Cellini’s culinary style of chic simplicity produces a menu of astounding freshness and creativity. We began with a masterful rendition of cornmeal polenta wedges with masses of slivered shitake mushrooms and a calamari salad garnished with beans and scallions, each set off with a hot, homemade foccacia, augmented with sliced crusty Tuscan bread. We next chose panzotti-supple half moon pasta filled with fresh, crisp vegetables lightly bathed in a delicate porcini mushroom sauce. A unique tubular pasta stuffed with the freshest fish and spinach under a seasoned fish stock was enough to show us that each dish here has its own personality, and is densely concentrated with flavor.

Cellini is a good old-fashioned Italian place. The food isn't novel, but the place doesn't aim for novel. It's well executed, served professionally. From appetizer to dessert, all good.

The food was great. Service was okay. The only thing I was not too happy with was although I had a reservation, I had to wait to be seated since my colleague was running late. In the meantime, people who came after me were seated before me.

I used to love Cellini (have my wedding rehearsal dinner there and a few great meals) but haven't been in a few years and god have things changed. The service was awful, there were four of us and we had to flag someone to order, and then it took almost an hour for our apps. we were begging for some olives or cheese for the center of the table we were so hungry. But then the food came and it was awful. The chicken my husband had was like airplane food and my pasta carbanara was just watery overcooked spaghetti with watery/milky tasteless sauce. I had two bites and pushed it away. And the waiter when he took the plate away didn't even ask if something was wrong. We all left disappointed, though enjoyed each others company, but we won't go or recommend Cellini again.

My impromptu dinner experience after arriving in NY in the evening from Denver was excellent. They accommodated me at the last minute. I had the veal parmigiana and it was delightful. The tomato sauce was light and did not mask the taste of the veal, which is a problem often encountered at other Italian restaurants. It included some tasty vegetables and a small dollop of mashed potatoes. There was plenty of food on the large plate. The service was prompt and courteous. Although I was alone, I did not feel alone with all the attention I got from the staff. The maitre d' even sat down with me and talked for a while. A small plate of tasty Italian cookies was provided, gratis, with my after dinner coffee. The ambience is cozy and authentic Italian. It is a smaller, comfortable neighborhood style restaurant, good for families and adults.
