned almost through, the busser is too aggressive, the place too noisy when it fills up.
Centanni is a nice go to place that offers predictably good food, a welcome ambience, and personalized service. We have visited on numerous occasions to the point that we have our own table and server who goes out of her way to ensure that we have a pleasant evening, A definite place fo those who enjoy Italian food in a casual ambience.
I discovered this place a month or so ago and since have brought several friends here for dinner. The food is exceptional. Their Seafood Risotto Special and their Steak are the two dishes I've had and keep coming back to. My dinner companions that include out of town guests, locals and a couple from Barcelona in Los Angeles for the first time, have all greatly enjoyed their meals. Their food is matched by the quality and attentiveness of the service. This is my go-to place for dinner with guests.
Best avoided during daylight hours. Filthy. Incredibly soiled carpets. Menus had something oily on them, as did the wine list. Maybe the incredible views distract others?
I can't comment on the food. I left without ordering due to general lack of cleanliness.
It bothers me to say such harsh things about a business. But I simply have nothing else to share.
Been here many times and have never had a disappointment. The food is always so delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the corkage fee is reasonable as are the prices, in general. They do have a thoughtful and reasonable wine list. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but I'd walk any reasonable distance to enjoy the wonderful food and great service. Millicent is ne plus ultra as a waiter--charming, efficient and attentive.
Centanni, once again, revealed itself to be a favorite local restaurant - i bumped into an old friend - and the server was a familiar lovely surprise, who recommended perfect dishes to compliment one another.
The filet of sole over garlicky spinach was what i was hoping would be on the menu and it was!
The rosé was superb as was the eggplant parmigiana.
Thank YOU again
Second course served before the table had finished the first course. Whole dinner felt hurried, like the table was needed- but the place was half empty. Music so loud it made conversation around the table difficult. They did turn it down at our request, but the volume crept up slowly. Old favorite dishes seemed off. Obviously an off night for a much-loved restaurant. Hope they get it together soon!
This is my third time at Centanni and I was disappointed. The service was slow and inattentive. The food was not as good as previous visits. My guest required some special diet consideration, and the waitress grudgingly accommodated and was not very forthcoming about it. My reservation clearly stated this was for a birthday, and the waitress never acknowledged that. We just let it go and celebrated elsewhere.
