Cellini’s culinary style of chic simplicity produces a menu of astounding freshness and creativity. We began with a masterful rendition of cornmeal polenta wedges with masses of slivered shitake mushrooms and a calamari salad garnished with beans and scallions, each set off with a hot, homemade foccacia, augmented with sliced crusty Tuscan bread. We next chose panzotti-supple half moon pasta filled with fresh, crisp vegetables lightly bathed in a delicate porcini mushroom sauce. A unique tubular pasta stuffed with the freshest fish and spinach under a seasoned fish stock was enough to show us that each dish here has its own personality, and is densely concentrated with flavor.

The service was fine- they kind of forgot about us in the corner. We got the wrong appetizer, and my fish was VERY fishy and had rosemary on it and it didnt say that it had it on the menu which I dislike so much i couldnt eat it. Wouldn’t go back....

All of the waitstaff took such great care of us! We had a simple and satisfying meal. The atmosphere is intimate enough to hold a conversation during dinner.

We have eaten at Cellini several times on previous trips to New York, and we like it very much. The food is excellent. Service was spotty this time, and once we mentioned that we had theatre tickets that evening, our food was rushed to us much more quickly than needed. Otherwise, great food, nice wine, good ambiance.

The food at Cellini is always great. For many years we have come back for this reason. So my recommendation is ONLY for the quality of the food. Before, going back at least 10 years, there used to be a great ambiance, but this time there was just a rush with plates slammed down on the table and the server rushing off to the next order. So if you are after ambiance and a nice restaurant experience Cellini needs to take a good hard look at what’s happening on the floor. We were left feeling we were on a conveyor belt and the sooner the food got served, the sooner we would be out the door. It is unfortunate that the pressure to maximise the earning per table deminishes the guests’ experience.

We were recommended Cellini by our hotel concierge and it was an inspired choice. The perfect Italian -charming service, delicious food (I’d recommend the lobster ravioli), yummy wines by the glass, spot on with our 4 children aged 6-15 so with different requirements. We LOVED it and went back a second time!

My scallops were bad and smelled like ammonia. I didn’t eat them and called the restaurant to let them know they should check their inventory but no call back. Next time I will call the health department and let them deal with it

We find that Cellini consistently has the best Italian food in New York, and combined with its pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff, it's been one of our two favorite dining destinations for years now.

This was our third visit to Cellini's as we have eaten there on previous trips to New York City. We were a bit surprised when told that we had to put in our entire dinner order because of the private party going on downstairs. We have been told that in other restaurants and then have found that we are still enjoying our appetizers when our dinner orders have arrived! We did...and the rest was great! The appetizers, salads, and dinner orders arrived appropriately. The food was wonderful...as always! Cellini's will remain one of our favorite restaurants in New York City!

Cellini is a good old-fashioned Italian place. The food isn't novel, but the place doesn't aim for novel. It's well executed, served professionally. From appetizer to dessert, all good.

The food was great. Service was okay. The only thing I was not too happy with was although I had a reservation, I had to wait to be seated since my colleague was running late. In the meantime, people who came after me were seated before me.

I used to love Cellini (have my wedding rehearsal dinner there and a few great meals) but haven't been in a few years and god have things changed. The service was awful, there were four of us and we had to flag someone to order, and then it took almost an hour for our apps. we were begging for some olives or cheese for the center of the table we were so hungry. But then the food came and it was awful. The chicken my husband had was like airplane food and my pasta carbanara was just watery overcooked spaghetti with watery/milky tasteless sauce. I had two bites and pushed it away. And the waiter when he took the plate away didn't even ask if something was wrong. We all left disappointed, though enjoyed each others company, but we won't go or recommend Cellini again.

My impromptu dinner experience after arriving in NY in the evening from Denver was excellent. They accommodated me at the last minute. I had the veal parmigiana and it was delightful. The tomato sauce was light and did not mask the taste of the veal, which is a problem often encountered at other Italian restaurants. It included some tasty vegetables and a small dollop of mashed potatoes. There was plenty of food on the large plate. The service was prompt and courteous. Although I was alone, I did not feel alone with all the attention I got from the staff. The maitre d' even sat down with me and talked for a while. A small plate of tasty Italian cookies was provided, gratis, with my after dinner coffee. The ambience is cozy and authentic Italian. It is a smaller, comfortable neighborhood style restaurant, good for families and adults.
