This is truly a hidden gem in Hood River! The service is superb, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is excellent! This is our go to restaurant in Hood River. Always great food and superior service. Reservations are recommended otherwise it can be quite a wait.
This is the kind of restaurant I favor - short menu, tightly executed. In keeping with our emerging sensibilities, there are more than a few vegetable and grain forward options. As in no meat necessary or even to be missed. The meat influenced dishes are also sublime. At our waiter’s suggestion, I had the pork schnitzel with spaetzel and choucroute. Perfect for a cold winter night on the Columbia River gorge!
Celilo is our favorite restaurant. Chef Ben Stenn creates a wonderful selection of dishes focusing on local, farm to table ingredients. I appreciate the variety of vegetarian conscious options as well. Our server, Jessica, was very pleasant and efficient and the entire hostess, bar and serving staff are super friendly and wonderful.
The guys loved their flank steak but my salad and pasta was so so...throw a handful of lettuce on a plate and charge it up I guess...

Food was good but not terribly inspired. Wine list all local, which I understand; but variety is good. Also no published wine list online—we could not be sure the one bottle we brought was not already on the list, which one should research first out of courtesy. Service ok, but server was pretty snotty and inhospitable. Seemed miffed we brought wine; if they’re going to act like that then perhaps not allow it? Overall good, but expensive for overall experience. I hope someone better opens in Hood River soon. Having one game in town for fine dining means that game can get too comfortable for quality.

As my husband is very hard of hearing, noise level can be an issue. It was not. Too noisy not good for him.

Pasta Bolognese was very good. Ravioli was also very good but it was small portion, not an issue just a comment. Mellow clean place. Chopin vodka martini excellent. I do recommend.

Sadly they fell short on delivering our first anniversary meal, the food was over salty and they were way understaffed... when we did see our server he was friendly, but clearly, the only server on staff for the entire restaurant. With so many other great restaurants in hood river, we wish we had gone elsewhere to celebrate our special first wedding anniversary.
The Salmon Cake appetizer was delicious, as was the Kale Salad and Squash Soup.....and then we waited poor at least 30 minutes for our entrees with no word of apology or explanation - and there were only a few other tables in the entire restaurant filled. Pretty much spoiled the evening.

Service and ambiance were good. The wine and entree were delicious. We were let down by the dessert and coffee. We ordered the dessert special, a fig tart, which was just a generic puff pastry shell that was too tough on the bottom to cut with a fork. Might have sent it back for something else but it was quite busy by then and the server didn't return after dropping the dessert off. Last little disappointment was old-tasting coffee. Still, we would return.
My husband and I had dinner here for his birthday as part of a special get-away. Our experience at Celilo's was memorable. Exquisite food - we had the beet appetizer with horseradish sauce (who knew that beets and horseradish are so good together?) and the salmon dinner. The salmon had a crispy skin and the inside was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked, al dente, and complimented the salmon. Dessert was one of my husband's favorite treats: a rootbeer float (how many upscale restaurants offer that - very fun!). The service was impeccable, attentive but not overbearing. Ambience, which I am very picky about, was relaxing with candlelight, just enough ambient lighting and soft jazz in the background. Yes, it's expensive, but well worth it.
My wife and I went on a Sunday night. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. It took a while before a server showed up to take drink order. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Gris. After about 10 minutes the waiter came back and told us that they were “looking” for the wine. Instead of waiting any longer we ordered a different bottle of Pinot Gris that arrived at the table within a minute. It was very good. We asked for a wine cooler to keep it cool. That only arrived after we asked about 15 minutes later about it again. That was not the best start to an otherwise great dinner.
Food was excellent. We had the beet and green salad as appetizers and then the wild salmon.
Other than the service issues with the wine our waiter was nice and helpful.
Loved the ambiance at Celilo and was greeted warmly by host. Service was good enough and food decidedly so so. I was hoping for a much better experience based on reviews and initial feel of the restaurant.

a French 75 and it was so good, my husband ended up ordering one too (and is usually just a beer drinker!) Food was spot on. I had the clams and the mixed greens and we shared prawns. My husband had a burger. Our waitress was great and very attentive. Overall great experience for us as we were visiting from out of town. 10/10 would recommend!
We enjoyed a lovely dinner on 9/21/19 - each an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. The skillet clams were delicious and a very generous portion. The other appetizer was a caprese salad made with burrata, heirloom cherry tomatoes and a bit of melon. Not sure the melon improved the salad, but it was an interesting variant. Mains were a pork chop and a succotash made with local vegetables (we added 3 grilled shrimp for protein as suggested by our server). Both were well made and presented but it's a little hard to justify the menu price of the succotash. Desserts were both outstanding - volcano cake and a chilled lemon yogurt concoction (reminiscent of lemon cheesecake, but lighter) topped with a plum compote. Oh - 2 cocktails as well - both excellent. Spring Fling and Smoked Thyme Paloma I think were the names of them.
We went for our anniversary and had a wonderful time! From the appetizers to our dessert, everything was exceptional. We’ll definitely be back!
Food was excellent and our waitress, Stacy, was knowledgeable and personable! We ate there two nights while in town and both experiences were exceptional.
This is such a nice restaurant, but we were disappointed in our food. The jerk chicken dish was good, not too spicy, with lots of tasty corn and green beans. But the vegetarian gnocchi dish was way too spicy - so much so that all the vegetables had the same flavor, and the gnocchi was mushy with no flavor except spice. To give great credit to the restaurant, they ask detailed questions about why I didn’t like the dish and gave me credit for my wine. We hope to return and try a different entree.
