Celia's Mexican Restaurant - Palo Alto
Every day at Celia's we make fresh salsas, our tortillas are prepared fresh without lard, our steak and pork are lean, and our chicken is presented skinless and trimmed. We make fresh guacamole daily, our tamales are handmade daily, and we serve three different types of beans (refried, black beans, and pinto). Daily homemade flan with the best, high quality ingredients, and last but not least our margaritas do not come out of a machine, instead our secret mix is made daily! Come and enjoy!
That was the perfect place to celebrate my wife graduation! they even put up some balloons and a welcome message! We could not have picked a better place for the 16 or so party we had.
Celia's is a great place to bring friends together or just for a quiet dinner for two. It's family friendly and can accommodate large groups. I am consistently impressed by their staff's warm and welcoming nature. The food is wonderful (best nachos around!) and every dish is made incredibly well (and consistently good).
Good food, good price, terrible service. Hostess was great! The waiter only took half the table’s order the first time he came by, and one of the party had to go find him so the other half could order. Food came very quickly though.
This was our first experience at Celia's in Palo Alto. We usually go to Celia's in Menlo Park, since it's walking distance from our home. We chose this location because it offered reservations on Cinco de Mayo---where as the Menlo location did not. We found the food very delicious, generous portions, and a friend staff. We were lucky enough to find street parking for our large SUV in front of the restaurant. LOVELY atmosphere ! We will definitely return again.
When we are in the mood for Mexican food, we go to Celias.
I feel the meat was to liquidy or greasy. I understand the portions were a decent amount of food but I feel it was too high priced. Unfortunately this was the only restaurant in the area that was opened late. We were in town for funreal and our children needed to eat..not my first choice but it was our only choice.
Good food, friendly & efficient service, but too noisy. I’d go back again but probably at an off hour when it’s not so hectic and noisy.
It was my first time trying Celia’s with my mom. We ordered the crab enchiladas dinner special. Crab meat tasted fresh and food was freshly prepared. I appreciate how they let customers to replace rice with salad for those who want less carb in their diet. Fresh salsa and chips were bonus. Service was great and I love the decor! Will definitely be back.
Celia's remains an excellent restaurants, the specials are very interesting. The noise level is pretty extreme.
We have been coming here for years and appreciate the great mexican food and icy cold beers. We just had a farewell party for 40 people and the service and food was outstanding- Can’t say enough good things about Celia’s in Palo Alto- A+++ Thanks!!
As a Stanford alum, I have been going to Celia's in Palo Alto for over 20 years. Anytime I am back in town, I must stop and have dinner. The food is delicious, and service is excellent. The house margarita was strong, which is perfect. I cannot leave without having fried ice cream with strawberry sauce.
The service was good, the food was mediocre at best. Appeared to be pre-prepared and then microwaved for serving. Flavors were bland.
Solid, consistently good Mexican food. The service is very good. Reasonable value: slightly higher prices than typical Mexican restaurants, but the food and service make it worth the price.
Genuine food, liked the salsa and chips!
Our dining experience at Celia's was terrific! Flavorful Mexican food, excellent and cheerful service, and perfect Margaritas. Highly recommend!
Good food, terrible service. We would have ordered more drinks if anyone had bothered to come back and ask how we were doing. Also forgot to take off the $ for dinner special, but since no one comes around, hard to tell anyone, so just ate the $2 I should have saved. Will order takeout next time.
Always a fun, comfortable neighborhood restaurant with great Mexican food and friendly staff.
Live Mariachi band and singers on Mother's Day was a great, surprise treat.
Great night out with friends. I think it offers excellent value in its price range.
Was delicious! Will go again!! Especially loved tgve ground beef tacos!! Rice and beans delicious too!
We had a great experience for being a big group of 15 and our waitress Monica was amazing. She was super sweet, polite and take care of all of us =) with all our needs, adjustments and managed to do 5 separate bills which we are still very appreciated.
The food was delicious, energetic ambiance, friendly staff, didn't charge a cake fee and we can't wait to go back. Thank you!
Good wait service considering the bartender did the work of probably 3 people at a crowded time for lunch!!
Overall the restaurant was great. I think the service could have been a bit better as we had to ask for Water each time. But don't let that deter you from going. It was really good.
A bit better than avg Mexican food. Out server was great.
Celia's is normally our go-to place for Mexican food when visiting family in Palo Alto. We've been going to Celia's for years, but will probably look for other options in the future. The food was mediocre at best.
This place was really good but we did wish that the guac was made fresh.
Only thing missing was some really good verde salsa for the chips! I wish they had a few more vegetarian entrees but what we had was very good!
I have been going to Celia's for years. We were seated outside and the server never came. I went inside to ask for water and they said, "sorry we are busy" I asked them if we should just leave. After it still taking forever, just to get water, chips and salsa, we got up and left. They seemed surprised.
Good Mexican food with great taste. Salsa good but would prefer hotter option. Service outstanding and portions large. We can't wait to try other dishes.
I made this reservation on Cinco de Mayo to celebrate a May 5th birthday in our family - knowing that without a reservation there would be a long wait. But when we got there, Celia's said they don't take reservations on Cinco de Mayo. So I am disappointed that OpenTable gave me this option that Celia's wasn't prepared to honor. The wait wasn't terribly long, considering the holiday, but the OpenTable reservation was useless.
Celia's staff was super helpful and on point! It was so nice to have a very professional staff that was so accommodating with our large party of 11, food was delicious and everything went smooth
Good food and service !
The time was a late lunch. Celia's was not at all busy.
Love Celia's (the chain) in general but this location needs to be condemned and re-built. Honestly the facilities are close to disgusting and the bathrooms atrocious. Sorry Celia's I certainly will not be back and would not recommend this location to anyone.
Nothing great bout this place. Food was average. Margaritas tasted like they were from a mix.
We were a group of 7 on a Saturday night, so they may do better at other times. The food was very average. It took forever for them to serve five of us and the other two had to wait another five minutes. Dinner, when served, was cold. We didn't see the waiter again until I went downstairs and asked for the check.
I ordered the three tostadas plate which was 80% lettuce and served cold. I would also swear there was no tequila in the margaritas. :(.
Great food, great service & great price! Get the bean dip & chips appetizer-very good!
Even though we had a large party, the service here was friendly and efficient. The portions of food are enormous, and the menu is very typical Mexican/American food.
I was surprised how large the restaurant was and with an outside patio. Parking is tight but food and margaritas are excellent
We really liked our meals and the waitress and staff could not have been more attentive and efficient.
Kind and understanding wait staff
